Greetings MechWarriors. Today I have a simple question. If you woke up one day and you are somehow the balance overlord of PGI, everything in this universe has been changed to accommodate this change in profession, even your 5th grade Math Teacher, how would you change MW:O?

BUT WAIT! Before you answer! There's a balance to your decisions. Every buff must be met with a nerf, alternatively, every two intelligent changes must be met with a stupid decision that the community will focus on and hate you for. The positive changes cannot outweigh the negative ones for this purpose.

Remove all quirks every mechs
Add battle values.
Balance the team not the mechs.

So says the Balance Lord.

Is the bad thing adding battle values, or did you skip the second part?

Burst fire auto canons for all. More in line with lore, with their own advantages and draw backs.

Would that be enough to count towards both smart and dumb choices?

Sorry, i know i saw the rules i broke them(did best i could). At this point i believe the system is about as good as its going to get. Really, its better than it has ever been. If we want better or different we're going to have to change.

Change the "O" in MWO to offline, that's both a buff and a nerf.

Do as you please because balance has been achieved.

Bonus point: I kept the game's name practically intact.

I'd continue with the same old, same old, but start allocating resources and trusted men. I'd start treating PGI employees like good friends and family, slowly making them become indebted to me, all while I slowly make Russ less and less liked by the other employees. And when the time was right, I'd stage a bloody coup, with public executions of all those who oppose me.

Then I'd buff flamers and jump jets.

Hm. An interesting challenge. A lot of my decisions would be more in line with minutiae adjustments like numbers tweaks to lasers that'd collectively count as a big fat buff/nerf parade. Unfortunately the thing I'd really like to do - integrate the MWO PTS client into the main launcher (already being done, yay!) and utilizing weekend events that have to be played ON THE PTS in order to earn rewards for your main account in order to incentivize proper testing on the Public Test Server, are beyond my powers as the Balance Overlord.

So. Balance. Hm...

Buff/Smart: Aggressive tackling of The Engine Issue, testing a suite of durability/tanking bonuses to STD engine classifications and various attempts to find a Different But Equal solution to the XL imbalance problems, beyond "make the iXL into an exact carbon-copy clone of the cXL".
Nerf: Dumb: Reduce cDHS bonus capacity back to 2.1, rather than 2.5. Clans didn't need it, or rather they did need it but don't really deserve it.

Buff/Smart: Rejigger jump jets for more even performance, scaling primarily on number of installed jets rather than weight of installed 'Mech (three jets on a Shadow Hawk gets you roughly the same jump performance as three jets on a Highlander), combating the Poptart issue by having crosshair jitter during jump decay over time after the jets cut off rather than snap back into focus instantly. 'Mechs with huge numbers of jets, like the Viper, are tuned to damn near achieve orbit.
Nerf/Dumb: Drastically reduce jump jet recharge rate, in an attempt to make when-do-I-jump a more nuanced, tactical choice rather than simply hopping all the time, meaning players get much better jump jets they can use far less often. Because that's exactly the sort of sadistic torment that I, as the Balance Overlord, delight in giving to my players.

Buff/Smart: Investigate Scarecrow's dual heat bar system, from the Energy Draw PTS, as a method of introducing Tabletop-style heat penalties to MWO in a manner which would actually be fair and relatively intuitive to the player.
Nerf/Dumb: allow Coolant Pods to apply to the penalty bar first, at full effect, acting as an instant "get out of heat problems free" card and mostly defeating the point of introducing a TT-style heat penalty bar in the first place.

Heh...how's that for a start?

Ok, another one

75% spread nerf on all lrms.
150% spread buff on artemis on lrms.
This would turn lrms into los weapon and maybe make them worth taking.

Clan ppc no more splash 15 pinpoint game breaking dmg :)

'whistles' That really IS a terrible idea. I can't wait to see LRM 20's never hit anything without Artemis equipped.

Thats the idea. Time for the lrm boat to get up and get los of the mech. If they have to use locks from other players there shots are going to suck.

Pretty much me, but for real I have no idea what I do, may ask the community what the best course and use data in conjunction and all the glorious balancing magic they do.

Thing is, non Artemis LRM boats still need to get LoS usually for reliable locks anyways. So unless you give up the tonnage/crits for Artemis, you're just going to have worthless weapons. Still, seems like something that an insane, power hungry balance overlord would do, so good job on ya.

Phhhtttt. Easy.

Buff and stupid all in one:

Return to the Quickdraw H...no...wait...return to just MY Quickdraw H its glorious 1000% SRM cool down that mere mortals should never have been allowed to taste.

Nerf...uh...how about -1 off their current structure on the legs.

Sound fair.

Since this is a humor thread I refuse to be baited into another discussion/vent on how I really think this game ought to be fixed.

You should trial them for Heresy as well, it'll good test for buffed flamers.

Oh, right, that's another change. I'd have them add melee, but the Nova with a sword would be added to the game as well.

How is THAT a dumb/bad design decision? That'd be awesome! Imagine a Nova jumping over the hill and hitting an Atlas on the head with it's sword!
