Pretty Baby is pretty bad though. It'll get a hardpoint inflation in 2017 after only 4 years. Yay.

It will?

I can't believe I forgot about the Anansi.
Yes. That mix of hard points on a 30 ton mech...thats gotta be a contender. I can't remember the last time I thought: "hey, I should take my Anansi out for a spin".

The weirdest thing, though: It has the same hardpoints as the RVN-4X which has been a comp mech...all about the mounts.

OP said hero mechs, not every mech guys...

Kinda inclined to agree with Probably Not, the Roc is pretty lackluster, as the other variants do mostly everything better. It can pull off the faux gold mech pretty good tho.

it's pretty enough I keep trying to make it work..... and it keeps letting me down. Guess it's like a super hot Nun... all show, no go.

That's cuz you can fit an AC20 on the 4x. You comp guys are all about the boom chicken. Posted Image

I still see them semi regularly though. Sadly enough.

Also, pretty sure the ol DarkDeath is going to rank pretty high. I have high hopes for my Assassin... but that one... eh. Well, always enjoy a good challenge.

But not sure anything can top the Fang and Flame Dragon Twins for that category. Bad versions of pretty much the worst Robot in game?

That is a really terrible hero name. It's like a 5 year old came up with it or something.

EDIT: I will be very disappointed in PGI if the Assassin's cockpit isn't very claustrophobic.

PGI's new tagline: "PGI... we KNOW disappointment"

<shrug> Presumably.

EDIT: Russ has said the old pre-Phoenix Pack mechs will get hardpoint inflation in 2017. Anything can happen, but Pretty Baby is obviously a prime candidate.

The Death's Smell is actually reasonably competent due to speed, stature and decent armament options for a light. No SRMs is a substantial knock against it, but 4 MLs or 4 SPLAS does fairly well.

I run my TDK with 4xMPL, makes backstabbing and killing other lights much easier. It's actually pretty good for a light because it's very fast and can mount ok weaponry, it has its problems but nothing insurmountable like some other heroes. Same goes for Huginn, it's pretty good if you know what you're doing.

As said many times already, SIB and anansi are worst possible heroes. They're both worst possible versions of their chassis and they have all possible stuff that makes mech sucky.

4 MPLs seems like it'd be very hot and a wee bit weighty for the little Commando hero. What sacrifices do you have to make to get 4 MPLs on the TDK?

Blood for the blood god.

Darts for the Dartboard.

Seriously though, it would look like this:
DEATH'S KNELL

Instead of the XL240: XL210, 2 extra DHS, full armor, 1.33 heat efficiency.

Head armor and a tiny bit of speed.

I agree about the St. Ives Blues. There is not enough magic armor potion in the world to make it good. But not TDK is fine, with max engine, 3 x MPL and 1 x SPL (the little laser that could) for a 20% boost in alpha over the 1B.

I have shaved 10 armour from both legs and 15 from head. Commandoes have +12 leg armour quirk so I pretty much never get legged in commando before I lose my arms so that shaving lets me take XL235 so I can run at 163,7kph.

Note that medium lasers have same heat as medium pulses, difference is that you can trade your heat capacity to damage much faster and disappear before you die due to your small size and awesome speed.

Surprised no one mentioned the Yen lo wang. So ok it can zombie. Just takes a little longer to die and has it's "big" Gun exposed on an easily shot off arm. I would ponder the fact that is is the worst Hero because it was the first hero (If I am not mistaken). I actually bought the silly thing thinking "yeah hero mech, I am gonna rock with this baby!" But it has a very narrow window of usefulness and isn't even that good at what it does. Many other mediums can do it better. Just for example a griffin 2n can carry 4 ASRM 6's, jumps, and has ecm. Just saying

Zombie Cent is crap. Proper build is 300XL with AC20+4Tons ammo, and 2*MPL. Now THAT is a fast, fun, and mobile mech, and as a fast striker it is superb. Played properly you'll empty the AC20 before the end of the match.

So yeah, worst hero? Hell no. It's way ahead of the stinker that is the PB or ROC. Let's not forget the Vindi hero St. Ives Blue.

Buddy of mine used his Grid Iron a few rounds last night. Put a Guass and three medium lasers on it, actually worked very well for him.

Dual UAC5 GI is workable also.

The Phoenix Hawk Kuroi Kiri.

You've got to be kidding me. Zip for quirks, only two MG hardpoints, and double pistols in the arms. Anything it can do, the PHX-1 can do better.

I mean, it's not a meta monster but...

Agreed on everything else though.

I'm pretty sure he meant Pretty Baby. Only reason I can fathom you made a post like this is because you incorrectly thought he meant Pirate's Bane.

I'd say either the Vindicator hero, if there is one, because Vindicators are horrible and totally irrelevant, or Pretty Baby.

The mech is a monument to fail:
 • Laughable name that inspires snickers, not fear
 • It's an Awesome, which means you have to be a masochist to pilot it and enjoy having your entire team be able to stand should to shoulder and STILL fit behind one of your torsos
 • The hardpoints were placed with a dartboard to ensure no ability to properly boat weapons or focus damage. Oh, and just for good measure, not only are the hardpoints horribly placed, it's missing 1 compared to every other Awesome. Just because being as terrible as an average Awesome isn't enough!
 • And what do you get for all this suffering? Why, the ability to run a huge engine, which is useless. Once an assault mech is able to move "fast enough" to generally keep up with the heavies, no extra tonnage should be wasted on a bigger engine. The Pretty Baby's literal only unique aspect as a hero mech is the ability to run an engine that is too big.
 • But wait - maybe you can run a big XL engine! Oh, wait - it's an Awesome, so the side torsos will fall off the moment you look at it. Yes, yes - this isn't quite as true these days as it was, and IS XL's are death traps for most anything bigger than a medium mech these days, but still... the Awesome is not well suited for this role.
In all, a horrible mech and a prime example of Pay To Lose.

Runner up is La Malinche, a Banshee that is vastly under-gunned for no apparent reason whatsoever. Rumor has it this mech was supposed to have Jump Jets. I say give it Jump Jets - it'll still be terrible, but at least it will be unique in a positive way.
