Just SRMs? No, sir... Expect LRMs, Lasers, and AC's as well. Oh, and all on JumpJets.

But with the skill tree coming, guess I'll just buy one, and extra pods as needed.

Such is any game flooded with Meta idiots. if nothing else, the sheer prevalence of them'll make strategies to beat them extremely prevalent, which'll make the actually competent guys drive different builds, just like with the Stormcrow.

I was hoping Skills tree would have come out by now, I'll have to waste more bills on getting all three I guess. It's not a big prob as I wanted to try 3 different build styles out anyways.

The Linebacker's actually pretty solid. it's essentially the Clan Dragon, a Fast Heavy. treat it like that and it actually works pretty well. It's also a pretty tanky mech given its low profile compared to some other clan heavies.

Those would need Artemis... Hell, that many SRM4's fired at once would need Artemis. Too much tonnage for the launchers, not enough tonnage for the Ammo. Add the (Fixed) Engine, Armor, Heat Sinks, Active Probe, etc., and you're looking at not enough tonnage to work that design, I think?

Could you please point me to which variant has an ECM Omnipod?

8x ASRM4 works, with 500 rounds of ammo. The problem is that it runs hot and is susceptible to bad hit detection. 4x ASRM6 and 4x SPLas is a better setup that generates a higher alpha, zero ghost heat, and has more heat sinks. Lasers also play nice with hsr even on a bad day.

Outside of the ECM, it isn't incorrect to call it like a Clan Grif. A humanoid, jump capable medium with four tightly packed SRM launchers, and space for additional energy weapons. Can even slap an AP on it to disable their ECM and totally level that playing field.

The linebacker would have been better named the line breaker. Haha it's an excellent mech to get into brawl range and get out. It works wonders at breaking enemy firing lines. It's durable enough with its speed. It's an oversized adder, handles very well. Really enjoy both of these Mechs, pgi got them right I believe.
Also side note, these mechs each have a varriant that can run a guass rifle on it which seals the deal for me. Both these Mechs have plenty of versatility and will each add something different to your repertoire.

I'm wondering when people will come to realize that mixed builds are usually much more effective. Building 1-trick pony mechs and attempting to force a very specific situation to make that mech work isn't all its cracked up to be.
