Greetings fellow Mechwarriors!
I recently started to play light mechs and noticed the increasing amount getting killed by my own team. This maybe has to do with the light mech of choise: A gift from a friend of mine: The Pirates Bane.
I don't think that its intentional, but its just funny to watch how often you get killed in it then you dance around a heavy/assault and *BLÄM* killed by teammate. Sometimes I even feel sorry for them, if you link 2 PPC and hit me, even if the mech is undamaged, there is a high change to instagib a Locust, because of the low armour & HP.
The funniest experiance however I had in my FLAME, where my front armor wasn't damaged at all at the end of the match, but my back was cored and red and I even lost my side because I hugged a MAD-IIC and my team behind me didn't stop shooting. I laught my *** off.
This even happens to myself sometimes:
--- Do you know the situation where a teammate of yours matches perfectly the red borders of a target you pressed R on and start shooting the poor fellow because you think that HE is the enemy?

The second event was when I was in a Dire Wolf. I was moving forward and taking aim at an enemy mech while going through a choke point when the person behind me decided my 100 ton was too slow for his liking and jumped over me only to receive my full alpha into his back as he came down in front of me. Poor guy didn't even have a chance nor did I to react to his impatient ill advised move.

It was on Viridian Bog.
And it was, of course, a teammate.

Cheetah hangs right, runs through PPC trails but didn't escape the goose.
I've also had many instances where I've fired long burning CERLL or even CERML, and pilots just walk into it to get where they want to go, or to push in-front of me to steal the kill.

I can agree to that, but this reminds me of a time when the opposite happened.
I was standing completely still on uneven terrain on (the old) Terra Therma when a friendly Locust approached, bounced off my leg, and legged himself. He began shooting me with his macine guns. I told him he was an idiot and just backed away to let the other team finish him off.

I didn't notice the team kill until scores, and then I noticed the guy had asked why I killed him. I replied I had no idea, I didn't even see it happen, then he goes to ask "was it an airstrike?"
And then I'm thinking, hmmm, wait a minute, there was no friendlies near the enemy group but they were actually under one of those cliffs, so yeah, the airsrike probably got the teammate right from behind, I had very little team damage done, was it maybe 15.
It would have been really hilarious to observe from zoomed out position, but still it was pretty hilarious once you realised how things unfolded.

First one was shooting an enemy DDC under ECM with Double Gauss/PPC (back in the days when the DW still was the best assault), Gauss killed it, PPCs passed through through it because it was already dead and hit the friendly mech behind it.
Second one was gauss/ppc again, shooting an enemy WHK... friendly firestarter was running into it from behind, thanks to PGIs awesome collision detection it glitched through it, warped infront of it, ate the PLPPD and popped.
Third one was a TK on a spider, which i remember pretty well because the pilot raged for the rest of the match. Was back in the days when the Gauss/Laservomit DW was a thing. The enemy team didn't really pay attention to me, and i was having a field day (ended the match with ~1400 dmg 7 kills). I was working on an enemy stalker, which i already had down to 1 shot. Said spider pilot decided that this stalker he hadn't shot before was obviously his to claim. So as i was lining up my alpha to finish the stalker off, he jjed above me, right into my line of fire. He ate the alpha into the rear torso and popped before touching the ground. He than ranted the whole match about how i should l2p.

Take from that what you will.
I've had numerous people accidentally tag me in EBJs and other very wide mechs.

That's your fault really, you never, ever walk in front of a ballistic assault and block it's firing angles. Since he's of bigger frame he's getting hit while you are not letting it counter.

Yep and i agree it was. I've had Mechs I thought were small enough to avoid that (like a Locust or Urbie) and I've gotten pasted by mounts I didn't expect.
I was trying to swing wide when I was in front of him. Oh well it happens.
At least theb33f didn't direstar my back.

Once on Tourmaline I managed to get to the back of a lone Battlemaster with my cyclops. Shots were fired, components were lost. I managed to limp backwards and dropped an arty as the Battlemaster overheated and shut down. Despite my warning in the VOIP a friendly close range Timber (again!) ran straight to the Battlemaster to crab the kill. They both got killed by the arty. We did win though...
