No this will not, there needs to be a Light IS mech that can compete with the cheetah and this is not it. Needs both ECM and Jump jets. Once again an IS light mech that doesn't have the armor, guns, or protection (ECM, JJ) to keep it in the running. Oh ya it doesn't run as fast.

"Doesn't run as fast"

Yes it does...

"Need both ECM and jumpjets"

No you don't. The Jenner Oxide had neither and was really powerful before it got rescaled. Same with the Jenner IIC.

What do you mean armor? It doesn't have any more or less than other 30 tonners.

As far as guns, I think 2xSRM-4 and 2xSRM-2 is more than sufficient firepower, especially with cooldown and range modules, making it very fast and accurate in shooting.

ECM and JJ on the Javelin are on separate variants, but I think the major advantage here is that you almost never need to rely on arms. The striking issue I find with ACH's despite what people say about them is that their arms are so vulnerable. The most common 6xSPL builds house 2/3rds of their firepower in their arms, which I simply shoot off and they go running away. The Javelins you will most likely have to kill anyway if you want to disable their weapons, since they are all torso mounted (which also makes it a good peek and shoot 'mech on inclines).

Nah, Assassin is better missile Light than Javelin could ever be, even though Assassin is a Medium. Javelin is slower, packs less, and jumps less than the Assassin. Hurray for MK-IV JJs...

Which is also a joke that mediums jump better. I think when the next PTS hits, I will take the loyality cicada and invest massively into the JJ tree. Let's see how well it hops hehehe

The Javelin would be an amazing light in my opinion. Thoughts?

Those are my thoughts:
JVN-10N
XL255 4xSRM4(2.5t)+JJ
XL285 3xSSRM2(2t)+BAP+3JJ
JVN-10F
XL285 4xMPL+2JJ
JVN-10P
XL255 6xSRM2(3t)+4JJ
JVN-11A
XL255 7xSL+3JJ+DHS
JVN-11B
XL255 3xSRM4(2.5t)+DHS+ECM
JVN-HT
XL255 4xML+2xSRM4(1.5t)+2JJ

I don't think it will be the new king of light mechs, but it might be quite ok. The limit range or SRMs along with the explosive ammo makes it a rather risky ride, but we'll see. I'm certainly looking forward to it.

4x SRM-4 with only 2.5 tons of ammo?...

Unfortunately a lot of mechs have that problem. You can never have too many chicken-walkers :)

For scout mode why not :P

For QP 3xSRM4(3.5t)+3JJ will be more reasonable

The Javilin is important because the IS was lacking in bad SRM lights.

Wait....

I like it in the board game. However, I am not sure how well it will work in MWO. The laser build can be copied by other mechs already. It all depends on the quirks, I suppose.

Hey now let's not forget the Fire Javelin with it's abundant E HP's. Also you can fit 2 mrm10s plus ammo at a good speed.

A jenner IIC destroys any and all IS and Clan mechs for SRM boats. The amount of firepower you can pack on a boom jenner is ridiculous. A javelin is a poor cousin unfortunately.

@rhent

The Jenner IIC is a rescaled 35 tonner, it's far more vulnerable than the Javelin and carries 4 missile hardpoints in the arms alone. Not to mention, it is not always about how many SRM's you have. Have smaller, fast launchers makes for a longer lasting peekaboo game dancing around and striking people in the back. A Jenner IIC with a boatload of SRM's generates lots of excess heat, chews through tons of ammo, and is a death sentence if you try to double dip on a target.
