I am not claiming that it would be an easy task to implement in MWO, I just want it!.

Basically, it's impossible to get this sort of realistic animation in a FPS. The best thing you could do would be to add melee weapons and look at a game like Jedi Knight 2.
Not exactly beautiful, is it?
And then of course, this is 3PV. How do you think this looks from 1PV, when they're doing all these crazy attacks and turning their hips (i.e. twisting their torso) constantly? Even limiting it to a few melee weapons would be quite a challenge.

You can do better than that, check out the new Deathwing game.

Fair point. But can PGI do that?
There's no mech I want more for MWO than the Axman. So I hope they do figure it out. But at this point, it seems unlikely we'll ever even get collisions back, let alone knockdowns. And melee? Seems even more far fetched. Maybe for MW5.

Was table top a first person sim experience played out in real time? No? Then it's a different game. MWO bases a foundation in that, but it cant be expected to be an exact replica WHILE being a first person, real time, multiplayer sim.
So is your opponent gonna stand still while you wind up a big punch? No =p Is it gonna look just like that gif? No (never mind that you are in first person, and not third, and a haymaker would involve violently shaking your view from side to side so you couldn't see anything). And not to mention all the work that would have to go into custom animations for EACH chassis (and/or unique geometry) to do a 'cool looking' melee attack (or arguable effectiveness).
But hey, did you like the combat in skyrim? Because if melee gets added, that is far more likely what it will be like. Forward, back, forward, back, click punch, click punch rock em sock robots. Completely sad looking (but accurate for the range of movements available) and ineffectual feature that few will bother using. Plus you could only punch with both arms at the same time, setting all weapons on cool down, since we don't have individual arm movement. So punching would look like more like failed hugging.
Let's not even get into kicks. Or the horror or pug/newb charge/dfa

Yeah, I am the customer, so I can only say what I want in a game, it is the developer's job to figure out if or how they will implement and idea.
