Fair enough, if PGI feels that way, PGI feels that way. But it's clear, initially, they felt it was an exploit of the system... they have backpeddled because you guys bitched enough.
Again, good job... as I said, congrats.
Do you have a citation with that info?
Since day 1 modules have been expected to be swapped from mech to mech, it's one of the tool tips that have been there since tools tips were a thing.
At no point was it ever expected that you should but modules for every mech, but if you didn't want to swap in the mechlab then you will need to buy more.
Same thing with Engines. If I want to swap XL300 engine between my mechs it is certainly not an exploit.

Maybe (just maybe), if PGI would present new systems that don't appear to be made by an intern in 5 minutes while taking a dump, the reaction would be different?
Maybe, just maybe, if we'd let them release a damned system, and see how it goes in a live enviornment before we throw as much BS at it as we can... maybe then PGI could actually get something done.
MAYBE, if players just ******* delt with what is essentially the GM telling them "no." we'd have a better game.
But whatever, I'm done fighting with you guys over this, you'll ***** and whine and that's fine... PGI is our GM for Mechwarrior Online... they're just very clearly a ****** one that refuses to stick to their guns.
It's over, and unlikely the Skill tree will see the light of day. You won... so why even worry about it anymore? Hmm, why continue to press the issue. It's clear you don't agree with my stance, so what, you're just going to stand around and gloat about it? HAHA, the feature you really wanted got axed.
**** you too.

I was looking forward to this system so much, and don't give a flying crap about my "progression" since the game would have been over-all better. Better for new players (Important!), better for free players, better for people who like to customize their ride. I don't play for the sake of maximizing my fictional battle bots and then shelve them when they are "done," I play to use them.

How so? And don't even think the rule of 3 counts, because the rule of 3 wasn't ever important or tied to the current version, they could've easily changed those rules right now and things would be just fine (honestly they SHOULD do that now).

For telling other people they "won" because of throwing tantrums, your own tantrum is pretty strong.
Fyi, I am not against the new Skilltree in its latest PTS version. I could not care less if it gets implemented or not. I am only against the ridiculous IS mech nerfs going along with it, but that is a different topic.

We've already been over this. PGI has a terrible track record of fixing things in a timely and correct fashion once they go live. That lack of trust is part of the problem here and one of the reasons why people were outraged. On top of that, the skill maze and related mech nerfs were so fundamentally flawed that tossing them into production was just a poor idea anyway. We're not talking about "needing tweaks" - we're talking about "start over."
Other games release big changes live all the time. They don't always go well, and most of those games are run by people with a better track record of quickly and correctly balancing what's in production than PGI. So, yeah - if this were a different game, and a different game company, AND the skill maze and nerfs as shown were not total trash, you'd have a point... but that's a lot of "ifs."

Interesting analogy. I've played plenty of tabletop RPG's over the years. You know what happens to crud DM's who can't do their jobs? They end up with no group of players. Nobody is obligated to keep playing and "put up with" whatever PGI dumps on us. And that fact - the sudden loss in income via demands for refunds - almost surely has to be what prompted PGI's sudden heel-face-turn on the skill maze factor.

And that is PGI's fault, not ours. Seriously, if you were trying to sell a new product and the customers told you - even if rather bluntly - that it had serious flaws and you needed to go back and work on it a lot more, how is it THEIR fault if you instead decide to scrap it? It's not.
PGI has an extremely loyal fanbase here many of whom have poured waaaay more money into this game than most people would ever spend on a single video game. There's nothing wrong with that, but it points to a clear, deep love of the franchise. To be able to anger such people into closing their wallets so regularly is the fault of PGI, not the people who are spending the big bucks to keep supporting this game.

MAYBE, just maybe, PGI should come up with something worth releasing first. Whoa, what a concept. It's not our fault they continue to try to push garbage on us.

Here's one:
Seriously.
It's not that we didn't want a new skill tree, we didn't want the disaster that was on the PTS to go forward.
We didn't want to test the skill tree AND the engine decoupling at the same time - because variables need to be isolated.
A skill tree similar to what Solahma proposed would have instantly had more support across the community because it's starting from a much better place than the confused, build-tax laden skill labyrinths on the PTS.

I agree with everything in your post save the (don't give a flying crap about my progression).
Rest assured the skill tree is still on its way, it needed more time to flesh out the issues.
It hasn't been canned like some of the previous balance concepts.
Good things come to those who wait. We will wait for PGI to make the entire skill update is a good thing for everyone.
They could have made some minor tweaks and it would have been acceptable. It was their choice to delay it further.

Once. When they asked to be able to re-sell the Project Phoenix mechs.
But the "MUH EXCLUSIVE~!" crowd eventually won, and there was also the fact that PGI tried to nerf the Timber Wolf and Storm Crow at the same time which caused a hell of a lot of people to vote no purely out of spite over that attempted nerf.

Sorry but, cherry pickers delight is not a good skill tree.
