-Cougar; Slower Adder 2.0, but brings alot more guns! (Super mini pocket heavy)

It only gains 2 tons over the Adder, for a much harsher speed/agility loss and given its profile, I foresee the Cougar actually being worse than the Badder.

Just look at the normal Phoenix Hawk. Look at it. Look at the Annihilator. Battletech has anime in its blood, and taking it out would leave it malnourished.

Not really, the game will be just fine if the anime aesthetic was taken out.

Side Note: The Rifleman IIC is 65 tons, NOT 60 tons like people seem to think and would need a better engine cap to actually be relevant to the meta since the 4 LPL variant is Whale speed stock.

Nightstar?

The problem with the Nightstar is that all the art work shows it as being super wide. Having the dual gauss so wide is kind of a pain in the *** for corner peaking. It would be better than the KGC though, because instead of being knuckledragging and wide, it would just be wide.

I'd say that the Phoenix Hawk IIC could be good as well... 400 series engine cap... the base model mounts two UAC/10's and 2 MG's...

Weapons and Equipment:

Built around the Type 79 400 XL Engine mounted on an Endo Steel skeleton fitted with five Jump Jets, the Phoenix Hawk IIC features as close as possible ground speed and agility to the original Phoenix Hawk as can be reasonably achieved on an 80-ton assault 'Mech, making it an effective fast interdiction unit. Ten and half tons of Ferro-Fibrous armor provide eighty-one percent of the maximum possible protection at its weight class, while ten Double Heat Sinks are sufficient for weapons array.

The main armament of the Phoenix Hawk IIC is the paired Ultra Autocannon/10s, each of which has a three-ton ammunition bin it can draw on. Both cannons are mounted in twin pods on either side of torso to the rear, a feature allowing technicians easy access to the weapons and reducing maintenance time both at base or in the field. A pair of Machine Guns provide extra firepower that is most useful against unarmored infantry. Despite the Clans disdain for it, the 'Mech's weaponless arm are almost ideal for physical combat

Variants:
  • Phoenix Hawk IIC 2

Developed in 2852, this variant transforms the Phoenix Hawk IIC into a missile boat. It removes all the weapons and a ton of armor to mount four LRM-20s and eight tons of ammunition.
  • Phoenix Hawk IIC 3
First appearing in 3062, the IIC 3 was designed by Clan Steel Viper following their ejection from the Inner Sphere and is produced for them by Clan Diamond Shark. Based upon the original, the IIC 3 makes use of two Heavy Large Lasers, a Medium Pulse Laser, and two Small Pulse Lasers; all of which are linked to a Targeting Computer. Twenty-two double heat sinks keep all the heat generated by the weapons under control.
  • Phoenix Hawk IIC 7

Based upon the original, the IIC 3 makes use of two Heavy Large Lasers, a Medium Pulse Laser, and two Small Pulse Lasers; all of which are linked to a Targeting Computer. Twenty-two double heat sinks keep all the heat generated by the weapons under control. First built in 3078, this version has a lower top speed (64km/h) from Type 81 320-rated XL Engine, but uses Improved Jump Jets to keep mobility. It carries a pair of Type KOV LB 10-X ACs in the torso, supplemented by twin Mk 3 ER Medium Lasers and Series-4 Streak SRM-4s. Clan Diamond Shark sells this variant to any interested buyer, including Inner Sphere powers, proving increasingly popular among mercenary units.

Then PGI versions as needed.

http://www.sarna.net...hoenix_Hawk_IIC

I support releasing the Pheonix Hawk IIC but that thing gonna be played as a peek and poker since it got Kodiak level highmounts and we all know what that bring...

Still I rather see some mediums and lights put in.

My suggestions

Lights

Incubus: Fast 30 tonner have speed around Jenner IIC, jj, high mounted energy weapons, will share the throne with the Arctic Cheeto despite it not having ECM.

Fire Moth: Gotta go fast!!!

Piranha: Plz PGI release this mech so we have a 20 tonner...

Locust IIC: No explanations here, but the salt levels gonna be in a all time high.

Mediums

Shadowhawk IIC: Nice energyboat, with a few variants with ballastics, also Highmounts.

Griffon IIC: 40 tonner missile boat, with stormcrow level's of speed.

Great Wyrm: 45ton Ballastic boat, and a hero mech reay to be put in.(Based off the Dragon)

Mercury II: fast moving 40 ton energy boat, pgi can freely make up more variants if they want.

Black Lanner: versatile 55 tonner Omni

Battle Cobra: Std engine omni laser boat would be unique in the game since most omni's have clan xl's.

This just my opinion, what should be added.

You only listed Clan designed mechs so not sure if you think this would be Clan or not, but within MWO, this would be an IS mech as it mounts IS tech and was before the time of real Clan tech.

And still people want MORE mediuns? You guys do realize them and heavies are almost tied for most of that weight class? Assaults and lights are pretty slim, the later being extremely thin in what they got...Mediums just at this point start feeling redundant of each other.

True but it's hard to say what Alex will do with it. His version might be thinner and more Marauder like. It'd be great at hill poking though, especially the fast variant.

#RatherHaveAStoopingHawk

Can't think of any IS mechs at that moment, also If I'm able to I would post some that comes to mind.

Before I forget you could use the Battle Cobra's Comstar variants just have to change the future tech to current available tech, for example mrm's to lrm's and light ppc to std. ppc.

Although true, I enjoy that this game is not an anime mecha game. I won't say the genre sucks, but mechwarrior games have never felt like a Gundam Wing reskinned game if you catch my drift.

Never said that it needs to behave like Gundam Wing, but anime inspired mechs, Phoenix Hawk is another good example, are a staple of Battletech, as well as often being some of the best units in the original TRO. To ignore that history, even for a questionable art direction seems silly.... for example, look at this:

Unseen MAD-IIC:

Reeseen MAD-IIC:

MWO MAD-IIC:

Would you have had them exclude it, purely on bad anime inspired art in the TRO it came from? No, because it's stats are that of a monster of energy vomit, the Phoenix Hawk IIC is a monster of all kinds of vomit, yet you would have it punished due to bad art work? If we did that to all the mechs in MWO, we wouldn't have a fraction any of the mechs we currently do.

Yeah, don't get me wrong, as far as I can tell there isn't really a better option either way. As far as IS assaults go, the Sunder and Nightstar are all I'm really interested in right now.

Clans on the other hand:

Kingfisher
Turkina
Mad Cat Mk. II
Blood Asp (eventually)

IS should have Wasp, Stinger, Valkyrie, Long Bow and then Crusader so it's completed Macross Unseen.

Ah yes, so the Clans get a slew of great 'Mechs (again) and the IS get stuck with this garbage because people are putting nostalgia ahead of what would actually work?

Neat.

In a nutshell, that explains why the IS gets roflstomped in Faction Play.. (Yes I know balance favors clans, but the issue is exacerbated by this)

Doubly so when you see that half the IS team is made up of trial mechs..... The amount of times I have seen trail Catapults in drops is staggering....

My issue is I just don't want a flood of IIc's like get the basics and the Phoenixhawk IIC does not feel like a must have IIC in game. Warhammer IIC and Rifleman IIC are better options. And I jusy don't want to see tons of these added back to back all because reasons. I took a leave from MWO after we had months of boring mechs.

I seen more trail Stalkers in FW lately, changed my deck with some HBR's so I won't be bother by their constant spamming of lurms...

  • January: Bushwacker
  • February: Supernova
  • March: Assassin
  • April: Roughneck
At that point, we're getting some new light mechs.
The game currently has 7 Clan mediums, 7 Clan heavies, 7 clan assaults and 5 Clan lights. Clans will have 8 assaults after February.
On the Inner Sphere side, 13 mediums, 13 heavies, 11 assaults and 9 light mechs. IS will have 16 different mediums after April.

In other words, it seems likely that we're getting at least 2 new Clan lights and 2 new IS lights. Unless PGI changes the MWO business model, this means it'll probably go something like this:
  • May: Clan light
  • June: IS light
  • July: Clan light
  • August: IS light
Then we have 4 months of more heavies and assaults, I would imagine. Maybe another Clan medium.

For example:
  • September: Warhammer IIC
  • October: Annihilator
  • November: Rifleman IIC
  • December: Mad Cat Mk 2
As for performance predictions, I would say it's hard for any new IS or Clan light mech to outperform the top light mechs already in the game, except maybe the Piranha. I've scoured Sarna for a new light mech that I would like to buy, but I can't find any. The advantages of the Firemoth are kind of pointless in MWO, unless it turns out to be a hyper-Locust that nobody can actually hit.

Sadly we are at the point of getting nothing but redundancy in mechs, there are some unique options come up for sure, but not a lot, it is more or less a game of what skin to I want to use in this weight class today?
