Did you rename this thread or something?
I feel like there was some sort of timewarp.

- Veteran players are rightly ticked off that they'll go from dozens of fully mastered mechs to a handful.
- New players will have a longer grind to get useful skills, making them even easier to kill targets than they already are... and it's not like the game is rolling in new players as it is.
- With the removal of chassis-specific quirks, there will no longer be a good reason to play any mechs other than the ones with the best hardpoints and geometry.
- With the insane grind that is being proposed and the removal of the need for the 3 mechs of a kind rule, there will be far fewer reasons to even buy new mechs, which will reduce interest in the game and cut into PGI's profits which - let's face it - consist of selling mech packs.
All of the above are facts based upon what we currently know about the proposed system.
- Veteran Players...... why won't they be able to instantly reallocate the XP on the mechs into those 75 points straight away? Is it that they have no extra XP sitting on those mechs because they never used them again after they mastered them under the current system? Or has it all been converted to general XP with the various sales in which case.... have they managed to burn through all of that on what..... pilot skills for modules which is being refunded?
- New Players..... why would they have a longer grind? The proposed change is said to have the same length of time. Why would they be easier targets with this change given that the diversity of skills may mean less disparity simply due to not being able to get all the skills.
- Removal of quirks..... there is discussion that the under performing mechs will have some different options but we know nothing about it at this stage so you are assuming this to be the case. Besides, with the diversity in the skills it may be that there is no longer an optimal path meaning that the under performing mechs as they are currently viewed may perform better in other ways.
- The need for 3 mechs..... sure, don't need to get three of a kind just to do the mastery thing as it currently stands but if you want to have a different variant for different hard points or to set up the mech for a different purpose then getting more of them is still valid. If you only play the game one way regardless of mechs, sure, save your c-bills and grind less. The mech packs may change, who knows. There are other reasons to get the packs.
