Personally, I like the angular and bulky (but not quite "boxy") styles of mechs. In game, my favorite mech cosmetically would be the Battlemaster. Others that fit my "preference" would be the Warhammer, Thunderbolt, Wolverine, Hellbringer, and Rifleman as a few examples. I'm also quite the fan of the 40k Dreadnoughts, with some Tau Battlearmors also fitting. My favorite mech design in the BattleTech universe (that I know of) would probably be the Bellerophon.

Are there any others (besides the Thantos or Archangel) that would fit my "preference" of mechs?

Also, what kind of mech designs do you guys prefer?

I prefer the more boxy, mechanical looking models. Mechs that get more organic looking post TRO3050 don't do it for me. One example of a mech that I can't stand would be the Wyvern. The round fuselage of the Timberwolf is OK but mechs like the Wyvern or others just blech... Kinda hard to describe.

My favorite 'mech, aesthetically speaking, would be the Crab. Not the King Crab assault 'mech, but the Crab medium 'mech. I loved its weird aesthetic ever since I first laid eyes on it in mechwarrior 2 mercs and Alex did a bangup job of translating it into MWO. It's an extremely happy conicindence to me that the Crab and I get along so well performance wise that I find it to be the best IS medium on the market. I take my Crab into FP on the occasion that I do play FP with this build: CRB-27B

I'll put in a vote for the Ebon Jag's smooth sleek lines.

I like the shadowhawk and roughnecks look but because they do not spread the ballistic hard points between both side torsos, but instead have them all filed in one leaves the mech potentially less successful than other mechs in their respective weight class.

Generally I think chicken walkers are the best looking designs. They just look predatory. King Crab has one of the best looking models imho, with the Ebon and Catapult right behind. Timber is great two but the MWO version has never had the same oomph to me as the original.

For me it's the King Crab and Marauder. Like what Bud Crue says, the chicken walkers give that wild and vicious look. Like some sort of metal alien t-rex with big arms, I don't know maybe I'm crazy. Just love their style the most!
I also really like the Ebon Jaguar for it's new-looking slick and shiny curved appearance.

Always loved the look of the Banshee Series, especially the MWO version. Although in-game it was kinda poorly represented, I loved the BNC-3S.

The Rick Harris artwork of the Rifleman IIC. It already fits the style of MW:O and how I would picture it in game. On top of that, it's what I would picture a clan battlemech war machine to be like in the battletech universe.

Posted Image

Same thing goes for the Warhammer IIC. I love the tankier designs over the reseen.

Edit: Since I couldn't find any images out there of the tankier looks of the classic Warhammer IIC, I took an in game screenshot from AT1:BT and decided to post it here. Also added the Rifleman IIC because I like the look of it as well. I would hope PGI adds more beef to the arm cross sections of the Whammy IIC.

It don't get hotter than the Marauder.

The thing looks like a war machine, as opposed to a loader mech with guns.
