I am indifferent on [topic], as long as [topic] is kept to the one thread designated to it. The only time I get somewhat annoyed about [topic] is when threads with important information fall off the front page because [topic] is spread all over the place. All it does is make the people interested in [topic] look like they're full of themselves.

This goes for all [topic]s.

And for ponys... they're equestrian animals that eat grass. Nothing more, nothing less.

I see a pony love thread, a pony hate thread, a pony neutral thread and a furry thread, but where is the furry hate thread? Where is the justice in the lack of this?

No that would be "I vant to suck yoor poony." and I think that might be on the verge of breaking a few rules from the OP.

I am merely exercising my rights as an MWO forum poster. If it has been deemed that having threads that are both pro and anti pony is acceptable then surely a pony neutral thread is acceptable as well. Before starting this thread I expressed my opinion that all pony-related posts should be contained within one pony-related thread... which would include all positive, negative, and neutral comments. But it appears that this is not currently possible. So, in an attempt to keep the MWO community from becoming polarized, I decided to create the equivalent of Pony Switzerland. If said imaginary country had a flag it is unknown if there would be a pony on it as they would refuse to show the flag to anyone.

But By creating Pony Switzerland are you not in fact advocating a Pro-Pony stance?

No because Pony Switzerland is a metaphorical place.

In addition to said pony, I propose the box contains a single atom of a radioactive isotope. There is a Geiger counter attached to a mechanism with a hammer and a vial of poison. Spontaneous decay of the atom triggers the activation of the mechanism and the subsequent death of the pony. At the time of sealing the box, the pony was alive, however some time has passed. Is the pony currently alive or dead?

so is this schrodinger's pony now????

both there and not there at the same time???

Well...one could call this phenomenon an entanglement of states. Both states are not to seperate from each other and exist in a parallel manner or better said with a statistical same probability.
Once you open the box, the entanglement breaks and the distribution of probabilitys for each of the states changes to 100% for one and to 0% for the other.

If one knew the wave-function of the pony, one even could calculate the probability amplitude of the location of the Pony INSIDE the box or its impulse. But never both, because of something called the uncertianity principle. Google it, it will be mathematical

If we measured atoms even smaller particles, we shoot these particles with even smaller particles or beams waves (photons) to gain information by the reflected or absorbed beamparts (spectroscopy).During this process, the measuring alters the system by depositing energy in terms of heat, impulse or mass in the observed object. The System REACTS to the measurement.
And the information given by the measurement does not completely show the information that existed BEFORE the measurement (which interested us), but to a certain extend the information we added/altered.

Explained in term of macroscopic objects (scale adepted): The observed system is a pony. The measuring method is the counting of reflected and the loss of kinetic energy of transmitted 7,65mm-bullets. I f we want measure the location of pony or its impulse, we can only do one at a time, because the measuring process alters the system and there is uncertainity in terms of one observable when measuring the other. The System reacts in terms of changing its parameters and the information we gain is not exactly the information that existed before the measurement.

This experiment should be done outside only and a barbecue should have been prepared in beforehand. Small children should not pull the trigger without proper instructionby adults, because the recoil of a cal. 7,65mm is to reason with and the device should therefore be mounted tightly to prevent injuries..

Back to the Box-Problem:

So, matter of speaking, YOU have either killed the pony by operning the box, in which case I know to make perfectly tasty horse burgers out of them. Or YOU have brought the pony to live, in which case I assume you are a female horse and should not use this thread, if your existance is not totally ignored by yourself. If it is so, i would recommend to participate in the previously called experiment. Burgers, man.....burgers.

Except for the fact that if you read the OP we're clearly NOT discussing Schrodinger's Pony. This isn't a matter of a pony that is living or dead but a question of whether there is a pony in the box at all. And yet even that is not the point as the intended question is whether or not the possibility of a pony being in the box evokes any emotional reaction, positive or negative, within the observer of said box. If so then this is not the thread for that individual.

But the question of the mere being or not of a pony in the box emerges all of these questions and logical paths to follow.
The possibility of the existance of one, none,or a dead pony in the box is seen from the same point.
The feelings of many people would be different for each of this cases.

And for the possibility there is NO ppony in the box...well,open it! I would dare to say one has tricked us in talking about not existant ponys OR that you are (third assumption) a magician IF it was there before opening and therefore could like...well....bring the urbie to MWO!Or money into my pocket, which would be equivalentely good. Or let it rain steak and bacon. All ...this...amazing...BACON! And ponys woldn`t even be mentioned.

Otherwise I did never tell anything about my feelings towards the pony, so I proved to be really neutral and uncaring towards it. Totally ignoring any resemblence to the thing talking about was the general idea I thought :)

The only feeling I really had was...hunger! But that would have been likewise if there had been a cow, a chicken or a chihuahua in the box.or even if it had not been,as this point is uncertain.

And, hell yeah, I like project chaos too!And did I mention barbecue already? Always along the motto "eat it as long as its still dead!"
