Are you using McAfee for your anti-virus software? If so, have you installed their latest patch?

This game has been known to have crysis levels of making pcs crash and burn. Even newer and high end systems have trouble with it yet they can play the newest and better games with ease. You might need to check out the hardware sub forum. I have a few times. I've even been able to get the game to run on a laptop far below potato status.

The laptop I'm using now is an archaic compaq presario cq57 with:
win ten pro 64x
8gig system ram
and a pos amd E-300 apu 1.3 ghz

I can get the game to run as far as mech lab and training grounds. I've avoided the academy and and "live" matches. The few times I did I got motion sickness from just the cockpit's up and down animation as well as I was pin balling off every thing such as walls, team mates, objects and terrain. Forget fighting anything but that cockpit animation. Name the weapon and I used it to no effect and killed by the first enemy light or high alpha with 0 score across the board.

I just use it to mess in mech lab and tg to try weapon combinations.

But in all honesty its just poor opimization. My good ole poatoePC runs Crysis 1 and 2 on nearly max settings with no issues. Bad thing is if inverse kinematics patch goes live anywhere in the near future you can expect the game to become even more CPU-heavy.

I uninstalled Norton entirely awhile back after it kept eating up 99% CPU use, wasn't worth keeping around with how it'd constantly get in the way, lag, cause problems, any eat up bandwidth with updates.

i have a fairly high end rig that has all kinds of glitches with this game, yet runs other games flawlessly. i frequently get this thing where the polygons get garbled and i have to restart the whole damn rig to see again. if it happens i still have control of the game, i just cant see anything, some hud elements remain up though (i actually did once score a kill while this was happening). best bet for survival is to hide, shut down the mech, restart the computer (15 seconds) and start the client (about a minute and a half! from an ssd!) and rejoin the game. sometimes im alive and sometimes im dead. one time i came back in and my team was dead, but i still managed 4 kills in my completely undamaged dire when i came back. it mostly happens on forest colony, but also sometimes in frozen city, and on caustic valley at a certain time of day and once in grim plexus. i run on high and the inexplicable thing is when i lower the settings the game runs worse, crashes more, and i get more frequent instances of polygons. through various tweaks i can fix the issues to a large degree, but every time patch day rolls around i get more instability. im starting to think this engine is well beyond its maintenance life.

I remember having an issue some time ago with Shadowplay (or its AMD equivalent), where since I had it pointing to an external USB3 drive that wasn't turned on, it really screwed with my framerate until I turned it off and corrected the path it writes the videos to.

My old rig mirrors yours before the cat and a big 64oz cup of water took it out frying the mobo, video card and power supply. Since I'm very low income it's going to be a long time before I can get some thing to run mwo at 40fps. As for IK my old pc was build just to run mwo off the recommended specs when I first got into mwo and closed beta. It had no problems then with IK and I doubt it would have if/when they re-added it to the game.

Sadly mwo with its poor optimization will forever be a problem unless pgi uses mw5 as a back door into getting mwo slowly migrated to the newer engine. One that can be made to run the game far better using current and coming technology as it changes. I think only a retro build pc might run with minimal flaws in its current state would be how I'd have to build a *new* system for me in my case.

My old rig ran crysis 3 and skyrim on ultra just great. Between skyrim, mgs:the phantom pain,crysis3 and mwo I didn't do many games on my rig. Experimented with 2d animation and some 3d work after college with it. My old specs weren't great but for a mid level pc built at the time of 2012 it was pretty awesome for my uses.

Can't speak for everyone, but I run MWO on Win 10 system with zero issues.

i7-6700K
GTX 1070
16GB Ram

3440x1440p resolution

Usually get 80-110 FPS on most maps/situations

For years I have ignored updating my CPU's in favour of upgrading other parts my system... till I noticed my frames were dropping below 10 on the then, new mordor map (was only averaging high twenties at the time) ...it was either time to quit or finally upgrade... went from sandy bridge (i5) to skylake (i5 6600)... night and day difference.

For this game, definitely.

The CPU upgrade I made was the single biggest factor in performance.

I was getting 100+ frames after that, even with a low end graphics card (GTX 950).

The only reason I upgraded to the 1070 was because the resolution on my monitor put too much strain on the 950.
