Update:
Everything stable. It seems that the October events realy got the existing player base playing.

Player base is stable, but at what cost? PGI is giving away MC like candy on Halloween. No need to spend money when you can grind MC. Just picked up 18 mech bays and didn't spend a dime.

Not trying to shoot holes in it, but it doesn't tell us how many of those players are F2P and how much the paying ones spent.

Longevity of this game will be based on the size of the wallet base, not the size of the player base.

Shame it can't tell the difference between players that actually continue to play as opposed to the ones that play twice and quit.

Thanks for compiling this.

It will be interesting how the skill changes will affect the graph.

And what does the data in JAN suggest? Less players or more faction play?

This I would like to know as well but I was never willing to put up with the hassel to export the data out of the client manually. Besides, I think the FP Leaderboards of the past seasons are not accesible anymore.

But I suggest you go after these questions and post the figures you find in the spreadsheet I posted in the OPPosted Image

Ugh, using bar graphs to show a trend in a time series...

Let's try this again:

It's not that bad using bar charts.

At least we're not using crappy scaling...

You are doing far worse. You are obfuscating the real trend by putting unrelated data points into close proximity with each other. The bar graph gives the initial impression of a dramatic loss in players until you examine it more closely. That's a poor use of graphic representation.

So help me out here.....I've been put in a corner for bad behavior because I responded testily to an idiot, so I haven't been able to ask.

Why is it leader board stats that you are using to make these measurements? Does this accurately correlate with the player base as a whole? I'm asking because I never look at the leader boards, nor care about them.

I have not been using Steam lately but I was surprised to see over 1800 players using Steam just the other day. That's a lot higher than usual.

Amount of players is remaining very steady, and that's good considering so many things have been delayed and everything else involved.

Well, all I've got is...

LARGE AND DIVERSE PLAYERBASE.

That is all.

Maybe this will now force PGI to make a player's presence on the leaderboard optional. Posted Image

A Players presence on the Lead Board is totally optional. Just don't play. ;)

If PGI could develop some PVE coop missions, it should help out with the casual player base numbers. Massive games like CS:GO and League of Legends have done good work in catering to their casual player base. In MWO, casual players are getting thrown into tier 1 games where they are grinded to a pulp. As a tier 1 player, I have to say that it really isn't all that fun for anyone involved.

PVE campaigns, hell yes.
