It is a regular battlemech. So it will automatically be better than gargoyle or executioner. It will not be amazing, but it won't be bad.

That's highly debatable... with the exception of the Boiler anyway.

70 kph plus MASC makes the Executioner a wildly better laser vomit platform. And the Gargoyle can do brawling very well.. the speed is the savior in that case.

What if I told you the MLX's natural predator is... everything else?

As a fun fact, the MLX was so bad that even in TT there were three separate mechs deliberately designed by lore (mentioned very clearly as upgrades) to replace it. Yup. Not just one. Not two. THREE.

Hellion, Fire Falcon, and of course everybody's favorite Arctic Cheetah.

EDIT: The ******* DCMS were afraid of this thing enough to call it "Koshi"? REALLY?

I'm pretty sure the infantry were the ones who named it. I mean, look at the Mist Lynx A. That thing could decimate infantry forces.

Nope. Not even close to good enough to make me consider using it over the MAD-IIC.

So no UAC jam bonuses on the Boiler? DWF and WHK get dual UAC-20 UAC bonuses. I don't get it.

blame the whining certain people did over the KDKs getting quirks. (KDK3 was and is, indeed OP, but as one can tell, the quirks had NOTHING to do with that.... since the thing is still the top Tier mech in the game..."nerfed" and all.)

I wonder if they will at least give this good torso twist range... would be nice if it was larger than 70...

Calling it. 65 degrees torso twist range in order to keep the OP pulse lasers with that -5% duration from killing lights. #butforumssaidbufflights

Only ER lasers get the duration buff, -5% general laser duration would have been OMGWTFBBQ OP.

This post shatters my faith in the MWO community.

Just kidding, it was shattered a long time ago, but man, never heard someone defend an 8 ER ML assault as viable before.

To be fair, 6 on a Loki is perfectly acceptable in Potato Land

It also has a Jesus Box and moves 90 Kph, and can LOLpha all day long, but offensively is perfectly adequate for mid range
The SubparNova does not have any of those qualities, however.

I won't deny that... but for a 62 kph assault, a 56 damage laser alpha that incurs ghost heat just isn't that inspiring. Even going full vomit with 2 cLPLs and 6 cER MLs is offensively an Ebon Jag with a few extra DHS and a TC. Oh and a 0.0575 second duration advantage on the ER MLs of course.

Here are some builds.
2 gauss, 2 erppc, 18 dhs, xl300+.
2 lgpls, 6 mlas, xl325, 28+dhs.
6-8 erll, 26+ dhs, xl300+.
4 erppc (side torso mounts), 4 smpls, xl325, 26+ dhs.
2 lbx20, 1 erppc, 3 srm6+A, xl300+.
2 lbx20, 3 smpls, 3 srm6+A, xl325.
2 lbx20, 2 erppc, 20ish dhs, xl300.

Alot of interesting, extremely high damage output builds. Basically a slightly faster direwolf or slightly slower but much higher damage output and tankier warhawk.

I don't think you can fit 18 DHS (16 is what I have theory crafted) on the dual ER PPC dual Gauss build on the hero.. maybe if you don't take JJs, but then you are just in every way inferior to the KDK-3. At least with a couple Hover Jets it has SOMETHING that the KDK doesn't have.

2 LPL 6 ER ML? I can do that on an Ebon and run 87 at the cost of a few DHS or a MAD-IIC with equivalent DHS and run 76.8 instead of 62.

ER LL boating? Sure whatever, not really relevant.

Quad ER PPC, MAD-IIC has speed on it.

The brawling builds on the Boiler? Sure I guess that's somewhat interesting but... nothing really to write home about. Some of these builds don't sound realistic or have too many DHS than you can't realistically fit.

I think this is actually going to be one of the very few (only?) clan mechs that will run better with a STD engine.

Fake Supernova

Swap the 2 ERPPCs in the RA on the above mockup with 2 of the DHS in the RT, and use the 1 extra ton on a head mounted TC1 with the one extra slot it has from not having a hand on the left arm. Max engine, 26DHS, and this way when it loses a ST it wont lose speed or the ability to cool down.

I'll still probably run an XL, drop the Ferro and add a hover jet or 2.

I dunno, the penalty for losing a ST means that it will drop to like 40kph and not be able to cool 2 PPCs in any way once its lost a ST, it does depend on hitboxes obviously as if its got a big CT then its pointless, but i think the ability to function perfectly fine, even effectively, after losing a ST is better than bad hovering skills. If you really wanted you could drop arm and leg armour and 1DHS and get 2JJs even with the STD - Fake Jumpy Supernova

Honestly, I wish we as a community could just pull our collective selves together on this and petition PGI for a real change that isn't subject to whimsy.

This mech's primary issue (and one several other mechs have) - is the Max Engine Cap.

So if that's the issue, why band aid it repeatedly with quirks?
Why give it more firepower when it has oodles?
Why give it a bunch of free movement/agility bonuses through quirks?

Why not just solve the damned problem by changing the engine cap size? Then the mech can go faster, twist faster - be more agile - but more importantly actually has to pay for that upgrade with tonnage.
