I don't think LRMs are great and prefer "normal" weapons myself, however, LRMs being totally useless is also exaggerated. The moment you understand that LRMs should be fired at mid range, they become useful.

Using them as a suppression weapon to easy pressure on your team is also neat, simply because everyone who sees the missile message will take cover.

At medium-close range LRM become capable of actually hitting targets, which is nice. But in general I'd be much better off with pretty much any other weapon system. It's a niche weapon, and its niche is incredibly unreliable. (Assuming you're fighting people who know the hell what they're doing, of course.)

Lurms, lurms, lurms *airguitar*
Archers spray and Mad Dogs play
LURMS, LURMS, LURMS!
Narc and TAG ruin brawlers' day!
*gets lost in airguitar*

...really though, are LRMs that big of a problem? Great for area denial, yes, but damage is generally limited to when someone breaks cover in full view of everyone. I fear PPFLD type snipers a lot more than I fear the lurm, heck the lurm even gives me a few seconds warning to get back into cover.

Yeah LRMs are only dangerous when they're on your team.

Those are some impressive stats. What Mechs/loadouts are you mostly playing to get an 8.1 k/d? Are you playing as part of a team or mostly solo?

(I'm still leveling crappy Mechs before they become worthless under skilltreeageddon, in the PUG queue.)

It's so high, largely because of some good Mad2C-D runs. Dual Gauss ERLL makes for high damage, low risk

But also a lot of Viper (same as the video). He's more risky and less damaging, but generally fares well.
Lizzee is pretty darn impressive, doing that (also at Tier 1) for Assaults. With thrice the matches, that's pretty consistent.

This season was mostly solo (so far)
Maybe 20 group?

Thanks. I'm looking forward to the MAD-IICs coming out for CBills nexy month, they seem a very strong Mech.

I too am a fan of the Viper. I levelled a Medusa the month before last and it was a killer. I hope the upcoming mobility nerfs don't kill it Posted Image

The D is nice, Scorch being solid too

Viper seemed alright after the decel fix, roughly the same 25M stop distance.
Subject to change, of course

This last few weeks in solo play LRM boats rule the battlefield even taking good cover and AMS lrm's are overpowering. I have to ask has PGI nerfed AMS?

Personally I think the missile arc is just way to high even in good cover the missiles Clan or IS are just flying up and over buildings and cover that they should not hit you.

So maybe we need a poll and try to get PGI to lower the missile arc some or maybe fix the AMS to work properly?

Sadly, I think he is. But my measurement for craziness is a bit off recently due to RL events, so... *Shrug*

After 2016 and 2017 so far, nothing would really surprise me.

I disagree and maybe you should play more and get off the forums more?

You cannot "disagree" with a fact.
LRMs have NOT been buffed.
AMS has NOT been nerfed.

Insulting people without reason will not help you against reality. Neither does using so bad a punctuation in your initial post that one has to read your sentences 3 times to understand what you are trying to say, btw.

Sadly, the cave is so far out of the way that it's pointless now. I used to love the rare opportunity to backstab the enemy through a 1-2 man push through there. Now I never see it, and instead wait 10 minutes for the PPC fire to stop flinging across the ravine so I can finally fight.

Well seismic sensor also killed many cave rushes as well.

So I'm XP building all the mechs I care about or am close to the magic 15500 XP over mastery level in anticipation of the skills tree changes.

One of the last of the latter mechs is my Cat-C1. 2ALRM15s and 4ML. Had three really great matches, good close range brawls and 1 polar domination which was just pure LRM fest. It was great. Then two in a row where the enemy was running a lot of ECM and knew how to deal with LRMs. At that point I remembered why I don't play LRMs. So many counters to such a situational weapon. I did far more damage with my 4ML than I did with the LRMS.

Consider the LBX. Now imagine if there were multiple mechanisms in the game that made you nearly invisible (ECM) to the already bad LBX or cut the damage of the LBX in half (AMS)? Who would ever take an LBX if that were the case? But that is the reality of LRMing. A very situational weapon, that is mediocre even under ideal circumstances but is normally of very limited use, and which suffers from numerous hard counters.

If they were going to change anything about LRMs Id like it if they made them into straight line weapons when you have no lock. Then at least you could blind fire at shorter range and have a hope of leading and hitting a target. But nerf them? No. They don't need a nerf.

Hehe. True.

Okay, okay, wait:
If it is fact today that Alt-Facts people can disagree with facts, then I choose to ignore that fact and say they can't, nevertheless. BAM! Posted Image

This is getting really complicated, isn't it? Posted Image Posted Image Posted Image
