Personally, I prefer this version because it has his line at the end. I really need to get around to making a clean version of the full scene.

After being a paying customer since just after launch, I left the game after the light nerf, final straw. I check the forums once a month or so and didn't expect to see this topic. "Did lights actually get a buff?" I wondered. But nope, just another bad player who realized the power of a slightly smaller mech in a tier where no one can shoot. Back to being sad about Mechwarrior :(

If you want to experience true power, go play around with the mist lynx that is on trial.

this guy (Caylerea) flanked enemy in seconds, cause he has so much speed, he can deliver alpha as heavy mech, if enemy will spot him - he can survive alpha from enemy heavy mech and run away or get behind him and stay out of his reach forever.

Light mechs need their Alpha reduced.

Boy, just look at those OP stats

That's over 200 average damage! Whoa!

I suspect the nerf lights crowd.

Are the same minds that brought us class I jump jet nerfs and a lot of bad ideas I can't remember right now.

Before i mostly played on heavies or assaults, rarely meds, but almost never light.

Today i took light mech to make for myself new experience from this game. And i found that survivability of light mech on battlefield is many times higher than heavy or assault mech for example(light mech can get to any location on map in seconds, light mech can survive alpha from heavy or assault mech). And light mech can deliver alpha almost as high as heavy mech. And more of that - most light mechs has quirks for cooldown and/or heat generations, so their DPS is also almost same as heavy mech.

Im not going to make any math of this, this is just my feels after using light mech. I almost feel like im cheating when playing in light mech.

For example this video.

How long did it take to find a video of an garbage light mech pilot that was lucky enough to end up facing the few pilots worse than they were.

Seriously....Those guys were terrible his aim was terrible and he didn't even make use of the mobility available to him.

He pinged the half enemy team before even firing and not once did any one respond or apparently hear that someone had locked onto them.

The Rifle man AND Blackjack pilot never once turned around to see what was shooting them in the back. A clear indicator that neither pilot can read their HUD elements correctly.

Apparently nobody on that match ever heard of a siezmic sensor.

The Arctic cheetah pilot while engaging the Battlemaster didn't seem to notice the Battlemaster had stripped off alot of leg armor and even after legging it and stripping the leg armor off the other leg just sprayed the upper body with inaccurate hailmary shots all the while spiking his heat and risking his head structure cooking off.

There was so much wrong in that video this should have been titled how not to play MWo.

If such garbage light mech pilot could pull of something like this - it shows only how OP light mech is, that even potato facerolling keyboard can actually do serious damage to enemy. If you put same garbage potato player in heavy or assault mech - he will achieve nothing, cause he will just die by walking in the opened area where everyone will shoot him (cause even other potatoes on the enemy team can shoot slow big mech moving across open area).

The only reason that cheetah pilot was somehow successful is because the enemy team let him do that.

Btw, if you roll a heavy like a light you won't make it (unless the other team lets you) just as when you pilot a light mech like a heavy.

Your pointing to a single video, of an exceptional situation, of an exceptional mech and an exceptional performance as the basis for a broad brush statement of "light mechs need their alpha reduced" and "Nerf light mechs". That is not only disingenuous but frankly absurd.

Yes, if a light gets in your back field, at the right time (say during a fire fight) with a player who has great situational awareness and composure and that light just happens to be the best light in the game; then yes a perception can be created that that light mech, in that player's hands, in that circumstance is OP. But the reality of 95% of normal regular play is not that exceptional. To suggest that PGI nerf an entire class of mechs because of that sort of idealized circumstance is just stupid.

Post me a few hundred video's of Panther 10Ps, or Locust 3Vs, or Anansis, or Mist Lynxs being regularly used by "potatoes facerolling their keyboards" and doing "serious damage to enemy" regularly and consistently and then you might have an argument justifying a nerf to all light mechs. But pointing to a single great match by someone in what is arguably the best light in the game does not a good argument or a good nerfing decision make.

I just had that the other day myself.
Got into an enemy's back at long range.
Yay, one free alpha in his back.
He won't turn, not even twist.
Well ... okay ... then ... another alpha.
And another one.
He fell over dead.
I wondered what he was thinking while his damage indicator HUD was losing it.

As long as MWO finds even more terrible people it can oppose to him then this can happen. probabyl every mech would have performed "op" vs these people.

Stick to what you know and stay away from Lights.

Your few hours in a Light, without almost any experience, and come back with these suggestions just shows that you need to go back to other weights but Light or at least get another hundred hours driving a Light before you make any further 'suggestions'.

I totally agree with the original poster.

Light mechs comprise about 5% of played mechs. This number is unacceptable, it's to damn high. PGI should work more on the balance to decrease the population of light mechs to 1% or lower.

This post is like saying the rogue classes in D&D are so very op because they get extra damage for backstabbing .. witch is the only thing with there stats that make them viable, even good if used properly but that is only if you can do it at the right time and the right circumstances witch is not all the time.. it's actually a lot less reliable as just a plain frontal assault from other classes, so basically risk reword kind of a deal , but he come to the conclusion that it's kryptonite to those who can't aim and can't be bothered to turn around to see who is stabbing them in the back...

It's a game mechanic , learn it by doing it until someone counters it or by it being done to you enough times you bother to counter it.

I had a similar experience last week, domination on frozen city - three enemy assaults where lurming and sniping from the ridge onto the circle. I parked the little locust just behind them behind a little piece of cover and started melting the back armor of the the guy in the middle, he never even responded or moved and thus he dropped in between the other two - the other two also never wondered where the guy in the middle suddenly disappeared to.

You're right though, the extra line at the last part does add a lot.
Still, perfect GIF for this whole thread.

Better keep this GIF handy, this seems to be so appropriate with all the salty AF nerf "X" posts.
At least people clamoring for XL balances do have a valid argument.
