Greetings all,

The Skill Tree PTS has been live for just a couple days now, and we're fortunate to have received a lot of great feedback. The reception to the overall framework of the new Skill Tree has been positive, but it's clear there are ways to improve the implementation.
The feature obviously represents a big change; we want and value your feedback to help ensure it is also a positive one.

We're in the planning process for an update to the PTS build in an effort to address some of the more common pieces of feedback we've received so far. We'll hold off on providing full details for what you'll see in the update until everything is solid, but we'll get a proper post up for you detailing all of the changes as soon as possible.

We'd also like to inform everyone that while the Skill Tree was initially slated for a release in our upcoming patch on February 21st, we are now targeting a release for the March 21st patch to ensure sufficient time for iteration and improvement on the PTS client.

In the meantime, keep testing, discussing, and providing your feedback. We strongly believe that with your help, the new Skill Tree will be a positive and significant addition to the game.

I will help organize feedback into folders to reduce overlap if somebody can give me permissions.

Great decision. The firestorm of posts should be a sign, we're here and we care.

Great to know that you are listening and preparing to address the players concerns in a timely manner. Delaying it a month is a good choice considering the depth of impact it will have on the game. There is a lot to like there and a few concerns. I am just glad the work to improve it is ongoing and there is no talk of scrapping it.

It doesn't seem like the design team plays MWO when they design new mechanisms for it.

Everything is ham-fisted and doesn't even come close to realizing the stated goals when a new idea is implemented.

See Energy Draw and the Map change as evidence.

Hey, good to hear.
Thank you guys for pushing it back a hair to have more time to iterate on it.

I'm 100% for the more testing... It's to big stuff for rushing it... But... I am a bit curious.. usually the monthly MWO paches are hard locked in the last 2-3 weeks... Can you even manage a solid new patch in the next 10 days?..

Good. I like it that you are listening. Now it is on us to offer up positive and constructive feedback. Thanks PGI for listening.

Is there a time frame on when the new PTS build will be up?

Didn't take long for the Skill Tree to shrivel up and swear this has never happened before, did it?

Still, can't complain. I'd rather they wait a month and redo the math than release it in full on 'It's cold outside' mode.

Please make respec without costs and don't force us to take skills nodes we don't want.

Alex can we please have consideration to the idea of moving the ability to enter the testing ground into the mech lab and skill tree so before saving and committing our cbills and xp we can at least take them into the game and try them.

I have a write up in the pts feedback thread on it.

Thank you

It's actually appalling to think that most of what we see on the PTS would have been live on patch day.

All I ask is for PGI to:

- avoid knee-jerk reactions
- use common sense.
- balance based on gameplay and gameplay only. Forget about raw numbers

Here's a long, detailed list of my recommendations on the Skill Tree System. Please read, share and feedback. Thanks.

https://drive.google...N3NUMEx2MmhUNE0

One other note: PGI should give us the option to pay a one-time fee of XXXX C-Bills (maybe 4 million?) and YYYY XP (20,000?) or even the equivalent MC's (maybe 100? 200?), after which we get to enjoy UNLIMITED FREE re-specs. That way, the grind is more feasible and we get all customization opportunities after hurdling the pay wall. This will also encourage people to buy premium time to grind out the C-Bills/XP for the goal of free re-specs.

Great news. Look forward to the new iterative changes. Been an interesting concept so far, just need different math values for the costs to start.
