Lol. The 3S is a stunt mech, no more.

Dude... barely. You can take 3 SRM2s on a Locust with sufficient ammo. Its hard to do missiles on a 20 tonner. Very hard.

The problem with that Locust is it has no spare space for that ammo due to being only 20-tons and, IIRC, up to 4M vs this one's 6, and forget about jump jets.

That said, if they ever released a jump capable Locust, I'd be laughing all the way to Barcella. That thing would probably be too much fun to fly.

Better than a mech that's superseded by the Jenner 2C's or Oxide. The Raptor is unique, the Javelin is nostalgia bait in it's purest form.

The Javelin is unique in the terms of this game, where the only firm line in the sand in Clan/Inner Sphere. The IS now has a light missile mech you don't (Or wont, I guess) have to pay for.

I know SRMs aren't currently everyone's cup of tea, and LRMs certainly aren't, but I'm surprised by how few people are willing to at least give it the credit it definitely deserves. When we got down to it, there were only three good options for release this month - A 20 ton Clanner (Shot down before announcement), The Raptor (Opening up the IS to Omnimechs), and the Javelin (Missiles being the only thing IS lights can't do).

I know the other two probably would have been better, but why is everyone getting so hissy about third place? For ****s sake, everyone's acting like they released the Dart or something.

A locust with JJ's. Urgh i think i'd have to stop playing due to constant praying to the porcelain goddess.

I'm gonna pass on this one. Look forward to buying it for C-bills though. Probably a fun mech. Just not worth all the money they're asking for.

15 bucks for 3 mechs isn't a good deal? It's cheaper than even the lowest cost mastery pack, and the pre-order goodies.. (aka 3 colors are the best pre-order bonus in a very long time) Between that and the 6.5m C-bills this is super tempting.. On top of the fact i really love the hard points on um.. the perfect missile mech to sqeeze in between my Commando's and ravens.. hard points like a commando, and the weight to actually use um! Plus it will unlock mid level loyalty, so bonus yet to be named +30% c-bill bonus mech..

all and all pretty much the best deal on a 3 mech deal to date with all those goodies.. Yup I'm sold!

I'm just leery about it because i can get mechs that do it, but are 5 tons heavier. Yes they have worse everything, but they can do what it can and carry more. If IS had Streak 4/6's i'd wager the Javelin would be a god among mechs.

I'm sure i'll warm up to it before the bonus period comes up. It is cheap so there's no real cost holding me back and as a IS light player i should give it a fair chance.

What if i told you If they did release the dart, i'd give it a chance. gotta go fast

I kept looking at the cockpit and thinking "That reminds me of something... What is it?" It just clicked for me. Alex's model of it here makes me think of the Annihilator's head. Scale that up by like, 6x, and add a giraffe neck, and you've got an Annihilator cockpit.

Close. But the Annihilator head seemed to be a bit more elongated, don't you think? Always kinda looked like a dinosaur head.
Javelin's is a bit similar no doubt.
All these cool IS mechs coming out are giving me a hard case of MW2 Mercs nostalgia.
I really need to make an IS Merc account...

It's 15 bucks for 3 mechs with no upgrades. Upgrades alone would amount to 6 million C-Bills for all 3 mechs. Viable XL engines spike the cost up an other 12+ million if you don't have a bunch of spares sitting around and don't want to play the engine swapping game.

Plus, Spiders cost about 1000 MC each for a standard variant. Assuming Javelins cost about the same, that's about 1300 for a mech + bay, which is just over $5 per mech. You're getting much less for your money compared to the heavier mech packs at $20

Unless PGI really ***** up this timeline/tech advancement, the IS should have Streaks by the time the Javelin drops. I'm actually surprised it doesn't have them on a made up variant just to get people hyped.

Hey, wait a... except for the hero, these are all canon designs. Damn.

Different strokes, I suppose. But my point being was that the Dart offers pretty much nothing - It's an energy light, which may be the most saturated role in the game.

Suppose it would be fast as hell, though.

well the base pack, I can see myself really getting behind the 8XSRM2 or 8XStreak2, SRM16, and 4 MPL builds.. Yup those will be first on my list..

I'm betting the IS will be getting streak 4s & 6s this summer so there is that.

There's only SRM 6 on the hero. I'm rather surprised as well. Since they made a big fuss about new tech and the announcement of the Jav.

I just like fast mechs and mechs that aren't ammo reliant.

Wait, people don't play that game?

Of the 22 mechs I currently have, only 8 of those have engines. And 3 of them are omnimechs. I'd gut them if I could.

Hey, I'm happy for everyone who wants to buy it.

Posted Image

But when people talk about how buying stuff for MWO is "a good deal", it reminds me of people who insist that buying a $500 ship in Star Citizen is a "good deal", based on how much time it would take them to buy it with game currency, or how much better it is than other ships, and all that. Same thing with any game where you can spend real money, really. Clash of Clans. Or when HBS is trying to sell Battletech merchandise and they're offering the Atlas resin statue for $200, and people on the forum said that was "a good deal". Just a matter of perspective, really. For me, it's not worth the money, that's all.

For people with Spiders this is a good deal. I can pull some of my XL's from them and end up with a cheap to upgrade mech that doesn't cost much up front. The colors are a nice addition. I laid out the cash for the standard and reinforcements already. I will do my part to encourage light mech sales.

I suggested this in another thread, but I really think PGI should have decided that $1 was roughly equal to X million C-bills. So if you buy a mech pack with a total worth of Y million C-bills and it costs 15 dollars, then.. you get 15X - Y = Z million extra C-bills, for any mech pack you buy.

From what i gathered, the next 2 mechs are going to be the last with old tech.. the new tech mechs will start with the 4 packs coming in april/may is it?
