I had a lot of fun. I don't have the opportunity to play stockatches anywhere near a such as I would like. I enjoyed the first set a little more than the race to the lights challenge but both times it was fun working out strategies on the fly with people who never really played together before. Dettmam was a pretty cool team lead for both segments.

Our tournament was a six hour event and it seems that it was a lot of fun. As for me I got a lot of positive feedback and I am very happy about it.
We had the main tournament, an extended fun run, a lottery and trivia questions, so altogether four event parts.

We needed to downsize the real tournament because more teams and single players registered than the ones who showed up. Peiper and I expected the opposite, registered people will show up AND new spontaneous players. So we downsized the real tournament down to three rounds (instead of five) and Peiper had this idea to "run to lights" which was great fun. I mixed up the players (and I was sure not everyone was liking it in the beginning) but it's a great chance to meet new people, maybe learn something and have fun.

I used the "Lachhh's Giveaway Tool" that I have seen at the mechathon when RjBass3 had his stream on twitch. I had so much fun watching Harry (the monster) eating distracted players alive but we had only one round of it and Harry needed to go back to his pit without fodder. *sighs and chuckles*

There is nothing to add to Peipers post when he answered Dungeon Keeper but this: I had to form four new teams when we went for "run to lights" and I needed to give four teams five dominant EON players. Before this part of the event, they crushed everyone in their path. And so I put two of five EON players to team 1. Certainly there was a need to "nerf" this team before start, everything else would have been unfair! We had a guy in the booth, waiting for having some fun and he drank alcohol. I put him to the two EON guys and guess what: they still won. They won the first part of the tournament and got their prizes and they even won the second part with the drunken guy. And this is called "the worst gaming experience of Dungeon Keepers life". *rolling eyes and chuckles*

This was the fun round, guys! It wasn't just the "Comp teams come and grab prizes"-tournament, it was an community event. This was Peipers and my intention to do this tournament. We don't need to feed comp teams with even more mechpacks. We wanted to have a good time with the chance for everyone to grab some prizes, not only the comp teams. By the way, if there would not have been the trivia questions round, the other mechpacks would have been gone into the lottery. There was no way to win them with winning more matches.

Dungeon Keeper: you know I'm a big EON fan, I admire your teamplay and I crossed my fingers for EON at the championships! But I remember you being part of the last tourmament and when you won, you were only interested in getting your mechpack and go away immediately. You asked: "What do it get?" and when you knew it, you disconnected. And this time you were pissed when you didn't get YOUR mechpack. What does it mean? You're a prize fighter. Nothing more, nothing less. You are not interested in friendship or the community but you are interested in mechpacks. That's okay. But that's only you! I would love to read some real and productive (negative) feedback but your post was only toxic and full of envy. And that's something, I don't care about. I knew the other guys had fun and that's what counts for me. Better try to have 95% of the guys having fun than only 5% of the guys having fun. That's what Peiper and I did.

Like Peiper said: we thought a lot what we can do to show all other players our appreciation for coming. If there are competitive teams on a tournament, everyone else is just cannon fodder, most of the time. Maybe the comp teams love that but I don't! You did not even thing about forming other teams to make it fair. It's not a shame playing to win, that's what we all do. And yes, your team was even able to grab most of the prizes. You won 100% of the tournament prices and 25% of the lottery prizes. And it's still the worst gaming experience of your life because you weren't able to grab ALL prizes. Whew.... that's hard stuff, man.

This goes to all competitors: Thanks for visiting us. It was my first experience in tournament organization and I want to thank Peiper for his awesome work. This guy had done so much work for the community, I am proud to know him.
I wasn't a big fan of the trivia questions too (I don't have much knowledge about BT lore, I'm a shooter girl, haha) but I think it was a nice idea to show what BT is all about: not only building meta builds and playing competitive but being interested in this whole world of lore and technology, in its history. As a competitor I would be able to find the questions without googleing it but that's okay. As for me, I wanted to feed Harry but Harry will return, that's for sure!!! *chuckles* It was also my first streaming experience. Thanks for RjBass3 for giving me this inspiration.

If you want to fight with us, playing 3025 and "normal" stock mech matches, have another "run to lights" matches and much more, visit us at HubSteiner at Monday or Thursday at 8pm EST. See you soon!

Catalina Steiner,
1. No reddit hype is probably the reason for not enought players, make reddit post to get more attention.
2. Give away tool is fine for me, I never said anything against it. Lottery is OK, lore stuff is not.
3. As I said before my issue with drunk guy was not about poor perfomance, it was about screaming and talking all the time. And guess what, none in our team were able to even understand what he was talking. Yes, we were able to win, but experience was ruined. Looks like win/loss matters lot more for you than for me otherwise I dont understand why you keep stressing that we got our win any way.
4. "What do it get? and when you knew it, you disconnected." Not true, I was not saying that during previous event. Are you 100% sure it was me?
5. How is it my team or my personal fault that other comp teams ignored this event? Do I need to remind what team we played in final previous time? We prepared to play top opposition and decided not to sleep for that purpose.
6. I dont like to play with drunk people and have no interest in lore. This means I'm toxic? Or you just don't like different opinion?

I had and still have hope that we might have stock tournament that is focused on MWO gameplay. Surprisingly I really enjoyed process of choosing 3025 mechs, internal discussion of what builds we should use with single heat sinks and what is our game plan. This is very different from playing same mechs again and again in MRBC and other tournaments.

I don't want to make this the thread the "Dungeon Keeper's" show. If you were interested in giving such huge and individual feedback, you could have written Peiper or me a personal message.

You called it "the worst experience of your gaming life" and this is what I called toxic. You can't write that and think it's productive feedback and I was waiting for it. You can't expect that I won't react on this.

I'm european, it was a long night for me too. I really apologize for this drunken guy, he became even more drunk with time and at the end, I muted him in TS3 because I was sick and tired of him. No worries, you are not alone with this opinion. But this guy waited some time for his matches when you played the tournament. Same is true for Michael Knell who even registered but didn't find a team in time. I was so happy that we were able to include every player on the fun part of the tournament.
I only want you to know that such tournaments are not only made for you and other competitive teams. They are the 5% of this community, only the tip of the iceberg. I didn't find that understanding in your first and yes, toxic post. I wish your first post would have been as productive as your last one, it would have saved a lot of time for discussion.

It was in the rules but I will repeat it: if there is an annoying player in your team, you are able to report it to the organizers and/or judges. I guess Peiper and I would have removed this guy from the team and found a replacement or another solution. Having fun was our biggest intention and I know that alcohol can ruin this. Please everyone take my apology for that.

And I agree on the last part. 3025 or any other stock mode is... the complete opposite of the "being meta and comp" trend. It means fun instead of pressure, slow matches instead of fast matches, slow TTK, low DPS, low alpha and so on. It feels like sitting in a real mech, with dozens of tons of steel armor around yourself. I missed that feeling in MWO solo and group queue matches. I am happy that even such highly competitive players like EON like this mode so much. I was happy that you showed up again, especially my favourite championship team. I only have this wish that this mode isn't exploited for the same reason as other tournaments and the usual way to play MWO. Sure it's about winning, everyone wants to win or having at least a very exciting and close match. But most of it, it's about having a good time.

If we play this game mode, it should be about having fun, a great and intense immersion feeling, maybe trying out new weapons and stuff, not driving the same boring meta stuff ALL THE TIME. And same is true for tournaments with stock mode, at least for me. I will always care for all players, not just a few. Additional to that I'm still waiting for the first tournament that is able to please everyone.

1. It's up to me to decide if I want to express my opinion in public or private.
2. I wrote about drunk guy to Peiper and got no reply.
3. Sorry, but you got me wrong. 3025 mechs is just very welcome chanse to change meta, nothing to do with feeling/immersion and stuff.
4. There is one very easy step to event that will make everyone happy - post full rules in advance and follow them. For me worst part was putting effort to make a team from our randomly selected players and after our collective success have effectivly no chanse to win a prize. All I know about BT is that I should say Seyla as often as possible.

Now Thursdays are days I can actually do this. What kind of showing do you guys normally get?

It's hit and miss. If it's miss, we just pug while waiting for more, so either way we are playing.

Do you guys have plans for any mini-tournies or smaller events prior to the end of the year? I liked the first event but regrettably was unable to attend the second (RL Battletech day ^__^)

We're brainstorming different ideas, but probably not until January.

I have several goals in mind, and not necessarily in this order:

1. Simplicity. When running any kind of tournament, everything has to be dumbed down to prevent hickups and allow for as little management as possible on the part of the organizer.
2. Stock mode utilization.
3. Building the community, making friends, having fun.
4. Encourage camaraderie over competition.
5. Design events for variable number of participants. (example, this weekend we expected a dozen teams and got six, breaking our bracket a bit and forcing us to adapt on the fly to prevent comp teams from crushing casual/pug teams over and over)

Secondary objectives/stretch goals.

1. Prize distribution based upon sportsmanship rather than prowess. (Random prizes and battletech trivia are okay for now.)
2. Some sort of clan vs. inner sphere balance in stock mode.
3. Killing off the GunGun race before the birth of Jar Jar Binks in canon, forcing a remake of the prequels. Also, moving the location of the construction of the second Death Star to where it was supposed to be in the first place, above the forests of Kashyyyk.
4. Practical experiments with battle value and subsequent integration into the game (while keeping it simple).

Haha, excellent! Heck, I'm sure you'd be able to find a couple goons who'd be willing to play the parts of player controlled NPC's if you want to set up some missions :D Also, those Gungans deserve it.

Some are whining like old grandmums here. You know you got mute button there? No reason to disturb the fun and even still whining about it on forum.
