It will be worth the extra wait time.

That's why you get a vote multiplier. And if you are in a group that keeps picking that map despite you not wanting it, find a new group. Also, realistically you would drop where you were needed, not where you wanted.

Agreed, remove map/mode voting all together, that way everything get's played.
I'd much rather everything get played, than some things get pushed aside for being considered sub-optimal. I HATE all of the snow maps, ALL OF THEM. but if I'm forced to play on them I'm not going to complain... I AM going to complain however, when players voted those maps in because it helps to eleminate heat as a balancing mechanic.

I also think it will limit some of the meta, if you dont know what is coming it is harder to specialize to a map or mode.

So much this.
I hate brawlers complaining about Polar Highlands more than those brawlers hate that map.
If your build only works on certain maps, then you are the problem, not the map.
Side note fun fact:
I met a forumwarrior once on Polar (was that you, Juodas? Can't remember...) who was in a brawling Atlas.
He whined all match long that he would be completely useless on this map.
In the end, he was top scorer and decided the match for his team.
Best Polar match ever (despite my team losing) .

So basically you saying if I build my Orion IIC-A with a lbx20 and 4 srm6 and try vote a brawler friendly map with a 4x time vote multiplier, and still get polar it's my fault for not building that mech for every map that the game offer us since I specialize in a certain way?
That's stupid, and I can completely understand brawlers who voice the hatred for polar, and mostly seeing it on the vote screen 6-7 times a day, and see that more than any other map in the game (from my observation of map selection system) you get sick of it being useless and knowing how pugs operate you don't rely on them to much since it all to chaotic to get a cohesive form of teamplay out of them unless you luck with the mental mind lock knowing what to do without typing or saying a word, or you and or someone else go on voip and try to communicate.
I support all random map, map voting only support bad players to compensate their weakness in the game, like heat management or sparing armor to acquire your own locks, etc. Also escort pretty much shafted good brawling maps or maps that are completely balance certain styles of play.

I liked the random map selection process. I feel (true or not) that the only people who didn't like it were the precious little snowflakes who felt it was 'unfair' to play on a map they didn't like or thought that they had some 'right' to pick what they wanted to play because they built a situational mech.
God I miss the crying when Terra Therma came up and someone in a 'i have no heat sinks so I could make room for more lazors!!!' would rage-quit at drop.

We all are "forced" to play modes and maps we may not like but that is the point, random is the only fair way to go, that way we all get screwed at some point.
P.s. I would rather have random and play all modes and maps then play the same 4-5 maps all the time.

There is a bit of a difference between being forced to play maps that do not fit your build type compared to playing game modes that are poorly designed. The only time I've ever experienced forced game modes was COD with the massive group matches..Yes they were horrible.

My point was no matter what we need to make it work even under suboptimal conditions, which I would say it is good to get out of our comfort zone.

And escort shafted brawlers? If anything, it made them more important as the VIP likes to close to snuggling range. All those snowflakes who sit 1km back lose their VIP because he wanted to give the enemy brawlers a hug.
And wan't to know something else? Not everyone in your match is that special snowflake who wants that long range cold map. One time from a few weeks ago, there was all 3 of the Ice maps (Polar, Arctic, and Frozen) up for vote and hardly anyone chose them. Instead, most of the people picked Caustic Valley. And the other amazing thing was, a lot of the players on both sides were laser mechs.

But if you are able to select the modes you want, your mech types and not just builds benefit from that. Example would be lights playing cap based modes typically supports their play style.
