Makes no sense to spend the 70 tons now on a 2 ER PPC Summoner, when a 50 ton Hunchback 2c does the job equally well. The ONLY reason to take the mech, was because it was quirked. Now, I cant see a reason to take it.
Typical PGI, take a machine gun to a mosquito.
Clueless devs are clueless. Wish I could say I was surprised.
Its a shame too, cause it was my favorite mech. Looks like it will be mostly shelved now.
gg close PGI

It's still good. Mcgral18 even showed you can still get energy quirks with it.

I myself haven't seen any problems with it still. I still have mine setup the same. A bit hotter is all, and still tanky. Small unnecessary nerf, but it's still playable.

Not really a small nerf, they cut 20% off the velocity and removed the heat gen altogether. It wouldnt be that big of deal, except a 50 tonner can do the job just as well. I think thats my biggest issue.

The issue is that it hurt any build that DOESN'T take the cER PPCs.

That's the only way I see the summoner as a viable build too. I take torso energy and load them with PPCs, then put in 3 small pulse lasers in the arms as backup, and then load up with as many DHS as I can.

double uac5 nipple 4x medium laser arms summoner was one of my go-tos but with the clan blanket nerfs the chassis has been bottlenecked into only a couple decent builds.

And sure, it has some minor energy quirks now, but not worth spending 70 tons on.
I realize I'm in a small pool of people that even own the mech, so most probably dont realize how big the nerf was.

Its faster, has more dhs (in my builds), more armor and has more quirks.

Is that worth the tons? That's up to you

I own one myself. I just noticed my weapons are a little hotter than usual.

Understand, I'm just speaking for the 2 ER PPC build. I would now rather take the hunchback at 50 tons. If Im going heavy, the Summoner is now relegated to middle of the pack. Why take it over an Ebon Jag or a Hellbringer, both mechs weighing 5 tons less, with more firepower. Or for that matter, just spending the 5 tons and going Night Gyr or Timber?

it's all on preference honestly. the higher mounts allow me, I'm my eyes, to poptart easier without having to worry about low mounts, all the while being able to move at a good speed.

I guess it's just me and how I play the game I guess.

When grouping and tonnage is at a premium, I just dont see how the Summoner is worth taking now. Yes, its a good poptart, but at the end of the day, its only carrying 2 ER PPC's at 70 tons. It was worth taking b4 the nerf, now, not so much.

whatever makes your day. I don't dispute that you wouldn't want to take it as a drop deck mech.

Loyalty Summoner still has some quirks for PPC poptarting. Better than nothing--and HBK-IIC has nothing. Once I get the Loyalty version for C-Bills, I'd run it on Polar, Alpine, Frozen, etc... for sure, in CW.

More armor? Yes.

Quirks? +10% velocity and +5% more range

Faster? No, Hunchback IIC still runs faster.

More heat sinks? Yeah, exactly one more, lol.

And btw Hunchback still has better hardpoints. PPCs on the Summoner are still below the cockpit, in the Hunchback they're cockpit height.

And that for 20 tons more? In Solo quick play u can do it against potatoes but in faction play? Hell no.

Its not faster, but whether or not the 4 kph matters to you is up to you. I too think the nerf was heavy handed.

Nicely summed up. Not just faction play though, any group play.

Well i ran two match right after you posted, one with the hunch one with the summoner. both were about the same. Both were way to good for 2 weapons.

Its still my view clan ppc needed the nerf not the summoner.
