Shadow Cat with 2x LRM 15, 2x ERSLas, NARC, and ECM. Scout, NARC someone, fall back, and chuck lurms until the Wifi stops. Repeat until satisfied. It is an absolutely trolly mech.

There is also the Gatler, which is an Adder with 3x ERSLas and 2x UAC2. Plinks for days! Also, something insanely satisfying about seeing those little rifle arms spewing lead out of a mech so little.

What do you normally play?

Mist Lynx - Yeonne, no doubt will have some great builds... I quite liked more boring 4xerml

Silly loss of MG quirks made these less fun (and much effective) but; VPR-C quad MG's & 5x ersl, SHC-P uac10 & 6xMg, KFX-S? with Quad Mg's were all a blast... and quite surprisingly, if you have the loyal hellbringer arms, then try 5xmpl with quad mg's and ecm! Its fantastic fun, took trying for me to believe it. (Where is the MG section in the skill tree Posted Image)

How about uac2s? quad uac2's on huntmans or 6xuac2 on a Night Gyr make for much joy for me. (but pretty common).

Edit: Acknowledgement @Sixth Angel; Thanks for your post in Champ builds with this link: Hellbringer Prime not sure if I ran exactly as you posted but I agree its heaps of fun :)

Well, any mech can be a "fun" mech. I play the Champion Orion. However, the Locust 3V can be an absolute blast, alongside the Commando 3A and the Mist Lynx, of course.

I recommend going play locust for a while... if you do especially well against assault pilots... you might make even the forums ;)

and I have seen, engaged and been harassed by (though not personally dropped) a 2xsrm6 Com-3A build?

Blackjack 2 is my current favourite medium, try this BJ-2(L) out if you have one.
Swap the missiles to fit your play.

urbie, with a erppc and Mg's

mistlynx with a single er ppc

a flying spider

that commando build......

Im a locust pilot.. I do my own thing.. and dont rely on the team @ all...

I always come out with 150-220k cbills and a kill or 2...

Sometimes (*and you can tell) when i get out there and the hostile team is using comms... you can tell they are screaming
LOCUST LOCUST LOCUST TURN TURN... and youll see the whole team... make this slow turn twds me

Thats when its a fun time... IM like Ok... show time

There was a necro'd thread about this recently (I like lbx20, 2xsrm6a, 4xmpl or 6/8xspl)

edit: The 2 & 5 are my least favorite carebears (so no comments from me about the 2)... metamechs - maybe more helpful. (as there are a number of builds listed)

i love my ctf-im. i only run one build on it, the only build unique specifically to that hero and no other is mech to the best of my knowlege can run. 3 ac10s and a hundred rounds ammo. practical it is not, with its 1k damage ceiling and xl engine induced fragility. but it can face tank a dire/kodiak and win. just dont expect to do much after that. last time i played it i legged 3 lights and killed 2 of them and 2 other mechs before the ammo ran out.

I'd like to use the meta mech builds, but me and Gauss don't go well together.

You could try something a bit more "special".
Dragon, Victor, Trebuchet, Kintaro,...
Mixed loadout instead of boating.

EDIT:
You said you got tired of meta mechs and then you ask for Kodiak builds and want to use meta mech builds?
Sorry, but I don't know what you really want then.

lbx20?

You can put 2xlpl in each arm... but meh, I personally didn't enjoy that (and it wasn't ranged reduced then either)... i'm sure others have better builds :)

I tend to use the meta builds as a skeleton since i'm rather sheepish when it comes to personally building my mechs without a pre-build smurfy, unless it involves gauss and i do need to work on my Bears.

How is the Trebuchet? I've been thinking of getting one?

Some of the mechs I can call fun:
  • Dual Gauss + 6xER-SLAS Ebon Jaguar. Can do, like, 2xUAC/10 + 5xER-SLAS instead.
  • LRM Cyclops 10-Q usually is a lot of fun. Can do 4xLRM10+1xLRM20 + Artemis, or 6xLRM10 without Artemis. SRM 10-Q, on the other hand, I cannot recommend.
  • Black Widow is fun most of the time, and surprisingly durable. I run XL255 + 2xAC/5 + 2xUAC/5. Its bigger brother is Cyclops Sleipnir - exactly the same build but with XL360.
  • Dual AC/10 + 4xML WHM-6R.
  • Hexa-AC/2 King Crab, something like this (or just drop SRMs and boat moar ammo).

Dragons are pretty playable with the armor buffs and decent quirks, but they are pretty much the ultimate in "twist well or die poorly."
