In fact, I don't really want three of any mech I have pre-ordered. Same reason.
Three is now an obsolete, if not excessive number.
Please change this imminently.
Give me an option to buy 1.

Mech Packs really don't make much sense anymore do they?

Perhaps they will have a clever mechanism whereby the more mechs you have, the more squirks will be available to you?
Edit: "clever" was meant as sarcasm btw.

75 Points per mech. 10.000XP(*) per point> 750k XP per mech for all "skills"
(*) was shown in the top right corner of the presentationscreen.
I still guess it was just a showcase. Everything above 2000 Xp per point would be hillarious.
OR, the maximum # of skills will be around 10 (+X for bad mechs, -X for topmetamechs)
@Dr Wubs: I am scratching my head right now how and when i should "level up" my Supernovas ^^

And it worries me a bit.
My original post about this issue, and a suggested solution (that won't be liked by many) here: https://mwomercs.com...ost__p__5509501
There has to be some kind of bonus/advantage to leveling several variants or this game will become all about a narrower meta than we have now.

Definitely the coolest looking variant as it actually looks like an industrial mech, or the power loader from Aliens.

Why do you have two threads going about this same topic, simultaneously ?

It's not even that good, but I really want that (S) variant for the construction paintjob. $40 is a bit much just to get it, though it does come with more cockpit items and some worthless overkill premium time. I'll prolly drop $20 for the early adopter and wait till I see the final skinned result to see if I really wanna drop that other $20...otherwise we might be able to mimic it with the new yellow in the early adopter rewards (one of the best reward sets in some time).

The issue of mech packs providing essentially worthless content could easily be solved if the new skill tree system is outfitted to give you benefits for owning multiple variants: every mech of that chassis you own and play with can use it's experience points to unlock the skill tree steps of that chassis. After unlocking that skill, you could then choose whether or not to allocate a skill point into the slots you previously unlocked.
For example; I play the newly released Marauder IIC, but only one variant catches my eye. If I want to unlock the skill tree quicker, I can play for the first win of the day bonus on multiple variants and use the extra experience to fully unlock the skill trees for it quicker.
This way, you still have incentive to own multiple mechs of a chassis, you do not disrupt the current mech pack selling system, and you make it slightly easier for collectors to master the chassis.
TL;DR:
Skill tree unlocking is chassis wide
X mechs of same chassis = more experience gain with first win of the day bonus for faster mastery
Each individual can still pick and choose the final composition of their skill tree separately
Grind isn't as severe
