Summoners got hit pretty hard with the shift of the -10% energy heat generation quirk to the worthless crap stain side torsos.

It was more or less the lynch pin that enabled the 2x LPL & 4x ERML or Gauss & 5x ERML builds to stand up against other laser vomit mechs. Since the Summoner lacks the tonnage to actually put on enough heatsinks to manage such builds, I believe it's going to have a rather tough time unless reconfigured to the now staple nipplemoner loadout. PGI's way of "encouraging build diversity," I guess?

That laser vomit build that finally became available on the Summoner with the loyalty pods is going to go from generating 39,6 heat per strike back to the default 44. It may not seem that much, but on the total 18-19 DHS that you can fit onto that build, it's going to sting a lot.

In that case, repeat the following chant after me:

Sooooo omnimechs will basically be battlemechs with the further set of 8 crap? Actually no, not quite battlemechs, not quite omnis......omnitards - that's it! Where you are discouraged from switching out pods on something that was built for podswitching.
Nothing new, just can't help but think it's a strange mechanic for balancing, maybe over time it will seem less odd.

The whammy - will still be fine, just now instead of walking in the open and tearing up a lance single handed, you'll have to be more careful

Apparently the those who are against the Warhammer nerf and claim that what about the clan heavies? They are forgetting ALL clan mechs are getting an xl nerf as well and this covers ALL clan mechs.

The Clan XL nerf only decreases heat dissipation and capacity (equivalent of losing 4 Trudubs).

It doesn't really register with the comp folks.

I would love to see a warhammer go 1vs4 single handed and win, unless the 1 is Proton, and the 4 is tier 5 lrm nubs at 50m.

The XL nerf does nothing about the balance in XLs. It's irrelevant to that issue. It does affect direct weapon balance because it affects how the mech performs when is half dead.

Which is still a pretty minor factor. It's like saying that the Urban mech has 360 torso rotation. Okay, that is nice but it's overall a very minor balance factor. Certainly doesn't come into real consideration to the Urbie in overall balance.

So this was a case of "balancing from the middle" then? I thought we were supposed to be balancing from the top?

No, this balance by potato. You don't balance by Tier 5.

1) Oh, please - nothing like shoving backward politics into a post about gaming...

2) Yes, yes - its lots of fun for the players who do their research beforehand and only buy the meta-mechs so they can stomp "stupid noobs" who bought a trash-tier mech...

3) It's a game, not a career choice. I'm dang tired of listening to nutty desires to make games as unforgiving as real-life. Picked the wrong college major - "haha, sucks to be you!" Picked the wrong mech? "Haha, sucks to be you!"

1) I illustrate my thoughs like I want. Are you the thought police?

2) My problem is a lack of reliabiltity, when I invested time and money in a game. And I like to build and play "weak" mechs too, because I like diversity and challenging tasks.

3) Are you some kind of SJW?

They are the strongest IS heavy, so they are overperforming compared to other IS heavies, but IS heavies in general just pale in comparison to Clan heavies.

Which is what I believe is PGI's intention behind this. If they want to get the data for the IS equipment buff after the new skill tree, the IS mechs need to be at the same place balance-wise. PGI even acknowledged the equipment imbalance at the top of the notes, they don't see IS vs Clan heavies, or any weight class, being equal right now.

Gosh, well I sure am relieved that they brought it in line with the POS Archer.

Edit: Also, if you look at the current quirks, the Archer has more structure quirks than Warhammers do.

No it does not. Right from the Store in game...

Archer:

ARC-2R: 52 total structure
ARC-5S: 76 total structure
ARC-5W: 70 total structure
ARC-T: 84 total structure

Warhammer:

All four variants: 90 total structure

True it only registers with the majority of the community that is NOT comp folks.
