I knew there was a connection once I saw the Ulzii knot (symbolizing eternity) on the upper right arm of that Executioner Hero, as well as studs on the upper legs. The hero's name Cherbi is old Mongolian term for the Supreme Commander of the Keshik, the Khan's bodyguards.

Moreover, the red-blue-gold colors are patterned after the modern day Mongolian flag. In fact, the overall design of Cherbi's camo is very similar to that of the ceremonial uniform worn by present day Mongolian soldiers. Observe.

See the similarities? We all know Clans in Battletech had borrowed tons of old Mongolian terms, but it is very nice to see PGI actually creating a mech camo that is designed to look specifically Mongolian. Cause I'm Mongolian. Posted Image

I already wondered why it is so damn ugly.
Combining several base colors together and even with high saturation creates a very screeching, garish impression.
A stimulation overload in order to get attention from immature minds, e.g. used in the advertisement of cheap crap products (for a corresponding target audience) or in child toys:

I Googled Cherbi before and came up completely blank.

I never even considered a connection to the Mongol Empire (also had blue, red and gold flags by the looks of it), so thanks.

Here you go https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kheshig

Quote

Kheshig (Khishig, Keshik, Keshichan) (Mongolian for favored or blessed) were the imperial guard for Mongol royalty in the Mongol Empire, particularly for rulers like Genghis Khan and his wife Börte. Their primary purpose was to act as bodyguards for the emperors and other important nobles. They were divided into two groups; the day guard (Kheshig) and the night guard (Khevtuul). They were distinct from the regular army and would not go to battle with them, instead staying back on guard duty. Their supreme commander was called the Cherbi.

Strange enough choice, the mech that would make the most sense for it IMO would be http://www.sarna.net/wiki/Balius that also fits the Mongol Doctrine of its makers quite well Posted Image Such a shame PGI cannot into programming.

Too bad they didn't base it on real Mongolian warriors.

We can assume that that's how the pilot inside looks like, since that's pretty much the average Mechwarrior uniform.

If PGI's first quad isn't a Scorpion, I have a feeling Juodas Varnas would stalk their offices by night and hunt down every staff member one by one...

But it isn't Vlad's mech is it? Lol. The warrior they choose is probably a Ghost Bear, with only a mistyped Golden Keshik instead of Golden Bears. He is noted for defending the Executioner's production site for almost 2 decades. Wolf's would not have made them for that long if at all iirc.
