Mechwarrior: Derived from Battletech: Derived from Macross/Robotech.

Battletech's base combat systems are cribbed from the Macross board game in japan. Battletech, and by extension Mechwarrior's entire aesthetic is drawn from Japanese Anime/Manga influence from such classic Anime/Manga as: Fang of the sun Dogrum, Crusher Joe, and Macross.

Saying anime doesn't belong in Mechwarrior/Battletech is like saying that Scifi doesn't belong on a Star Trek board.

Some people certainly think mwomercs.com is their safe_weaboo_place. If you cant write a word without having to post an irrelevant gif, anime or not, you are on the wrong forum. If you think your gif is relevant, you are mistaken most of the time as this very thread demonstrate. I know i can skip the writing when the only reason someone communicate is to post a gif.

A quick fix that would accommodate everyone is to make all image, gif or not, as a spoiler(hidden by default). You see it if you want but you dont see it if you dont want to. Suddenly, a lot of post either disappear or lose all meaning.

I was a huge advocate to people here on MWO back when that started getting out of hand to tone it down, but I mean, clearly you need something to take your mind off the anime posters if there's this much butthurt...

Brony's have been the kickingpost of the internet since 2012, and I'm sure if we REALLY wanted to, we could start stirring that pot again.

At the end of the day, MWO, owes it's entire existance, to Anime... Like it or not, you're playing a game who's core was made by 80's "weebs" wanting to bring the Awesomeness of giant mecha fighting to the states.

I'm not a brony myself, but I do know where to find some anime x brony gifs for if that future ever happened... There's always options out there.

Oh yes. For Shoji Kawamori, I have all the time in the world. Mecha designer of Eureka seveN (some people like it, some don't but I love it), Patlabor, Gundam 0083 and Aquarion.

Its obvious whats going on here, the topic was made by an alien texting from the dark side of the moon hiding because anime scares him, and for good reason.

And I remember reading once somebody mentioning (I think it was Bishop) that anime gifs are permitted, but frowned upon, I think he couldn't have said that better. But I really wanted to bring this topic out to attention. And as much as I like the concept of gifs in general, it's this weird conflict with my inner self that gets me thinking "this just doesn't belong here" and it happens a little bit too often then I would like, to the point it made me consider making this thread.

Does anyone else feel like this too?

Anime is sooo not meant for this forum, and it's kinda silly all these gifs are popping up..

I think its done by a very small group of people, and to be honest, most of their use of this gifs is completely out of place..

Sometimes it's like "ok, they are talking about LRM's, I think this gif about how to make waffles I found would fit in here"

Its totally gotten old..
