Necessary Roughness Event

Yeah, I should probably note that, before PGI gets the wrong idea...
For PGI's extra reference, in connection with my post just a couple above... Yes, I am very much thankful for getting anything that I do from Events. Really enjoying the Mech Bays, War Horns, and (MC) which I manage to get my hands on, in particular.
So you know, I only get broiling upset when it's buried behind a 'Luck-Based Multi-Wall' that shouldn't have been there in the first place. Skill should matter, not be pushed out of the factoring.

Yes that was definitely the frustration point of the event - relying on luck to complete the event rather than skill or dedication.

Guess I was naive. It was called out in general chat and we went out of our way to do it. I assumed that first come first serve and dibs is dibs. Had the Cheetah called out before me that he needed it I would not have acted the way he did. Guess I think too much of my fellow players.

People have been complaining in almost every match for days.
PGI please learn from this mistake because it clearly is one.
Best,

Normally I don't make extreme criticisms of PGI, but this will probably be one of them. You guys buggered it on some of the requirements and the instances of this event. I think most people figured out odds on this mode vs the requirements. I think some of the figurings are skewed, but entirely luck. I believe the failed delivery part of this event was a FAIL. It encouraged different behavior than was needed. I can easily say my behavior was modified because of it. Frustration, different goals, almost suicidal aggression... Saw it in others and made for some fun games. This is not conducesive to trying to get stats on the game mode and refine it. I also think the PTS was a flop and that we were the PTS this time around. I think the community feels that way and all.
For the community!
EDIT: Did some reading before I head to work. I am so glad this community is tightly nit. Over coming a flaw PGI put out is awesome. Glad to be part of this place. Granted there are flaws (what game doesn't) but it seems things do get fixed in time. PGI could compensate this event by making it longer OR just rewarding everyone on that one delivery failure (or just remove it and move the reward to the complete all event reward). They have plenty of time to "fix" it.

i think that was me. the cheetah stole the kill i offered to you.
i changed my play after that to meet at the red base.
take the battery and run as far away from everyone until i made it to the enemy base. i even told the guy to stay at his base and wait for me, but he kept leaving. greedy for the kills.
sorry i couldn't help you that time.

1) In three or four matches, you would have nailed the pick-up/deliver the fuel cell.
2) There is NO apparent tactical motivation to do #1 because storming or ECM-Griffin-ing the enemy base is much simpler.
These two points make the "Kill Fuel Cell Carrier" objective close to impossible. It is impossible not because of your skill, but because there is hardly anyone getting the fuel cell. This is not a good event design.
It would have been better and still difficult to, say, get 5 or 10 headshots instead. Not many people will get it, but you get 12 (twelve) chances to get it. M'Kay?
Event Score: 7/10

The rest of the challenges weren't that hard to get, I had everything except Delivery Failed after a half dozen Incursion matches or so. The nice thing about the event was running my newish Locusts up quite a bit, and getting some pretty silly numbers in the process.
One of the most memorable moments in the weekend (aside from some crazy unlikely escapes in my Locust 1E) was the game I came closest to getting Delivery Failed. There was another Locust on the team, and I thought we were going to camp out at separate fuel cell locations to get the battery carrier. I didn't notice he changed course to follow me. When an Urbie picked up the fuel cell we both attacked like a couple of wild dogs, ferociously trying to get the kill. He landed the killing blow, and I took a volley of streaks from a Skillcrow as we retreated. The gods threw me a bone, as most of the volley missed. I was almost cored in the rear CT but virtually nothing else was hit. I think I went on to get ~3 more kills that match, and had some pretty epic games trying to get that damn Delivery Failed challenge lol Running around solo/yolo in the non-Incursion drops just going for maximum aggression almost got me Ace of Spades in a damn Locust without the basic skills unlocked
Almost forgot! There was also a pretty epic duel or two in a game on Frozen City, Solahma was there in his Loyalty Blackjack packing SRM6s. I was dancing with him, a Cheetah and a Huggin in my 1E. Two of them broke off when the Cheetah took my leg (maybe they just figured I was a goner), but I got his with the next shot and the second leg shortly after. I spent what felt like an eternity limping back to a fuel cell, only to find the Huggin was still camping out there. Splat lol

Running a locust i grabbed and delivered a cell, found a wolfhound searching for fuel cells, Chäs ihm for a while and finally killed him on his way back to base.
Next match i was on my way to enemy base, had to kill 2 Kodiaks on my way there, and destroyed 3 base Parts.
Done. Thanks Pgi.

Though with the mentality off some of the player base any mode PGI makes will just turn into deathmatch with a twist.

It seems little unusual!
Maybe, just maybe PGI is waiting until event is over, than surprise us by making "Delivery Failed" green for all players who didn't achieve only that challenge to complete the event.

Maybe you should follow your own advice, the changes made had some effect and the posters that saw them commented to that effect. However, it still does not fix the delivery failed mehnes.

The event itself was written fail from the start due to basic format of the game itself, reminds me of Escort game mode.
