Repair and re-arm costs? For it to work there would need to be an increase in cbill earning, but would the player base like this feature in the game?

Here are some pros and cons I thought of:
Pros:
Chance to earn more CBills.
Adds realistic aspect (realism) to the game.

Cons:
Chance for your mechs to always need to be repaired.
Chance for more of a grind.
An issue that may run into is damaged mechs in the game before match started.

Another thought about the system is it could allow for addition to game modes as for repair and re-arm stations in the game modes that cost you CBills earned during that match.

Whats the communities thoughts?

No

R&R is annoying to deal with

It hurts new players the most as well and this game already has enough obstacles to overcome as a new player

R&R also really hurt matches because players that were sick of running only 10k cbills profit every match started dropping half armored and underammoed just to get c bills

no it dont work, it was tried in the beta and it did not go over well.

other games that have had this feature have also dropped it.

and those that have not, have a lot more diverse and dynamic in game economy than mwo.

basically the game play is not there to make repair and rearm a viable feature to the game.

with that said i would like to see a repair and rearm on the field via a destructible drop ship with multiple capture points and what not but those are lofty dreams .

Yes, maybe, but in a completely redesigned CW only. And MW5.

Not in Quickplay. It's only an annoyance for a MOBA like MWO and doesn't actually improve the experience.

Then remove R&R for the first 25 matches or the first tier.

We need something to give so all the vets don't run around with the biggest XL engine they can stuff in their meta mechs. THAT penalizes new players way more than a balanced R&R.

Edit: The beta system didn't work because R&R wasn't balanced, not because R&R cost was inherently bad.

The consensus has been "no" for a long time. It's too late to do it now, it would only have three possible outcomes. Either it upsets too many players and lots of people quit, or it doesn't really affect anyone so it becomes pointless, or it makes it harder for new players and hurts the game in the long run.

It's too late. R&R made sense back when PGI spoke about MWO in very different terms, with fluctuating prices, varying supply and demand, etc. But they abandoned any kind of immersive approach in 2013 and then MWO became a pure arena shooter.

But we will have it in MW5, fortunately.

hey, do you hate when people drop afk? or pretend until halfway through a match to either join a stomp or hide? Do you enjoy people hiding in the very back and never pushing, only the occasional snipe? Or that one guy who can't win, but goes and hides in the corner of the map anyway and adds an extra 7 minutes of no one doing anything?

Because you get every single one of those things in every single match.

I don't get the meta hate

Sorry for not wanting to run builds that don't work very well or mechs that have potato quirks and geometry?

You know I'd run brawlers more if SRM spread hadn't been nerfed and missile heat increased as well

Absolutely not, it was tried before and resulted in poverty and build monotony.

There is absolutely nothing realistic about MWO so why even try. Groups of 24 players from disparate unrelated factions stand in artificially designed maps without regard to weight considerations or chassis availability and you want to worry about accounting tech?

Battletech or MechWarrior 5 is the game you are looking for.

Also if in the employ of the great houses or the communistic Clans you are not even footing the bill. This game is not trying to be merc simulator. I own over 300 mechs. My business would be a corporation, so if I roleplay a bean counter it is not the same guy who pilots the Commando.

How long are you going to play the lone merc with one family heirloom mech who does his own bookkeeping and weapon shopping? That level of economic simulation would have you quitting the game in a week. See how "realism" leads to unfun?

Last time this was in the game, people refused to push and were even more static and cowardly than they are now, because they didn't want to pay repair costs, while new players got shafted for doing badly in matches just trying to learn. So no thank you. That, and lol Paulconomy would never raise the C-Bill earnings to compensate.

Sadly, R&R just doesn't work in pvp multiplayer, for reasons already stated above. Sadly, because that's a quite simple and effective immersion improving tool.

200% NO.

R&R is really bad idea for multiplayer.

It's really punishing for new players. Also making gameplay really bad, like people will always play cowardly and making brawling very useless.

Imagine you're a new player, about 100 games in. You decide to commit and pool all your money to buying a LRM boat that happened to have Artemis. Now this but with R&R = fun ensues.

I know this feel too well, a majority of me as a Shiroi Rookie was running LRM Artemis boat as a cadet.

R&R was in the game and it was used to exploit. Also with the meager rewards in game it would make the grinding for non Premium Time user even worse.

I didn't like R&R when it was around, but I'm going to play devil's advocate here to add to the discussion: Why does World of Tanks keep R&R if it's so bad?

I remember back in closed beta, when R&R was a thing, that the major issue people had with it, was that the cbill earnings were so low that you would quickly find yourself dropping half-functioning mechs, or not being able to drop at all..

If the cbill earningS were high enough that ever a severe loss, it would guarantee that you could repair your mech, AND still have money leftover.. that would be great.. and I would support that..

If you wanna repair your mech, you can.. if not, you can invest the extra cbills into something else..

And if you only have one mech, you always MUST repair it.. or be forced to play with trial mechs..

I don't think the extra mechanic would be to hard on new players.. but I tell you this - it would shake up the meta.. cose' you would think twice about going leeroy jenkins and soloing the whole enemy team..

Back when R&R was a thing.. sniping and LRM's were the meta.. there was no "share the armor coward" being shouted over voip.. people took much more care of their mechs, and tactics were a thing..

I hope they bring that back..
