version I've been testing for trials lately is:
4x ERLLs (RA/RA/LA/LA)
6x SSRM6 (RA/LA/RT/RT/LT/LT)
1x I-HvyLL (LT)
1x ERSL (H)
3 tons SSRM ammo (RT/RT/LT)
24 DHS

40 damage all day long out to 25 hexes.... but close and get a 88-93 pt clobber. And 3 tons or reloads are plenty since of course, Streaks don't miss. (2216 BV)

needless to say.... I got a small book on DWF builds.

I need to spend more time on making interesting Gargoyle builds.

Now that sounds like a better idea, drop MPLs and LRMs and throw on some SSRMs. If you want to be super cheesy could even throw some iATMs on there for extra ridiculousness.

yeah, I like SSRms a ton in TT.

But still, if I wanna Clan out, you'll probably find me in this
SMN-PRIME
Moar fun, lez Cheez. Though my Dueling version drops the PPC and UAC10, and slaps on an Improved Heavy LL and UAC20....cuz...well, bigger boom.

HAGs are nice but crit hogs, if I recall, which is hard to mix with the Heatsink needy lasers. Gauss is nice, but puts it back to a standoff weapon. This allows an 80 dmg dump with barely a glance at the heat gauge, and is meant for infighting and dueling.

Not as hard hitting as my traditional dueler, but probably better for a Grand Melee due to superior heat endurance.
This was my old clan invasion era dueling build, before Heavy Lasers, HAGs, etc were ever a thing
DWF-PRIME

Potentially toasty, but if it laid a full alpha into you, well, you probably were in a world of hurt. (2132 BV)

heh, I always did enjoy my pre-heavy laser dueling monster...

EBJ-PRIME

2t of solid shot for that LB-20

Baby Samsonov, eh? Nice. Wish I liked EBJs, but about the only post Invasion Omnis that ever got me excitable were Novacats, and oddly, the Crossbow.

Well that Ebon was fast enough to be dangerous, well armed enough to be a serious threat, and cool enough to not worry about running and firing both PPC's at something... once I got in close, I stopped using a PPC, and went LB-20+PPC.. tended to put other mechs down hard and fast....

But I know the feeling, most Clan mechs post invasion just don't do it for me, the Ebon Jaguar was special though, first time I ran one was in a city fight and I was using the Alpha variant, I came around behind a Dire Wolf, and engine killed it on the first turn of shooting... double crit to the gyro from behind from a double tap on the UAC/20.... left me with a soft spot for it ever since.

if that were true, it wouldn't have lower arm actuators.....

as for cheeze, IDK, always felt dirtier running my 4 Gauss74 ERML, 300XL, 17.5 tons of armor Clan Annihilator. (12 DHS, 8 tons ammo).

The Hellstar is actually the same basic mech I used in MW3, my "greased lightning" ANH build. Just 5 tons lighter, and a bit more efficient engine weight.

I won't say that's not horrific, because I would be lying and also dead Posted Image The gauss though at least carry the risk of exploding. The big advantage of the Hellstar is it doesn't run any risks for its ERPPC hadoken apocalypse outside only having four weapons (and being vulnerable to infantry, what with no hands or whatnot). Weirdly, I've never felt the same about the Awesome or other PPC boats - maybe it's the extra damage of the Clan variants + the perfect heat dispersal of the chassis that does it for me.

Don't get me wrong, and comedy aside, if I saw a Hellstar I wouldn't cast it from my sight in a spray of holy water and invectives before declaring its controller apostate - just given the choice I'd rather run (and run against) just about any other Assault 'Mech Posted Image Stock anyway. No quad gauss ANH's, nooo...wait, the C2 variant...aieeee

I've honestly been enjoying my triple PPC MAD-IIC(S) (not the point and click adventure scorch) with 2 MPL and 4 SPL. The closer you get the nastier I get, and triple PPC is very annoying on maps like grim plexus and frozen city.

As an added benefit it makes all my hotter builds feel like fridges after playing.

Spoiler

I'm partial to the PPC on the shoulder, too.

Oh I'm a fan of the PPC shoulder, too. It feels wrong replacing a cannon with a teeny, tiny laser. Same on my SHD-2K and MAD-5D. Oddly, my Hunchies get a pass because... reasons!

I'm all for fixing the Victor, but could we fix the Dragon first? She's been broken a lot longer... I mean her arm doesn't even go up into it's proper firing position any more....

All three of mine are built around a ppc in each arm...only way to play em.

My boffo....pirate's bane as odd as that sounds. I can wreak so much havoc in it. Huggin a close second.

Agreed.

It drives me up a wall when my AC's are hitting the ground when it's supposed to be hitting face.

I think it had to do with PGI couldn't get the right arm to only pivot up and down while left arm had full range movement at the same time? Don't know for sure.

It had to do with Founders complaining about how the mech actually had a LAA despite being depicted without it, so they redid the concept art and modeled the redo.

Really.

In any case they should lose the arm and go with the OG look, will look better in my opinion and probably make it play better too.

It would absolutely play better. PPC+Gauss would be phenomenal on that.

Another vote for the Rifleman. Always been a favorite, and it does good damage when played well in MWO.
