For me personally,

This one hurts. A Lot.

If it wasn't for Star Wars and the amazing contributions that Carry Fisher brought to that franchise, I don't think I would have ever gotten into Battletech in the first place back in the 80's. (Hell, I don't even think Battletech would have existed without the Battle of Hoth being as amazing as it was.)

Rest In peace Carrie,

May the force be with you.... always.

2016. Good riddance. What an absolute horrid year. I feel like someone could do an even more awful and macabre version of Billy Joel's "We didn't start the fire" replacing all the events mentioned in the original with all the celebs who died this year.

Damn.

Star Wars was a seminal movie for me as a child when my mother took me to see it back in 1977. It pretty much was responsible for me going to college and studying engineering when I got older. Sad to hear of Carrie Fisher's passing.

I too felt a disturbance in the force. As if a great actress has been lost.

My heart goes out to Debbie Reynolds.. regardless of age, no parent should have to bury a child.

Carrie Fisher was just a few years older than mysef and in my mind atleast, she'll always be that sexy tough chick choking Jaba out in a slave girl get up.

Rest in Peace Carrie..

Seriously, between celebs and people of world importance... AND close family/pets, this year needed to cease existing and move to 2017 about 350 days ago. Can we get a RL timeline jump?

The last 12 months have sucked, started with Lemmy from Motorhead (died 28-12-2015) then proceeded to kill lots of my musical and cinema heroes throughout the year...

England's one Stephen Fry variety show short of being a real life V for Vendetta, an angry orange toddler is the leader of the "free" world, we passed the carbon ppm point of no return, {Godwin's Law}-lite is on the rise in Germany, Nationalistic fervor is growing around the world, outright lies and appeals to emotion have become more politically influential than even the most easily available facts and dozens of legends that made the world better in one way or another have died. 2016 can just **** right off.

I am glad she got to see the introduction of the "physical" female leads in the universe. My niece received a Captain Phasma lego set and was really happy. I am pleased that the characters are obviously female, but the roles they are playing have not been changed. This only makes the story more universal for us all.

I still feel anything I say is not enough

She died drowning in moonlight, strangled by her own bra.

In tribute to Carrie Fisher i will be painting all my mechs white for the rest of the day. That iconic white dress that she ran around in the Death Star. She did not have to rip off her skirt to show more leg. It was not ripped at the shoulders to show more skin. She has a lot to do with having tough female characters in cinema again. Even when she was forced to wear a slave outfit that she herself said,"Anyone behind her could see all the way to Florida." She was able to kill the Boss villain.
