Why would I be upset about that?

They were pre-order bonus's on some mech packs. I do wonder if they are going to five us cbills back for those, because Russ specifically said the would refund all of hte module we "Bought".

I know where the modules came from, but the OPs premise is that people bough mech packs for the modules, instead of the modules just being a nice little bonus.
Which is insane.
EDIT: Clarified my initial post.

I just feel bad for new players, if there are any, as the gap now between an Elder player and a F.N.G. will be even larger once this goes live.

There does seem to be a little potential for 'EVE Online Syndrome,' where once you're behind, you never have a chance to catch up.
But I don't think it'll be that bad. A chore, perhaps, but not impossible.

The early-adopted rewards are what made the difference, at least to me, between purchasing and not purchasing. And why shouldn't it? If you're patient enough, you can get any mech sold via mech pack for C-bills anyway. The early adopter rewards eliminated hours of grinding - so sure, why not spend the $20 for a new shiny toy and a bunch of time(frustration) saving cbills, modules, and items? I don't care for any mechs (not yet released) enough to buy them with real money stand-alone, and for me there needed to be an extra incentive to push me to do it, which in many cases, were the modules.

I doubt it will be that bad, Yes some people will have mastered mechs but if they want to master others they have to play them.

Not sure if this is relevant to your comment or not but a lot of people seem to have missed that you get a limited number of skill points for each mech. You can't just fill up every tree, you have to choose the ones you want (I beleive they said you get 75). If you want to change the spec you can reskill for a fee, and you can also have two of the same variant with different skills selected. It is not some grind to fill up the entirety of every tree for every mech. We don't know for sure how long it will take yet to skill up a mech so it may not be any longer than the current system or it might be significantly longer, just have to see and give feedback.

Of course. The easiest way to do it is simply remove modules and credit accounts with cbills equal to the number of modules*cost of modules. They have no way of knowing where a particular module came from.

Why do you say this? A new player no longer needs to buy 3 mechs to get one mech mastered, he can buy his first mech and master it outright rather than be held back artificially until he's bought 3 of them.
How is this not better for new players?

The early adopter module bonuses where identical to a cbill bonus of that value (if you needed the modules, anyways) as it saved you buying those modules.
As the cbill value of modules is being refunded, you're not losing anything at all - you'll have more cbills now because of those early adopter bonuses.

I'm not saying I'm losing anything with the skill tree revamp, I was merely stating that the modules were the icing on the cake for me when they were made available with preorders. Being that preorders came with the still-existent 6.5mil c bill bundle, for me at least, that extra incentive is gone.

Never said it wasn't a better option, if anything I think it will help. Just that I think new players will find the gap when start rather large, between elder players and new players... As they might see the grind that much harder, with out understanding the grind on the 3 variants, when you get two less then wonderful variants you have to slog through.

Some of them are identifiable. If you didn't unlock the module but received it through a pre-order, you were not able to go in an purchase another without first unlocking it. Those modules have a special identifier... think (c). At a minimum those should be MC refunds.

So it'll be, when they first start, exactly the same as it is now (as this system mirrors mechs+skills+modules), but they'll be able to get up to par with one mech much faster than currently as they only need to skill up one mech, not 3. So... it's an improvement for new players over the current system.

Eh, they're still basically identical to cbill modules in practice. Which currency they get refunded in doesn't really matter much (and honestly it'll almost certainly be cbills), so long as they do get refunded. It's not like you'll be any worse off.
*shrugs* My point, though, is that unlike TK Sax's implication, you can rest assured that there'll be refunds for those modules as well. They're not going to take away modules that where part of a pack sale without crediting your account in the process. The implication that they would is ridiculous.

But the do know what was bought from the store, so if they just do it based on what was bought in the store any modules that were recived with pre-order mech packs will not be refunded.

What does it matter if the pack came with 6.5m cbills and a 6m cbill module, or 12.5m cbills?
It was great when they were added as a preorder bonus, no doubt, but whatever. Maybe now packs will come with bonus XP? I'm sure they'll still have some sort of pre-order bonus going forward, as they want to encourage players to pre-order.

Well yes actually one of the reasons I did early orders on some mech packs was because of the pre-order bonus including the modules, so I do consider that part of my purchase with real money, not just the mech, the Mech, Modules, the Cockpit items all of those have a real money value when bought as part of pack.

That's just silly. Seriously, man, they're not going to take away modules that came from packs and not refund them. The whole notion is ridiculous.

Help me out here. Are you seriously afraid PGI is going to take away things you bought and not give you anything in return? Really? Of course they're going to refund those modules - it'll almost certainly be the module's cbill value, though you didn't pay cbills for them, because that's just easier than trying to figure out some other value for them. But you'll definitely be refunded for them.
That's next order paranoia there, dude.
