I'm a long time player (about 4 years now), and play about 95% clan on this account. I've got a fair amount of IS mechs I collected before the clan invasion or picked up while bored and waiting for new clan mechs to come out. I wanted to know if it'd be worthwhile to create an alternate account where I focus on IS mechs to take advantage of things like easy c-bills in the beginning or play them when IS has a much shorter line in FP.

Does any one with separate accounts for each Tech tree find it to be worth the time or do you think its better to keep one account and take advantage of the money earned by the other tech?

It depends on who you are playing with. I am part of a loyalist IS group, therefore it makes no sense for me to make a heavy investment in clan tech since I won't be able to use it in FW. If you're group is merc it doesn't matter. If you just want the other mechs in quick play it doesn't matter. If you want FW and you're unit is loyalist with no intention to change and you REALLY want to play the other side in FW, then an alt makes sense.

I have 2 accounts one for clan and one for IS. The clan account doesn't get played as much, but at least I don't need to leave my unit to play clan CW if I want to. Just log out and back in on the other team so to speak.

depends on your reasoning.

I run Alt Accts, and would not have it any other way. But that is partly because as a long time RPG guy in the franchise, I just have trouble being "Bishop Steiner" in Clan Ghost Bear (Although one Clan, the Cloud Cobras, actually do have ta Steiner Bloodname). I like to keep my tech bases separate.

But for most, it really doesn't matter. In fact, sometimes, people would view it as too restrictive. But I have run two accts for over 3 years, and enjoy it.

*Do keep in mind, you can only use ONE of those accounts to comment on the forums and such, and actually are breaking the Terms of Use, for being here and can be disciplined if you do use both accounts to do so.*

yep would be nice

You get a free heavy or 2 worth of cbills from training grounds and cadet bonus, the biggest advantage of 2 accounts besides playing other side instantly as a loyalist and CAN STILL PLAY AT FULL CBILL INCOME on your 2nd account while waiting for pgis stupid 7 day desertion penalty to expire instead of playing less/getting upset about your lack of cbills coming in. You also have 80/120 % more free mech bays available to het for free with lvl 6 mech bay tour.

I'd rather just keep every thing on one account. We already have the is/clan mech filter. Having both in one account means you can instantly go from messing around in a spider to the godly timber wolf with ease instead of remembering you have it on an alt and have to switch. If you do the cw stuff you can have drop decks for both sides ready which is helpful for mercs.

I have one for IS due to being a clan loyalist. I often find myself missing the unlocks and modules I have on the main one though.

The only reason to have a alt is to play the other side if you are a loyalist. Not sure why anyone would want to be a loyalist in this game though, as mercs get a much better deal...

A downside to multiple accounts is having to buy the unlocks for shared modules (radar dep, advanced zoom, seismic, etc). But with the skill tree moving everything to each mech maybe that downside will go away.

Don't use alt accounts is my advice. My single account has going onto 700 mill and every mech fully outfitted I want and lots of MC.

Alt accounts would take away from having a great account.

Depends why you want it.

I made one for the what Mech challenge, which will get forgotten about once it's done to my satisfaction,at which point i'll drop if from the challenge Unit.I also thought about having a clan account, for FW, when being a loyalist had a point.

But generally speaking I don't think it's worth it.

If I could go back and set up an alt IS account I would, as I have a large stable of IS mechs I would like to be able to take in to FW if the mood strikes me, but alas like so many other backwards A$$ things in this game I can not. Oh hey want to gift MC as a potential item for contests? Too fricking bad you can't. ggclose.

I did set up an alt for playing the clans. I'm about 98% IS, but when I started playing clans, the cadet bonus was desirable to go for. Also didn't feel like grinding clan modules on my main.

Thanks everyone for all the insights into why you have and why you use 2nd accounts. I'm a clan loyalist so I'm considering it mostly for FP purposes though it'd admittedly be a bit of grind to get all those IS mech's leveled up and grind the C-bills. I think the new skill tree will help in making that decision.

I'm torn..

On the one side, separate accounts, let you earn double rewards for events.. so often i can earn bonus MC on both, or i pick and choose which one i want the rewards on. You can often get a couple days premium free, so it makes for a nice grind weekend.

You can also play both sides in faction war, and not have to worry about the breaking contracts/loyalty..

the down side is 2 accounts, so if you want to buy premium, it costs twice as much.. So in that case, had i only one account, i would probably have spent the 50 bucks when premium was on sale for 50% off. With two accounts i don't buy it twice, so i just stick with day passes. But at this point my accounts are fairly well boosted with mechs, and XP it is not such a big deal.. though i'm sure with the new system i will have to play a good year to finally finish off all the mechs i already own.

For me, it has not been that great of an idea, as i did it mainly for CW and i dont really play that, so in my case i semi regret the two accounts.. but at the same time, if a friend ever stops by we can both play.. (if my other comp ever gets working again)

So really IMO the only down side is premium time, and unlocking colors.. the big up side is being able to do both sides in FW, and the random bonus MC+item events that you can end up earning a bit more on..

I wouldn't mind being able to change my name at will in the game. Otherwise, I've little interest in maintaining two separate stables of robits.

Just play with a Merc unit that rotates between factions. It's what I did. I am already spending enough time with one account and one unit; there is no reason for me to double that.

Level 6 mech bay tour, 20 bays or 40. I needed 40 for all my mechs.

I have an alternate account as a personal challenge. It is 100% F2P, no money spent. I don't log into this account much, only 378 matches to date and it is quite a grind. I use this account to relax a bit. Playing in higher tiered matches requires a bit more focus. I'm a high T4 with this account.

It helps if the other side needs folks to Q for skirmish, but that would be against TOS and is not really allowed (heee haha laugh to make fun of comment)
