So I was thinking the other day about the IMP http://www.sarna.net/wiki/Imp

Now I know, most people want the Marauder 2 as the next 100 ton IS battlemech and I can understand that. But really the Marauder 2 wont really bring anything new to the game. The IMP isn't anything special. At best it will have 7-9 Energy points and 1-2 missile or ballistic points in the right arm. Its ugly, looking like an Urban mech on steroids. But that is also where thing could get interesting. It has the same torso as an urban mech. Which means PGI could give it the same 360 degree torso twist the Urban mech has. Would you have any interest in buying the IMP if it did have the 360 degree twist?

It could be a god of damage spreading and it has a good supply of energy weapons likely around the cockpit.

Seems good to me.

Ya I worry the Torso point might have Banshee like issues where its a mix of low and high mounts. but it would really be up to the artist.

True I forgot about the early models. I guess PGI would make the two that do the reinforcement pack mechs, Sucks cause one of those is the one with ballistics in the right arm.

Looks like there could be quite a bit of mech above the cockpit which means you'd have to expose a lot of yourself to shoot so you would be vulnerable. Depending on the 3D model and how they do they hitboxes they could be pretty bad but somewhat mitigated by the torso twist. Sadly the arms wouldn't help spread much dmg.

Still, looks fun and depending on Alex & the modelers it could be pretty good as well.

I suppose it can be a decent harassment proof Assault mech. No Light can stay away from its crosshairs for long.

Alex has already made a concept art of it:

It fits my silly mech doctrine so i fully support having the Imp in the game, we need to complete the Urbie lyfe cycle.

It's interesting that an egg is this creature's latest evolution stage. The massive egg will spawn numerous baby droids when it dies.

If it looks like that it'd have premature exposure issues

Annihilator also suffers from it, and so is the Atlas. Something about these IS 100 tonners...

Seriously... Looking at the art it seems it also have a low cockpit. The Atlas & Annihilator at least have there cockpit at the top. But to it's credit the imp does have ecm & a decent engine cap.

there were several mechs in MW4:Mercs + Mekpaks that had 360 torso twist and I'm all for anything that game had being included in MWO.

Wouldn't it be really inaccurate for Inner Sphere factions to field this mech. It may have IS level tech, but MUL records each variant as exclusively clan and/or Wolfs Dragoons.

I guess that doesn't matter at this point.

To me, it does. I mean Dragoon-fans just got their Annihilator. That's cool for them and I hope they will have fun with it.

However I think it is time we got some nice IS Assaults that actually had a somewhat noticeable role in the FCCW like Fafnir, Nightstar, or Templar (even though the Templar may not be a meta-beast).

Totally agree.

If only the Templar didn't gimp it's slots with FF... Take that away and it'd be noticeably better

You are right in a way.

Well the Dragoons have been in the IS since what 3030? I wasn't really even aware of the early clan models till I looked to IMP up. the the dragoons were producing the mech in the IS at this point,
