If the AI Atlas doesn't rage on the team in chat once it's killed, I'm going to be disappointed. Give us some AI salt while we wait for the score to add some immersion. Then adjust the severity based on the teir of the game. Teir 5 the Altas laughs it off, Oopsie, but in T1 it's a string of profanities that carry into your next match with it.

Comedy gold. :)

I don't see anything new about an Atlas pushing ahead, risking his own life for the push, only for the entire team to sit back and watch him get shredded. This time it just loses the match instantly when it happens, instead of wasting an Atlas.

Yes maybe good training for players to support their assault pushes better?

To be fair, it will probably take a little while for people to properly understand the game mode

Ok, so I patched the game last night, and dropped two FW drops before the mode crashed on me.. so while I wait for PGI to hotfix that, I decided to try one escort match before going to bed..

It was on River city, and the VIP took the city road.. we ended up completely wiping the floor with the enemy, our Atlas having mere scratches..

But, it didn't really showcase the game mode for me..

So, for those of you who dropped more than once.. I have questions..

1) Does the Altas take the same route every time?
2) Does the Atlas stop moving if the road is "dangerous" or does it simply move into the enemy?
3) Does the Atlas fire back?
4) If you body block the Altas, does it hump your leg, or look for a way around?
5) What do the markers above mean? Are they the Atlas's Paperdoll sections?
6) Does the Atlas rush heedlessly into danger or does it "move with the group"?
7) Is the Atlas tougher than a normal full-armor Atlas?

Answering these questions would give me a good idea of the state of the A.I. implemented.. Is it "a new achievement for MWO" or is it just point A to point B like in the academy, a rudimentary A.I?

Already alot of salt around the forums because Escort is not quiet more "of the same" game mode compared to the others.

I just think that "Change it hard" and after awhile when people learn more and PGI balances it better, it will be a really good break from Frozen City Nascar Warrior Skirmish part 10000.

how does the founders tag equal skill? thats the same misconcepton that PGI made with PSr, that more gemes equals more skill.

Protip: The VIP mech counts for your damage dealt, so leg it ASAP, slaughter the reds, and blow all of it's components off for maximum cbill farming [turrets are also workth 1k each and 100 xp, and only have 15 health or so].

The VIP atlas has mega armor but standard atlas internal health once the armor is breached.

gauss is a good option but it needs to be a combined effort. if you have a large lrm boat to rqain fire with a gauss cannon or three that will work. the VIP is majorly armored and hard to shoot enough with enemy mechs looking for people who is firing on the VIP.

1) No, there's various routes
2) The Atlas never stops and charges right along the path it chooses
3) The Atlas has no guns at this time
4) Unsure but I would hope that it would go around
5) The bars at the top are the Atlas's body parts. LL being Left Leg, RL being Right Leg and so on
6) Refer to #2. If the path it chooses is dangerous it's your job as the defending team to make it not dangerous
7) Other people's posts suggest that it is, although with a 12 person firing line which is what tends to happen on Crimson Strait it's hardly noticeable

I had an escort game that I think actually helped the team play better. Crimson Strait, VIP went saddle push. We were forced to all push over at once or lose. Won us the match.

There are nuggets of hope there people, tiny ones to be sure but nuggets....

1) Maybe just people that spent time farming their KDR up in group Q afraid to have it reflect their actually play ability when they have to rely on their skills and nothing more.

2) Maybe enough people have left the game that the only ones left are the cowards, douches, and exploiters.

I believe its 90% #1 and 40% #2. Which of course means there's 30% overlapping to both. ;)

If by "pro" people mean "farmer", then it's no wonder why MWO gameplay is in the sorry state it is in right now. The Spartans figured out millennia ago that farmers do not make soldiers as good as those raised and bred to actually be one.

And then there was a man named Gaius Marius born several hundred years later ...

Well actually, I appreciate that PGI are giving us new game modes. I don't think it will change player behavior either way. (The two matches I've played of it so far, my attacking team got wiped... not the VIP LOL.)

But if I could get a few of those Atlases on my PUG team in Skirmish matches. I mean, it moves from where it spawns, it doesn't cower behind a rock all match. It's definitely showing potential!

Sure, it doesn't shoot, but hey, I'd still be overall better off Posted Image

I've enjoyed the mode so far, but it is going to take a bit before we find out how it actually works out. From my brief experience, more communication is required than is generally present in a qp match. Could be we learn movements and tendencies that mitigate the need for communication over time though.

Attackers are ****ed if the fast movers don't find anyone.

and not do anything but turtle. Just had a escort on crimson tide. The VIP took the tunnel... it walked around 7 guys clustered at the tunnel exit afraid to break out together when the enemy team was split. And I have a hard time believing the three guys with founders tags were anything other than T1/T2s... and they were being cowards also. Has the player quality just gone out the window ?

Awww someone needs a cookie. Posted Image

Come on Dee Eight at least give it 24 hours before you start doom saying. Ya I know the AI is a bit thick but work around it. If I recall correctly I've seen you play, call the match, try herding some of those cats you can make a difference. Also it takes about a week to ten days for the map to get enough play so it's not a first time cluster flop for everyone so grin and bear it (run a kodiak).

We haven't got a new map, and its been 24 hours... the majority are still playing as cowards. Bringing in a new mode hasn't altered the fact that cowardice is the new meta here. Its just made it a lot more obvious when the VIP drops everyone behind on its marching path, as they hide and poke and think that's all they need to do to beat the enemy.

TBH I see no reason to play this idiotic gamemode. The best strategy you can think of is to put a mech right in front of your VIP and block it until the rest of your team kills the enemy the usual way. Otherwise the m0r0nic AI will always find a way to go through the narrowest possible chokepoint and either get melted itself or cause its team swift and pointless demise. Considering attacking side always have plenty of time to capture ECM towers on their side of that chokepoint it makes things even worse.

Dumb gamemode is dumb.
