I don't have the power creep torsos for the 4E high mounts so don't suggest that. I'm not throwing $10 at a light mech.

But how do you make this mech do work? Adder I can do because it's got a lot more punch, but kit fox is a rough experience for me so far. Any advice?

Put UAC10 in the high mount, ECM, 3 ER small lasers. You're basically a boom Adder with less punch but ECM and high mounts. Use it to poke repeatedly with the 20 damage mid range alpha. If teams collide then get in there and start tearing people up with the small lasers and the UAC10 at once.

Alternatively you can throw a UAC5 in the high mount, equip jump jets in the legs with the S pods (and if you want you can get one S torso also for more jumping but its not needed) and then get your small lasers upgraded to SPL and function similarly to the UAC10 build but with poptart ability and more laser damage and less UAC damage.

Can also use ERPPC+2ERSL with ECM and jump jets and a lot of cooling and basically be an ECM viper that moves slower and has arms that don't fall off as bad.

Could even be a splat fox with a boatload of ASRM6.

If you're really a nut you can run a UAC20 and a couple small lasers and have less ammo than an Adder using the same build and jam repeatedly and die due to the UAC nerf.

Can't login atm, so I forget the modules but I run with 1 LPL, 2 MPLs in the arms, and 2 mgs + ecm. You can't go to far from your teammates but you can shank the crap out of mechs that are distracted by your team. Might be different at higher level play but in my pug runs it's a piece of cake to flank and get a lot of free shots with no return fire. I tend to get more damage in this thing then I do in the heavys I play.

Unless you really dig 3xAMS on a Light mech, stick to the Arctic Cheater.

If you like CQB you can try the SplatFox.

Maybe just use ERLLs and ECM to be a troll sniper.

3 AMS and ECM, don't stray away from your assaults, be an umbrella for them, that's it, you're now a useful Kit Fox

If you want to get kills, play Arctic Cheetah, it's the best mech for that

This is what I'm trying out. The KFX-S torsos have a -laser duration quirk on them so I put 2 ER larges, ECM, and so I'm not completely helpless when someone smart decides to rush the sniper down in their locust or cheetah I've got 4 mgs and a single small laser so I can tickle them before I die. Also there for when the opportunity to scratch an assault's back presents itself.

So far I'm loving how a single volley from even a 30 damage alpha can cripple the mech because it doesn't really have the speed to survive with that low armor. PUGs know kit foxes are easy kills, though-- I've baited a few times just to draw an enemy into a firing line, or allow a friendly to get behind and one shot them. Hilarious stuff.

paging fox with a shotgun!

my personal experience with the kitfox is that it's kinda feast or famine. some games i get 2 digit damage, some games i deal 700-800 plus and kill like 4-5 guys. obviously the latter is more rare. heh.

i'm tending towards the suggestion of simply not shooting anything that is looking at you. in other words, you're gonna be functioning as a damage amplifier, not a harasser or bomber, or anything else per se. the damn thing is slower than some IS mediums and has the longevity as a game of thrones character.

trying to play it as anything but an amplifier is just utter frustration.

I've come up with a couple builds that have worked well for me (but disclaimer, my clanner alt is down at Tier 3).

ECM+3xAMS + weapons of your choice. I put in the JJ side torsos, 3xERML, 4xMG.

Another favourite is ECM + NARC (2t ammo) + LPL + ERML. All 6 JJ's for stealthy pop-narcing.

These have worked well for me, but both kind of require an environment where LRM's are common.

Best build for me has been 1x cLPL + 2x cERML with ECM.

Second best has been 4x cMPL + 4x cMG

Third best has been 4x cSRM6 + 4x cOptimism

I can't launch this mech without the PPC and ECM. The rest is just normally a combination of MG's and small ER's.

Love the topic name too ;)

Try 1 LPL + 2 MEDS + 4 MG + ECM if you want kills. Since the MGs got buffed you can just go secure kills after most the enemy are cored.

Fox With A Shotgun has a good guide about the Kitfox, try it, it's really informative.

Monpax does pretty damn well in his K2, to be fair.
