It's fine for things like SC2, DOTA etc. You don't have to grind for 12 months or grind every time a new mech/content comes out. The other games that you paid for once off $70 for, give you all of that for FREE and it comes BALANCED, maybe not perfectly, but it's pretty damn close.

Except that argument doesn't quite fly, because even games like Overwatch and LoL survive on microtransactions (Overwatch only has a $40 price tag to enter and nothing in MWO rivals the value you get for that $40). CS:GO is another example and that is dirt cheap to get (which means it isn't their consistent revenue stream).

Yeah I haven't played OW or LoL :D

I do play SC2 and watch twitch streams of the leagues all the time, much more so than MWO lol.

Do said micro-transactions give you advantage or needed to league though? (I'm not sure).

SC2 you just guy the game, you're up and running. Simple as that, no grind needed. Hence why Blizzard have had such a following for many years especially in competitive stuff (I used to play WC3 competitively way back when etc). Once off cost, done. Regular patches/balances, easy.

Not sure on LoL, but they definitely don't in Overwatch, it is purely about skins, sprays, and other random cosmetic stuff (sort of like we have badges in this game).

So it's like I said then really? You pay for the game and you've got everything associated. No need to grind out 6-12months to be able to contribute to the "e-sport" part?

You've got everything gameplay associated, that's a very important distinction. The equivalent here would be you pay $40 and you get access to every mech and don't have to manage an inventory and can customize the equipment however you like without worrying about c-bills. However cosmetics are what essentially get sold instead of mechs which would put more importance on unique camo, decals, etc especially ones only available during certain windows during the year (Overwatch has holiday skins that can only be unlocked during that period, which is fairly smart).

Im still hoping for 1v1,2v2 :)

They have 1v1 and 2v2
The Silkin runs one of them

At the end of the comp roundtable they had a request for PGI to lift the premium time requirement
So they can get more players
