We've all see this or something similar uttered by someone during a not-so-stellar match. Typically by someone who died early and they vent and ramble and denigrate their teammates till match end.

Someone, please explain to me the thought process of this fella to me?

Example: Just left a match where this person who shall remain nameless, the first order of business was to see if his Assassin would make it into the dish on Mining (It did FWIW). Shortly thereafter, he died unceremoniously... At which time he began pissing and moaning.

To be fair, three lances did a poor job of positioning and got ourselves bracketed and could not battle our way out of it...

That said, this guy had near zero contribution, yet felt somehow the team failed him?!

I dunno... Maybe I'm dense (let's leave that for another discussion) but I continually struggle to understand the logic that would predicate one to be so clueless.

Build up of bad games, or maybe an encounter with a troll or maybe just having a bad day in general are a few of the options when it comes to pinning down thought processes there.

I sometimes get a bit cranky sounding on the mic when I turn after brawling to see team mates hiding and doing nothing, or when I get left for dead etc, but it is mostly just me trying to point out something as I see it or make combat calls. Pub games are generally just madness anyway, can't really call a jumble of 12 randoms a team in the first place ;)

I try to think of it like this; if nothing actually positive is being said, then it is better of not said at all, criticism can be hugely useful, but it doesn't have to also be insulting at the same time, many people, while in the heat of a game just let emotion get the better of them.

But with that said there are also trolls and bad players out there, and everyone has bad games or bad days and we were all new once, so there are lots of variables.

Some of them utter the "useless teammates" quote near the end of the match after staying silent the whole game. If they are such hot shots then they should have been calling the drops, eh?

There are also a lot of people who just refuse to admit fault or error, there's no way they did or could ever do anything wrong so it must be some other guys fault they lost or whatnot.

And then some people just forget that it is mostly a fight to the death deathmatch game, where there is going to be a winner and loser, even with a 12 man premade team it is no guarantee of success.

I used to become very sad with poorly playing team mates, but then I figured out a fun mini-game. It's called...

"am I good enough to get a yellow equal sign for my ending score rating adjustment even with this boat anchor of a team?"

It feels satisfying to win that mini-game even if the main game is shaping up to be lost hard.

Sometimes it's a bad combination of play styles. For example, I'm very aggressive in play, and a disproportionate number of players are ludicrously timid. One guy, often me, says push, throttles up, and it turns into a solo rush... At this point the team is now down a man with little gained. I've seen teams that were up by 5 kills that still played timid.

Now, I'm the first to say that I'm too aggressive. But the gutless wonders I see in this game blow my mind. Why even log in and play if you're dead set on not fighting?

Agree with FireStoat: Trying to kill enough to get 1000 damage in FW or grab some LPs gives a good goal for an uphill FW match. It also made my dropdeck better helping the whole team.

Noticed also that if getting frustrated, it's good time to check what's happening outside in RL.

Sorry, but when I do 700 dmg in an XL IS brawler assault and nobody else on my team does more than 150 dmg while half the team fails to reach even 50 dmg I am going to call them useless every single time because that is what they are ... useless.

I get it that in the modern society calling things as they are is a big no no, but frankly I don't give a damn.

Actually, you would call your team useless even if many of them have higher score than you. Your toxicity is well known.

I'll admit that I'm one of those people.

It's frustrating as anything to be fighting as hard as you can and then the moment there's a break, to look up at the score and see 5-10, 3-9, or even 1-11 because your team folded like a cheap chair.

So you need to vent, especially when it's your fourth match on a row with the same issue. It's not personal.

When you get 2-12 matches and you see your 3MPLs RVN out-shoot 3 of the assaults on the scoreboard, it's time call it as it is - useless team.

Did it perhaps dawn on anyone that it might be possible you got dropped with pilots that are not as experienced in general or with a particular weight class of mech?

I am not stellar pilot and most of the time my damage numbers are laughably low. Still I do my best to give it my all, even if poor Dire Wolf is constantly being focused due to being one of the slowest assaults in the game barring an IS assault running the smallest engine possible.

Oh pray tell me what should I call someone who fails to do anything for the entire duration of the match, hides behind teammates and couldn't even manage the amount of damage equal to his mech's alpha-strike? ... You've simply proven my point, you consider it "toxicity", I consider it calling things as they are.

As for "many of them having higher score than me" ... it hardly ever happens, let alone in matches with the useless ones. But please, since you throw baseless accusations around, feel free to prove me otherwise with a footage of a drop where most of my team clearly does better than me and I call them anything. Excuse me for not really holding my breath tho ...

Not our problem tbh. PGI claims their MM provides balanced games and matches people based on their level of play. Its obvious BS, but since nobody seems to care I won't bother to care either ...

I like when my team is useless.

How else would I get all those 1200+ damage 7+ kill screenshots to brag about?

When everyone does their part, you're lucky to break 400 damage.

I admit, i sometimes think, even tell them that. Seriously, why even log in if they are just going to camp and not do anything?

I'm just tired when I'm urging people to push, and they'd still just camp. I'm tried when i call for spear-heading with my atlas, nobody has my back. I try my best to be cooperative and be a teamplayer, but ever so often i just want to run on my own and poptart ppc just to get good score -- cause it's a cheap easy-win to do for me, sometimes i just want to leave my stupid team for dead.

Dude, let's put this into perspective for you. You are a guy that believes it's ok to treat other human beings like s*** over a video game.

...

...

That's just sad.

Okay let's look at this from a purely statistical and objective standpoint. In what % of games would you deem that your team is useless and you're the only one doing work.

Have you tried asking them why their damage is low? Did they get focused early? If so, why?
Were they running a LRM boat and the enemy team had more ECM than god?
Maybe they were running a snipe set up and got saddled with a map not conducive to sniping.

There is a lot of reasons why someone's damage may be low beyond 'lol u suxxorz! go headbutt a train you noob!!!1!'. Just calling your team useless is giving me the vibe you might not be seeing the bigger picture.
