Here's my suggestion for a WHM-7S (C) build.

I run a comparable loadout in my Battlemaster Hellslinger and enjoy it as one of my favorite, all-around mechs.

The standard engine was upgraded to XL since this mech was converted to long range use. Armor was significantly increased from the standard issue for durability. AMS was retained since this mech will draw attention on the battlefield.
It carries 2 LLas, 3 SLas, a Tag and Beagle Active Probe. And most importantly, 3 LRM10s with 8t of LRM ammo.

It could be equally well used in a short range configuration. But this one plays out beautifully. As one of the slower heavies, it starts to deal damage as soon as the lights in the team have spotted first targets, delivering a steady stream of LRMs, while slowly moving to the front line. In parallel, it will start to poke with the large lasers once targets get in sight. LRM and Large Lasers are fired alternating to maintain heat. Once you reach medium distance you are dealing optimal damage. Once ammo is depleted, you then get into close quarters. With the LRM spent, remaining heat is acceptable.

Slight variations are possible. Also a 2x LRM 15 combo works well, if you prefer symmetry. The unique point with using LRM / Large Laser Combos, is to comb the battlefield from back to front. This can be additionally tuned by the type of your torso energy weapons. Artemis can be added at the cost of some ammo, armor, or AMS. The only drawback of this build is a bit of heat, if firing too agressively. But this is primarily intended as a support mech.

I know this has zero chance of winning this late in the game, but just in case anybody is paying attention
here is the "correct" meta laser vomit XL WHM 6D.

Maybe this has been posted already, but the couple I looked at had some of the med lasers in wonky positions.

That said, vote for Nightstalker's std engine WHM 6D instead, which is on the first page.

Heres my WHM-6D build. Kinda similar to Nightstalker's one though :/

STD 300- A 'standard' engine that can be shared with multiple different builds, and will likely to be used often by starting mechwarriors due to the versatility of the engine, so they might as well get used to it.

3LPL and 2 ML with 7 heatsinks - A rather basic laser vomit setup will allow new players to get used to the laser weapons, especially the LPL and the MLs, which are the bread and butter of most mech builds.

While firepower is low, it is compensated with higher heat efficiency, which means that it is a lot more forgiving for newer players, especially given that as of now, this mech will not benefit from skill tree bonuses.

The weapons are located on the rather high torso mounts, which while will not allow new players to learn about arm usage ( note that most newer players will play with arm-lock on), and also not allow them to learn about the 'knuckle-dragger' effect, it will be rather easy for new players to use rather efficiently.

The lack of weapons on the arms will also allow newer players to use the arms as shield arms (though armor on the arm is rather low) and having the weaker MLs on the right torso will encourage some level of right torso shielding.

Range of the weapons are also within the usual pug engagement range, with the LPL allowing newbies to engage in a slightly longer range.

1 AMS - Especially important to protect new players from LRM spam prevalent in low tier games.

Hopefully encourage more AMS use in the game :3

Armor - Slightly more back armor for newb-friendlyness

Based off the Meta version. The mech is designed to introduce new pilots to the play style of the fast heavy vomit trader.

Runs three large pulse lasers and only 3 medium lasers instead of the normal 4-5 in order to make the heat more manageable for un-mastered mechs and novice pilots.

The other deviation from the Meta build is the Addition of an AMS system to help new pilots survive in LRM-land tier 5 without access to Radar Deprivation modules.
