This is correct. Especially if they intend to lower CW deck limits for Clans further. Related, same reason we need the Pouncer, but for Scouting mode primarily, as they dropped the tonnage there to 50. Gets to 45, and we are in some serious trouble, with extremely anemic firepower, currently.

Coyotl would give a good balance between speed and fire power for a 40t in the clan line up.... 10 km/h slower than the Viper (before speed tweak), with nearly double the weapons pod space payload.... She would just need some not over the top PGI vairants.... maybe a B RT, M RT and an ECM LT

Yeah, but what takes less energy and effort? Use a solid existing mech (40-ton Nova, anyone?) with plenty of variants that for sure is in circulation now, or dig up a slightly superior base chassis that only three of us even realize exists that they'd literally need to invent nearly all the variants for? Just Say No to PiranhaTech.

it was cute as the occasional one-off to fill out a 'Mech without quite enough canonical variants to make it in, a'la the Enforcer.

It is significantly less so, now that it's Piranha's answer to ever having to do actual game development work again.

Also f*** the Coyotl. Ugly muthah, useless variants, and again, needs ashloads of PiranhaTech. No thanks. Gimme my Vip-...waaaaaait a second...

Most, not all the variants... the Prime and the Alpha are good on the Coyotl... but yea a 40t Adder would be a good addition too, I just see the Coyotl as a good middle ground for speed freaks and flash-gitz.

Oh for sure it is a middle ground mech. Sits perfectly between the Viper and Pouncer. Also, I have no idea why or how, given I swore off Medium mechs since before the Clans, but I'm still scratching my head about how I came to be a Clan Medium pilot fanatic. Huntsman? Shadow Cat? Ice Ferret? Viper? Yes to them all! No Stormcrows, though. They have zero personality to speak of. Posted Image

I couldn't agree more about Storm Crows, they just don't speak to me... Also they are my worst chassis.... Like I do better in any other Mech I have over a storm crow.

Unless PGI have somehow, without our knowing, overcome the Cryengine speed limitations then the Firemoth will never make it into the game.

Full speed without MASC the Firemoth hits 162 km/h. Last I heard the MWO Cryengine can't cope with anything moving in excess of 173 kmh.

Firemoth full speed with MASC it breaks the Cryengine speedo at 216 km/h.

I really hope they switch this game to Unreal 4 when MW5 comes out.

Would prefer the locust IIC personally. It wouldn't break the game engine either I don't think.

Locust IIC is a clan battlemech with a stock 200 engine (139kph). This means it could have anywhere between a 210 (146kph) and a 280 (190kph). The LCT-IIC-8 in particular can go up to a 300 (209kph).

So no, not game breaking necessarily. But potentially. Up to PGI to decide how fast they want to let mechs go, just as is the case with the present IS Locust and Commando (which really should probably have a higher engine cap ever since PGI nerfed speed tweak).

Commando should actually only have a 210 using the formula, but PGI bumped it to on all of the normal variants except the 2D...because ECM OP. The TDK comes stock with a 175, so using the multiplier it ought to have a cap of 245.

Lolcust should go up to 225, without the artificial cap. Pirate's Bane would have 265 (lolololol).

So when a strange man goes "Hey kid, you really want some candy huh?", it's confirmed the kid is getting candy?

Firemoth <3

Used to love tearing up the joint in MW2 with that mech, so yes I would love a Firemoth! (or six)

So........basically clanners need a 20 ton mech for FW, now that the tonnage limit was dropped to 240???Posted Image

OH!!! I get it....my bad....took a sec. That's only way you can have a full dropdeck of 4 mechs and have 2 of em be Kodiak 3s. Makes sense. Clan dropdeck of dual KDK-3s and Piranha's.........that just sounds nasty!!!!!Posted Image

They could just lower the engine cap till it was slower than 169kph. Those arm weapons will be so OP!

We've needed a 20 tonner for a long time now. We've needed more light mechs in general.

So.... Yeah. This happened in game. Is totally relevant to the forum thread. Keep your eye on the chat. It doesn't mean Fire Moth confirmed, but it sounds like it is a 20-ton Clan mech, for sure.

I wouldn't say no to a Firemoth but I think I'd prefer the Piranha. 2 reasons, I love MGs, and I think that the Firemoth kinda looks like the Metatinator. The arms are a little too awkward for my taste.

I think the bigger news is that you captured a recent video of Russ playing the game. That's, like, rarer than legit Bigfoot sightings!
