I...I must have a moment of silence for someone great that passed away...

She'll be one with the force as we all be....

Pretty sure that's Natalie Portman as Queen Amidala, not Carrie Fisher as Princess Leia. But the message is well received.

I was on my way home from work yesterday afternoon when I got a splitting headache for no reason. On a red stoplight, I checked my phone to kill some time, and saw the news. I proceeded to miss my next 3 intersections.

There are so many modern fantasy heroines that kick *** based on male fantasy like Johansson's Black Widow or Saldana's Gamora. But none of them compare to Leia, who is more real and genuine, and not how man perceive she should.

I know most people will remember her with the golden bikini, but I will always remember her from her scene on Hoth, as defiant, witty, and courageous. Rest in peace, Carrie Fisher. 1000 years from now when humanity has spread to different star systems, people will still talk about the tale of a princess that saved the galaxy.

He is right, that really was a douche @ss comment. How the fok did you know she died because of smoking? So while everyone cheer her career, you, stand alone, trying to be all self righteous and preachy. I am surprised not more people lash out at you for being an @sshole.

I think he meant George Michael who died as well a few days ago. George Lucas is, as far as I know, alive and well. Also, 2016 needs to just end already!

England's one Stephen Fry variety show short of being a real life V for Vendetta, an angry orange toddler is the leader of the "free" world, we passed the carbon ppm point of no return, {Godwin's Law}-lite is on the rise in Germany, Nationalistic fervor is growing around the world, outright lies and appeals to emotion have become more politically influential than even the most easily available facts and dozens of legends that made the world better in one way or another have died. 2016 can just **** right off.

We really do live in a post-factual era.
Saying the truth is now considered edgy.
The internet was a mistake.

Was listening to that yesterday..... some Ziggy Stardust seemed the appropriate way to meditate on Carrie Fisher's life.

This year has been so full of downs, that the few ups I've had [such as getting married] barely scratch it.

Just a few more days guys, and 2016 will be over... 2017 will, hopefully, be better.

it, can't get any worse, can it?

Rest in Peace, Carrie... You helped make one of the most iconic films of all time.

things can always get/be worse. Thankfully it only ahs 3 more days to do so. And hey, it's the one year anniversary of Lemmy's death, for Metalheads everywhere... though in truth, how that dirty old codger survived anywhere near as long as he did may be life's ultimate mystery... *SMH*.

no, nit picking select facts to fit one's attempt to be provocative, and ignoring everything else that gives said facts context, is the issue, as you well know. Like ignoring the work she did promoting mental health awareness, etc.

But then, you wouldn't come across as an edgy badass, would you?

That should please the new Leader of the Free World.... I'm sure he has already made plenty off the book investments along those lines.

Must be nice having no short comings and feeling righteously entitled to ''cast stones" all willy nilly.

In NYC when 2 guys fist fight, they lock you both up for a night or until all charges are dropped.

I know this from.personal experience and more than a few occasions spending the night in the tombs under Manhattan where we see very quickly who the real bad asses are.

Hope that you never meet me. I do lockup standing on my head.

Perhaps in hindsight, compared to modern cinematography. Except that it was a catalyst for improved cinematic story telling.

But as I said earlier, Star Wars was a seminal movie. It inspired generations of writers, special effects people, game designers, artists, scientists, engineers, etc.

Not to mention Carrie Fisher's contributions (strong female lead, mental health awareness, etc.). A person's individual struggles are not relevant, especially in light all the positive things they've done.

Unless one is a pathetic dbag who can only feel better about their own pathetic life by picking at the flaws in other people.... especially those wildly more successful and contributory than they will ever be.

Never been to a memorial of any sort? Understand the concept?

Truth is fine and has it place. But don't use it as an excuse to come to a place where people are remembering, and expressing something positive and have in common, to be an ********.

internet anonymity... allows pathetic people to be even more vengeful and pathetic. Would love to see these trolls in public... not one would have the huevos to speak out.
