Hey everyone,

First, let me confirm that the lights on the UrbanMech hero will function! Though we are currently deciding on exactly how they will trigger.

Pretty please just toggle them on/off with the weapon bay door button used for bay doors, claws, etc. Pretty please!

Personally I'm hoping the Urbie lights come on when you activate the onboard, super secret MASC it should have. You know...persuit mode.
If this Urbiehero actually came with MASC, I'd soil my drawers.
I'd TOTALLY run a STD60 and MASC, every single day.

Grinner's Info is incorrect. Weapons loadout is correct. The pilot info, however, is not.

It should be Phelan Kell, not Ward.

Affiliation should be either the Kell Hounds or Lyran Alliance (Commonwealth). Not Clan Wolf!

In fact, I would change the name of the `Mech, and go with Daniel Allard. Who piloted a Wolfhound as well, and reserve Grinner for the Wolfhound IIC.

you are aware the Wolfhound IIc doesn't exist, right? Grinner was the only Clan technician-modified Wolfhound. ever.

and it was Grinner long before it got clan tech. was named after Phelan's dog, a big mutt he used to own that had some wolf blood in him. big friendly goof of a dog with a grin that could easily become a lick or a snarl, and protective as hell of Phelan. a Liao Assassin mistook Phelan for Daniel Allard's kid and tried to off him. Grinner tore his throat out, getting slashed all to hell in the process by the assassin's blade. In respect for his loyal pal, Phelan named his mech for him. even put metal stylized jaws on the head, so they'd even show up when a hostile was using MagRes scanning instead of normal vision modes.

Regarding the "is it worth it to pre-order" question, the answer is ... maybe.

Straight up $XX for , preorder is a slight discount. If you only buy MC on sale, the $XX cost now vs. cost later is about break even.

If you also only buy hero 'mechs when they are on sale, then you're going to save a little cash (maybe 15-20% of base cost) by purchasing them then.

Of course, everyone else will be running around in their flashy new toys, shining their red and blue lights on your 'mech's rear torso, ECM'ing in their Enforcers and Wolfhounds, snapping their itty-bitty claws at you as they dakka or clamping their massive claws at you while chain firing six PPCs, and you'll be all sad and lonely in your boring old 'mechs waiting for the sale ... which will be coming soonTM.

Was really hoping the King Crab hero would be the KGC-010, perhaps justified as some of the few that were hidden before most of 010s left with Kerensky during the fall of the Star League. With the unique "skin" featuring non-collision cooling sleeves on the back and a bit of an easy heat wave effect. Recolored PPC sprites would be nice, too. :P

Kag which ones did you order already ?

Grasshopper and Mauler are the only ones that look interesting to me, personally.

Ace ... only the UM-K9 is purchased so far.

I'm still deciding on six of them ... WLF-GR, ENF-GH, BL-P-KNT, ZEU-SK, MAL-KO, KGC-KJ.

Unless something significant changes, I'm not seriously considering the PNT-KK, CRB-FL, or GHR-MJ.

LBX20 spreads damage and is much hotter.

C-LB20-X AC has the same damage/cooldown/heat stats as IS AC20, despite being 2 tonns lighter. It also has much higher projectile velocity (1100 vs 650). High velocity means better accuracy and damage registration. At 300 meters it has damage spread better than ARSM6.
Check out the trial Orion IIC (4xSRM6+A LBX20) - it's a much stronger brawler than the Zeus despite being 5 tons lighter.

I'm happy to see the Hawkins' Mauler can use the toy's colors properly :) Now Ryder's Bushwacker really has a 1st Somerset Strikers buddy, alongside Adam Steiner's Awesome.

Now how about that 1st Somerset Strikers decal?

Is it at all possible to clear up two additional slots in the Zeus' ballistic arm so we can have a viable AC20 brawler?

Bravo for listening to feedback and making changes, but, still no more ballistic hard points for the King Crab? Not being able to mount dual AC 20's is a deal breaker for me.

I dunno, ac40 PLUS 6 energy hardpoints PLUS 2 missile? That might be a little crazy...

I think I'd be happy with a 2 lb10x + 6mpl + 2srm6 (w/A?) build as long as the ballistic mounts are high like the energy mounts on other kgc... seeing as that would be my range weapon...

For you its crazy, for Mauler 2P its a regular Monday morning. Also the Kingcrab 0000 already has AC40 plus 4 Energy plus 4 Missile whats quite close.

Yes, the name itself is canon, the rest is not. Phelan's IS Wolfhound did not have an ECM or ERLL for it was a regular introtech Mech. There is not even a canon rumour about Phelan having a modified (IS) Wolfhound.
He went from the introtech Wolfhound (without ECM etc.) to the Wolfhound IIC. The configuration of MWO's WLF-GR is thus uncanonical.

As I said before it is not a big deal since PGI frequently releases hero Mechs with uncanonical configurations. I will buy it nonetheless; I just don't pretend it's canon.

This may come as a surprise, because I'm brand new, but I know these things. I've got basically all the clan mechs, and my Orion IIC's are my favourite heavies. The ON1-IIC-A with LB20+4SRM6 is a solid beast, but different. It lacks MASC, first and foremost, and MASC is an incredibly potent tool for an ambush brawler allowing vastly enhanced mobility. Also, it's an Orion - as much as I love them, they tend towards mediocre hitboxes (not that the Zeus is a monster of exceptional hitboxes itself).

However, we're discussing the SB vs. the Zeus, not the ON1 IIC A.

I haven't built a Zeus yet, as I'm not interested in doing it by hand, but MASC on the Zeus puts it in an entirely different situation. It's losing 10 damage, but gaining the ability to close the distance faster, twist MUCH faster, etc. Just different.

I just wish it had actual ears and the head/snout of a wolfhound. The MWO version is just bugly and looks nothing like the original Wolfhound. This one looks like a doorstop mounted on a Panther look alike chassis.

As much as I'd like to see that, (much less Adam Steiner's Axeman) I'd rather see some real progress in this game... which is not going to happen any time soon...

I dunno if this has been mentioned, at work on lunch and I don't have much time to poast.

In regards to the Urbie's police lights. Why not make the cockpit light key the key to trigger the lights instead? Also, it needs a siren warhorn, either a police siren or an ambulance's " Weeeeyouuuweeeyouu!"

1) Working lights on trashcan UM60? Cool. It going to be easy to aim.
2)AC20 BL-KNT? Great. Other way - skip that ballistic hardpoint...
3)My favorite - ZEU- still is not interesting - single MASK won't make it more comfortable to play then existed ones (same story like with CTF) so... I want it but there is no reason to have it as it is.. sad thing...
4)Still got a question about KSG with 4(!!!) PPC - as it is it will not be able to fire even two of those same time more then once per 10-15 sec and will not be able to do more then 6-8(didn't calculated, but feel it's close to be true) shoots in chain-fire mode without overheating. What's the reason to carry 4 of those on this mech? Even 3xPPC AWS is too hard to play for most players those days, but that's KSG going to be even more hard to use...why?..

IMHO.
