Polar Highlands Clan Vs Is

ECM coverage makes trading ERPPC almost impossible, Clan can see their targets while IS are searching for pixles.
Due to the 240 drop tonnage, thier are more Hellbringer's than anything else, straight up breaks the mode.
Dont get me started on on the PPFLD of the Night Gyr,
Honestly, its not just this map that suffers from the massive ECM advantage, a huge number of smaller maps are basically dark, ECM is way to strong.
ECM needs to be changed or preferably removed from the Hellbringer (yes Lore takes a back seat to balance)

Base sensor range is 800m. So what does ECM have to do on a map where most engagements are 1000m+ ?, nothing.
Sounds like you are losing to basic map awareness, nothing else.
Bring the correct IS mechs with ERL/ERPPC
BLR1G
GHP5P
BJ3
There are half a dozen other mechs that are equally quirked out and actually out range/DPS/trade Clan mechs.
A 4 ERL HBR vs a 5ERL GHP
1. HBR takes longer to shoot as duration of cERL is higher
3. BOTH have basically the game range
4. GHP does more damage per trade
5. GHP does more precise dmg due to lower burn time
There is nothing wrong with Polar, it is just the mechs/builds you are bringing.
A Gauss shot does sweet FA @ 1300m.

I just stood there in my 5 erlarge battlemaster and kept shooting him, good trades for me as I took exactly zero damage, didnt even bother hiding. He must have shot me 10+ times.
Some people need to learn what weapons do what damage at range.

Or pay attention to patch notes when it specifies that the damage dropoff point for Gauss has been reduced.

There are lots of posts in the FW section with what mechs and builds to take, or you could go to meta mechs and find them there like most decent players do.
Really, im not that good, middle of the road but still better than you, how do I know, Ive seen you play.

Awesome 8Q/ Grasshopper 5p/ Grasshopper 5p/ Blackjack 3
Battlemaster / Grasshopper 5p / Thunderbolt 9s / Blackjack 3
Battlemaster / Grasshopper 5p/ Grasshopper 5p/ Cicada
Grasshopper 5p/ Grasshopper 5p/ Grasshopper 5p/ Shadowhawk 2k
Awesome 8Q / Grasshopper 5p / Thunderbolt 9s / Shadowhawk 2k
..et cetera..
Just look for high energy mounts / laser range quirks / ppc speed quirks and slap together enough tonnage to fill your cap.

Edit:
But as I have learned, it's not the size of your mech, its how you use it

The GHRs are very tall, stick to the trenches and behind the snow-dunes until the moment is right, there's plenty of cover if you stay in the trenches. There's a trench that basically does a giant ring around the center of the map. You can stay in it and flank the enemy (try to convince your team to come with you) To avoid LRMs on this map, all that is required is radar deprevation and breaking line of sight, if you continue moving to one side (left/right) of the inc missiles they will all miss you. The 5P with ERLL can poke very hard, the other two need a bit more backup, but are more brutal in close range brawls.

Indeed.
The amount of people trying to Gauss @ 1300m+ lately is amusing. They clearly haven't paid attention to the changes.

BLG1G - 6ERL
GHP 5P - 5ERL
WHM - 3ERL / 5LL
Job done.
There is nothing super dooper about it. Just look at the mechs, pick the ones with range quirks of +10%, preferrably ones with laser duration as well.
There are a dozen mechs that fit the ERL bill. And then another half dozen with ERPPC, IIRC a BLR variant gets to 940m base with quirks/modules.

i think you dont understand the range advantage you have.

Clan Omnimechs are more expensive to buy, but then less expensive to outfit (come with preinstalled gear, something that can be both good and bad). IS and Clan Battlemechs are cheaper to buy, but then you end up spending the same outfitting them. It is still pretty easy to build really dumb clan mechs. Quirks is the best developers came up with trying to balance gameplay between 2 sides that they really want to feel different playing, and to make mechs that have inherent weaknesses still be playable. This means IS players have to know one more dimension of "what works", but in order to be a good clan player you basically have to learn it anyways to understand what you're fighting.
...This is how this game works...
