Yuck, I always hated the design of the MW4 Templar. Here's a better picture:
Spoiler

I do like both the Templar and the Sunder. I want to see both!

I go for red, always red. So Sunder for me.
Though I have to admit, I like the Templars look, almost as good as the Zeus.

I always thought it was kind of weird that the Zeus (The Sexy, Sexy Zeus) didn't get an Omnimech version. The Orion does (Fair enough), and the Dire Wolf get's a copy (The Hauptmann, believe it or not), but the Lyran's don't give the Zeus a follow up until 3119, and it's a freak'n battlemech with fin stapled on.

Lame.

Well, yah. But what two mechs can't the Urbanmech take on, 1v2?

Ever heard of the mythical Mist Lynx, and devil itself the Urbranmech IIC?

Ah, the Urbanmech IIC - Now there's a worthy foe.

But the Mist Lynx? More like 'Mist Opportunity To Pilot A Real War Machine Like The Urbanmech.'

...Lynx.

The issue with the Templar is that it has quite limited critical slots while having a lot of free tonnage. It would be like the Warhawk or worse in the regard of trying to perfectly fit a build on it.

Yup... hence my earlier remark about her crit layout sucking....

Looking at the Templar... there doesn't seem to be many viable builds on it. Mostly energy hard points, that require Heat Sinks it can't afford to mount (Only 9 crits left if you pump 20 DHSs into it) and one ballistic arm that's pretty much limited to 10 rated autocannons and Gauss Rifles. The Templar seems cursed to run PPC/GR builds and not much else.
I guess with Jump Jets and an ECM, it could do that pretty well though.

Couldn't you run a LPL based build if you stuff the arms full of the heat sinks? I mean it's not perfect. But I could see it being a good GR + energy (Gauss vomit, Guass PPC ect) and also energy boat. Also don't forget we get the MRM'S that could result in some unique builds if the MRM is a decent by its self weapon ect.

Would the Samual be OP with 12B hardpoints, 6M hardpoints, and 5E hardpoints? Kind of sounds P2W..

No real competition ...

Lets face it, if a mech is inspiring enough for someone to build this:

It will be good enough for us!

(on a sidenote most davion designs are boring)

With out light Gauss, looks like the most that could fit in there would be Gauss+3PPC's on the Templar, provided her LA can hold a ballistic... other wise with out crit splitting Gauss is a no go.

Would be strictly worse than the BLR-2C at LPLs. Could do Gauss plus 2 ER PPCs but the arm gauss is pretty low, and that's pretty lackluster for an 85 tonner IMO.

You can fit 5 LPLs in there. With 18 Heat Sinks. Maybe 19 if you shave armor somewhere.

I suppose that's something...

EDIT: Also, it doesn't have many hard points or space enough for a lot of MRMs. The Sunder is singularly better for MRM spam, which makes sense, as it's Kurita.

Left Arm is purely energy.

I think I'm leaning towards the Sunder between these two. The arms are higher, it can bring an AC20, it has cockpit level energy hardpoints. The only thing it needs is a way to bring 2 UAC5s. It even has a variant with HoverJets.

Well then she needs LGR's then... She can do 2x UAC/5 (with 6t ammo) and dual PPC's with 14 DHS total.... that's using the ST balistic slots from the D varaint...

Also my bad, I was said LA, when I meant RA, and that can be a ballistic arm... I just didn't read the paper doll....

For the sake of complete clarity, the left arm of the TLR1-OH features missiles, those of the Hero Mechs of Sandoval and Grayson feature ballistics.
