So really something interesting here guys....this summer if they go into the FedCom Civil War era the buckets will need to be changed to reflect this era better but at only 2 buckets where does that leave us? Do we go east vs west? What alliances would form the two halfs for FW?

If the population increases with the new tech and skill tree then perhaps it might support the inclusion of more buckets.

Wouldn't the Factions be split between four major groups then?
For example: Steiner/Davion/Wolf in Exile, Crusader Clans, Ghost Bears/FRR, and Kurita/Nova Cats/ and Others?

The problem is the post-Invasion era is basically litered with infighting. Most of the combat is happening inside of factions, not between them.
I predict that we're just going to ignore all that and stick with Star League vs. Clans. The only question is - If they add the clans that 'swapped' sides after or during Operation Bulldog, are they going to be on the IS side, or the Clan side? I assume Clan side, if only because doing otherwise is just going to throw a big, fat wrench into the IS/Clan mech divide.

Well Wolf be split into two the Exiles and Crusader Wolf (Or renamed them Jade Wolf to not cause confusion). They could add Steel Viper or Star Adders forgot which one join the invasion late, replace Jagaurs with Nova Cats but they would be part of the DC. So Hell Horses take SJ spot.

Attack the Ghost Bear Dominion you say?
Sorry I did my home work on that, it never ends well for anyone that does something that stupid.

It makes more sense for them to create inter-faction events. Than buckets running all the time. Course if all that amounts to is them opening up temporary in-fighting. It's going to be the same stuff we've been doing since CW came. They need to do some work "events" that are actually tailored to what is happening. Not reusing maps and just labeling it as new content.
They should create maps to replicate events in the timeline and add in mechanics to represent the aims they were trying to achieve in those events. You know, actual content.

Things That Aren't Going To Happen in MWO That Happened In Lore:
1.) The Annihilation of Clan Smoke Jaguar
They've allowed people to buy CSJ stuff, they've made it an Official Joinable Faction, and Piranha doesn't have the clout to simply eliminate a loyalist faction like that, especially when they've made such a hack job of "doing the lore" so far. We may get Operation Bulldog/Serpent events, but they'll be Tukayyid-style things that have no lasting impact. The Smoked Jerkwads will, unfortunately, linger on far past their time.
2.) The Ghost Bear Dominion/Clan Nova Cat Enclave/Wolves-In-Exile
You're not getting Clan factions aligned with the Inner Sphere. Piranha's tech balancing between factions for FW is wonky enough, especially when the inverse (Inner Sphere powers aligned with the Clan overall agenda) never occurs. No, the GBD doesn't count. We'll get deckles and that's about it.
3.) The Federated Commonwealth Civil War
We would have to have a Federated Commonwealth before it could have a Civil War. A Federated Suns/Lyran Commonwealth conflict would just be a regular old war.
4.) Clan Diamond Shark/Sea Fox
Because at this point it's like the Quads and Juodas thing - if it happened, what would Restos do with his life?
5.) Quads
Case in point

Too bad they are not jumping forward far enough to get rid of Diamondshark... Always made me happy that they got rid of that mark of shame name and went back to their real name CLAN SEA FOX!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If you count it as a "shameful" name, you aren't a true CDS member, and have no right to decide what name is "shameful" or not. It's a badge of honor, and shows that CDS isn't opposed to new ideas and stances. That, and it's super embarrassing for Clan Snow Raven.
