Solaris here is referring more to a PvP mode. Perhaps there could be a PvE campaign for a Solaris pilot. But that's not so easy to put in a poll.

But I'm doubly against a Solaris mode. Not only would PGI botch all the stuff that made Solaris interesting like all the gang-related stuff, nightclubs, stables, and getting cozy with the affiliated houses, but the game pretty much already is solaris 7. Deathmatch with focus on leaderboards in arena-style maps, pretty much exactly what solaris 7 would be. The only thing that we don't already have is a coliseum.
But PvE? Considering that this game has, up until now, and in spite of literally every Battletech universe game up until this point being single player games first and foremost, has thrown the fans of single player games under the bus in favour of e-sports and "Competitiveness", a little something in our favour would be nice.

They could start small and improve it along the way
1- AI-controlled mechs - filling missing player slots in CW/FP.
2- Combat of players against AI-controlled mechs in standard maps. The simplest way is to pit the players against waves of increasing difficulty AI controlled mechs.
3- Addition of AI controlled vehicles (tanks, VTOLs...), in a "Total Warfare" game mode.
4- Level editor (you choose the map, mechs, AI level, objectives, etc.)
5- Co-Op official levels.
6- Campaign.
Solaris would be cool (and easier to implement), but not the majority of the playerbase can play competitive. Not to mention PvE is much more attractive to new players/newbies.

I do agree there's lots of similarities but there are things that could be done to differentiate Solaris from QP.
- Weight class specific matches, heavies vrs heavies, lights vrs lights, etc.
- Ranked 1v1, 4v4, 8v8 & free for all
There could also be an announcer and the crowds could cheer every time someone gets a kill or something.

I did a bit but I'll make another go of it. I don't go on Reddit so if anyone wants to advertise it there that would be cool.
On a side note, PvE is pulling away with 7 that want only PvE & 16 that want PvE before a Solaris mode. That's a total of 23 for PvE.
Solaris only has 12 between it's two slots.
So far it looks like most are ready to move on from CW/FP with it only receiving 1 vote.

Like they did with CW, right?

We already have PvE for all intents and purposes. It's called PSR and it allows players like me to farm terribads that float up to T1 where they have no business being.

CW was always bad and a waste of resources from the start.

Plus, Solaris probably won't hurt but will only be catering the "comp crowd" and they won't keep your ship afloat except when powercreep happens.

Solaris can run much better in the current engine than CW does.
Russ said in the town hall without a live spectator feature (not private match) and replay feature there is no point in doing Solaris. Those two features require an engine swap or upgrade.

PGI should get CW in to a good state, I still love dropping in 4 mechs and the scale of the battles, with attention it could be so much better. Attract more players, separate pug stomp groups away from solo queues when you bring in the players.
Then we can talk about new modes that will takes years to get good.
