They don't work on every battlemech, but few Inner Sphere weapons do. Give the Blackjack a shot if you really wanna give them a chance, though.

It has the most raw DPS, but the 8 cAC2 build actually has more sustained damage from the fact it actually got a heat reduction unlike the UAC2. Really they need to decrease the UAC2 heat as well and find a different way to make cACs useful.

The fact the LBX family for Clans still have screwed up velocities is silly to me; why do the LBX2 and 5 have the same velocity and why is the LBX20 so fast compared to all the other 20 class ACs? I do think damage should be increased across the board for LBX, but definitely the 2s and 5s considering their range.

VND-1X
Set to chain fire, and have a good laugh, I have yet to have that build over heat when on chain fire.

Maybe cut the heat down a bit on UAC2s, reduce jam chance, or increase DPS or at least give a cooldown option with skiltrees coming out and they'll be useful. Higher damage alpha DPS builds like dual UAC10 or triple UAC5 still outclass the quad UAC2s from my perspective.
People who chainfire them only make it worse for themselves, allowing full blown assault mechs to be taken out like light heavies due to inability to spread damage while keeping their DPS stable.

The jam changes went in with the UAC2 which actually gave it the best increase in raw DPS over the cAC2.

I'm not here to tell you how to build a good time, so if you love it than good for you. In my opinion, that Vindicator AC arm is too low, tho. And 2 1/2-tons of ammo for 3xAC2 is nowhere near enough, chain fire or no.
Remember, to make AC2 work, you're going to have to risk some face time. High mounts mean less exposure. Also you've got to bring lots of ammo. (2 tons/AC+1 is a formula that works for me).
I'd either bring more tonnage and with better hard points than a Vindi, like a Shawk 2H, or smaller and with better hardpoints, like a BJ-1.

While the SHD-2H is better, something to keep in mind is that there isn't just vertical poking, there is such a thing as side poking which is something the Vindi can do reasonably well, certainly better than the BJ-1 (but not the SHD-2H which is the best of the three). That said, that build given has not enough ammo, lacks Ferro, has full armor in an empty arm, and has a bunch of JJs that you don't really need since you don't normally poptart with AC2s (and most high places to camp from are vertical poke oriented and not side poke favorable).
Here is the more meta build: http://mwo.smurfy-ne...860a396f2107f89

It's a troll build, due to the geometry and face time required for it to do anything, I have yet to see it run out of ammo before getting butchered, when I am serious about running a Vindicator 1X, this is the build I actually run with it: VND-1X
That build actually works, and requires very little face time.

Yeah, but CAC/2 weighs 1 ton less and has a 900m range. Also, considering Clan Endo/Ferro, I rarely find space to be an issue with Clan AC/2 boats. When space becomes an issue, I sub 1 or 2 of my CAC/2 for UAC/2.

I use the CAC/2 for the 25% heat reduction, but can't fit 6 of them so I have to sub one for an Ultra.

How much ammo do you carry, and how do you keep it cool?
I run 675 rounds, but I routinely run dry in matches. But I still pull 700-1000 dog games. I just hate running around like a stick until the game ends.

Where do you feel these weapons are at right now, all things considered? Well balanced and underestimated? On the verge of reaching that sweet spot? Still vastly underpowered? What?
After the buff, I still don't see them very often. Does anyone have any good AC2 builds they've been using? I've been seeing an increase of quad AC2 Riflemen and triple AC2 Shadow Hawks, but not much else. Sometimes the CUAC2 boating Ultraviolet or Night Gyr, but those are still fairly rare.
i consider it useful in good numbers. 5 or more. 6UAC2 jade kite is funny and effective. still have to try a 8UAC2 dire. but i'll not use em in any way in less than 4.
i'm still waiting for the CD module of C-AC10.

I think the entire AC class needs a re-work. Shorten the reload, decrease the ammo/ton, and increase the heat penalty for grouped fire (2 or more should be almost insta-over heat suicide). Make ammo an issue and make heat an issue. If you want to fire the quad AC2 or quad AC5 then have it it, but watch your ammo counter and your heat meter closely or else you'll find yourself with no ammo and a shut down mech in no time. Play it smart and fire in bursts to conserve ammo and limit heat and you'll be fine.
It would be nice to see more light or medium (or even heavy and assault) mechs carrying a single or even paired AC2's and AC5's, but in this current version of MWO we'll never see it thanks to the ease in which lasers can be used. Why carry an AC2 when you can carry 4+ ML's and heat sinks.
ahh noo
no matter which battletech game you're playing the whole advantage for ballistics over lasers was the low heat, take that away and nobody will use ballistics.
laser has infinite ammo, light weight but produce the most heat
ballistics have limited ammo, heaviest weight but produce very low heat.
i don't know where missile fall lol
that's how it's been in all batttletech games.
