Dude, you've clearly never done a 1v1 on high enough level if you think that low-slung arms actually mean anything. On any currently existing map you will find at least 500m of open space around you, on most maps you can easily find more. Timber won't even get within 270m to fire a first shot with its face intact. It'll either have no CT armor at all, or it'll be half of the Timber left. AC10s vs SRMs+SPLs simply means 4-5 "free" shots for 20 damage each at least (most likely more). Thats 100 dmg put into your mech, you don't recover from that handicap against any build, let alone a ballistic DPS one.

As for lasers and SRMs "not spreading that much" ... maybe in some sort of underhive PUG match they don't.

Salesman or no salesman there is a reason why hero mechs are currently banned from some top tier player run leagues.

Same tier1 underhive anyone is from in here

If you suck with SRMs - your problem, not mine

If you can't wait till the opponent faces you to shoot - your problem, not mine

If you suck at positioning and can't use cover - your problem, not mine

You change circumstance to fit your conclusion, you suck at consistency

1) Pick a scenario

a) Brawl, both mechs in range

Posted Image Large map with 500m+ open space

In a) scenario Timber with the build I posted will win 9/10 times (I'll asume the 1 time IV4 gets lucky somehow)

In Posted Image scenario Timber will have a different build, will also wipe the floor with IV4

As for heroes being banned in comp play - it's cause they want to keep a level playing field, not cause the heroes are better, but because they create a pay wall, I really think an insult is appropriate in this sentence, so pick one you find most insulting and assume I called you that

Whatever really. I'm not in a mood to get "educated" by someone who never played anything outside of PUG queue.

So yeah, keep calm and stay delusional.

Point me again to a video where IS drops lead by IV4s vs Timbers.. oh right, no one brings IV4s cause they suck in reality and are only good on paper and only in somve very specific situations.

All are Clan mechs and its funny so many here are saying Inner Sphere mechs. On the bright side it makes it all clear.

Some cant lie at all, yet others will lie for nearly no reason at all, amazing really.

I'll pass, I'm too worn out from playing MWOWC and MRBC and far more interested in upcoming StarLeagueMWO. I've played through MWA 1v1 test season, and like all 1v1 tournaments it is too repetitive and less fun for me. I prefer playing a supposedely team game with an actual team. Plus, I don't consider tournaments that don't care about different time zones to be tournaments at all.

One person willing to back up his words, and one making weak excuses instead, yet again.
Doviskhan declared the winner.

In regards to this thread, I've found my kit fox, huntsman, and marauder IIC to be mechs I'm very confident in when facing off something within their tonnage range or lower alone. Clan kinda is in a great spot, confirmed.

Not to insert myself into Doviskhan's and Phoenixfire's pissing match above, but...

I am certainly one of the biggest fans of the Quickdraw in this game. I love my IV-4s to an unhealthy and unwise extent (I have three). I 1v1 with them often. But against a mech with a high alpha and a player who isn't an idiot, I lose almost every time.

Imho, If you are running the AC10 build either you face tank and rely on the 30% cooldown to get your licks in, while spreading damage vertically with JJ or wobbling to the extent you can; or you twist and hit in the traditional manner.

With the former strategy even popping off 2 AC10s as fast as you can, most bigger mechs can borrow through your STs pretty quickly, but even then, if they are smart, they just take off your arms. The latter strategy is even worse in that regard, as you eliminate the advantage of the 30% cooldown, and a good opponent in a high alpha mech (55ish or better) will just take your alpha, wait for the twist and then lop off that giant arm now perfectly aligned in their reticle. Now you have a loan AC10. When you bring that around your opponent will take that one too. Game over.

Yes, I have had successful 1v1s in my IV-4s, against all sorts of mechs. But against a decently built Timber against someone who knows how to hit my giant arms? I for one would not like my chances.

All depends on the map. For the existing 1v1 Steiner Coliseum map, these are best-for-tonnage 1v1 mechs i'm confident with (based on what i saw)
  • 30 tons - kitfox hero (will compete with up to 40 ton mechs)
  • 35 tons - spl jenner IIC with lesser engine (smth like XL265) for DHS boating
  • 60 tons - quickdraw IV-4 (will compete with up to 80 ton mechs), mad dog is close
  • 65 tons - jager-A (4srm4+2ac10/lbx10), linebacker is close
  • 85 tons - marauder IIC scorch
Also i'm pretty sure orion IIC lbx20+4srm6A would be the best brawler choice for 75. It just wasnt played enough to be confident with that statement.

And another thing. There is surprising amount of good 100-ton builds, and you literally cant choose the best. I would love to see just 100-ton tourney.

Saw a guy defeat an opposing 100 tonner, by using quad Gauss Kodiak-3 build in the previous CWX tourney. It was entertaining.

heh ty, well now that I'm in this I just hope I won't suck too bad :D

If the one I'm up against agrees for a 65 +-5 tons match I'll try out my Linebacker since it's my favorite overal mech in game

As I've said, whatever really. I don't own a hero Quickdraw otherwise I'd have suggested a 1v1 against him directly. If he wants to do that in different mechs I wouldn't mind.

So you don't even own the mech, yet speak for it as if you played it? Funny.

1. Remind me when I said that, cause I forgot.

2. We can duel to our hearts' content on January 21st--the day of the CWX tournament. They will send me a 1 day premium time to participate in it, and I am not willing to spend MC for PT just to duel with you. So be there, or be square.

I think the IV4 has the edge on a timber do to quarks at the moment. Think will change after the skill tre change

Not with that armor and xl engine. It's decent, definitely not as bad as some people say it is, but not as good as you think it is. That convergence and low slung arms is a real liability in half the maps

He (and you probably) doesn't own the mech either, and yet he speaks as if he played it all the same. The difference is that I've played it on MWOWC server so I actually do know what I'm talking about.

Unless range is a factor. The mad Inc scorch with 2 lb 20 and 4 srms6a is easily the deadliest thing head to head in the game.

Aye, I think Scorch is gonna be picked in this tournament.
