Last night I made a habit, in incursion games the team was already leading by a nice margin, of all-chat announcing where I was in my roughneck after picking up a battery.... volunteering myself as a 65 ton squirrel for two of the event goals folks were chasing after. I neglected to tell them that I had shotguns and streaks though...much to the shock of quite a few light pilots who came looking for me. In every case the team still won... but someone on the enemy team also got their goal. I reason if Bombardi can put a 1000MC bounty on himself during a game to the guy who whacks him, then I can do the same with a bounty PGI will be paying out. ;) Its serving the same purpose...distracting the enemy players into playing foolishly to chase after something they want. In the first game I did it last night, I already had 2 kills, and by the time I died I was at 618 damage and had blown off 3 legs leaving mechs hobbling around for my teammates to score kills of.

Got it on my alt. an hour ago. What a terrible event. It was a Summoner on Crimson. Some mechs were duking it out under the platform and I managed to kill the Summoner after a short fight (he was already damaged). It was pure luck. I don't know why he carried a fuel cell. Maybe he was one of those guys trying to help out.

Thinking of all those not so lucky. It would have been better to have 2 solo kills in one match as requirement. 1 against a Roughneck and 1 other mech of any kind.

This was like a lottery, only you didn't even get a ticket every time.

edit: the special luck hard one (battery kill) for 2 warhorns is fine..

but making it part of the 9 to get the mech bay? boooooo. =( [double edit: yayyy! thanks for fixing it!]

incursion thoughts:

- only have 2 fuel cell areas. get rid of the middle one.
- make the fuel cell energy signature visible by everyone. (whoever holds it, is visible on radar like other CTF games)
- super turret in each base that can 1 hit kill mechs. needs to be killed by the first called (ACT) dropship (gives air control tower a purpose - storming enemy base would require at least one fuel cell in ACT)

I'm not one normally to complain about events, but this one was not well thought out. Nor are any of the event objectives that depend on what another player does during matches.

"Failed delivery" should have been rethought, either it needed to be "Get a Kill or KMDD on an enemy carrying a fuel cell" so that at least there would be the possibility of two people reaching the goal with every fuel cell carrier; or it should have been replaced by "Fully Charged - Get a Kill or KMDD while carrying a fuel cell".

Between the two options, the latter would have been better.

All of that having been said, I am LOVING Incursion, so far it's the ONLY MODE where you can do 0 damage to an enemy and still get huge payouts in both C-Bills and Experience. I had a match where I marched across Tourmaline Desert in an Awesome 8Q, hit a Spider with a single shot from a PPC(Didn't shoot another mech again), destroyed all but one base component and ended the match with 317,070 C-Bills and 8,416mxp(these totals do include Premium Time and 1st Victory).

Edit: Forgot to include my other serious complaint with the event. When it is too difficult to get into the specific game mode required to complete the event it can be extremely frustrating. This was also the case with the latest loot bag event requiring Siege. I got 156/175 loot bags and had 0 opportunity to get into Siege matches for the final 4 days of the event.

Holy wow! just refreshed the event page to see that PGI made the final requirement to complete 7 of the challenges, not all 9! THANK YOU SO MUCH PGI !!!!!!!!!!

Event over. They reduced the "All Done" (Mechbay reward) challenge to completing 7 of the 9 achievements. Nice, though it makes my last-minute grind for completion of all 9 achievements feel a little useless (just a little :P ).

was extended 24hrs got in, it's ENDED. the mechbay is 7 objctives, I got 6 (because incursion NEVER appears) so iam 1 obj short of mech bay, thats even worse pgi, iam out of words.

ps. now that the event is over iam sure ill get PLENTY OF INCURSIONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wow! I Tweeted the idea to Russ earlier today to 'spot us some challenges'.

I am really impressed by this act of compassion and am buying some MC now to say thanks for his being understanding on this.

Quid Pro Quo, good customer understanding deserves customer loyalty in return.

Well thank the multitude of MW Universe gods that at the last moment they changed the final prize requirement to completing 7 of 9 requirements ... was that a nod to the Star Trek franchise?

In the last 24 hours of the event I played 11 hours including the last 5 hours straight of it - and not once was offered the Incursion mode, let alone had the chance for it to be voted for or against ... NOT ONE INCURSION MODE IN ELEVEN HOURS!!!

Seriously PGI - WTF???

As to your CM posting that you could not affect the likelihood of game mode in your code - I suggest you make that a priority fix if you're going to run events like this in future.

Another factor (which everyone in my unit kept nagging me about) is that right now I only have IS mechs and was due to start my Clan collections after the end of the month. Although I got lucky a few hours from the end of the event and finally got the Roughneck kill, I have been chasing the last light/medium kill and the last heavy/assault kill for 2 days - everyone in my unit has been telling me it's because IS mechs are so underperforming compared to Clan mechs, and I must admit I've seen precious few IS mechs all weekend other than Locusts and the single Bushwacker that gave me my Delivery Failed kill.

Before rolling the new skill trees, and before releasing the stats for the new Civil War equipment - please factor that into the post-release stats from those two features.

The event is now over. I did not complete everthing, in fact I only managed to complete a few of them. I just wasn't getting Incursion enough (30ish games and a total of 6 Incursion game modes as possibilities). The frustration grew and I simply didn't want to play, I played other games instead. Now that the event is over it's time for more MWO since there's no frustration about trying to get Incursion...though somehow I now forsee people voting against Incursion more often than not.

Thanks PGI for the event and new game mode. I really like it. Is going to take a while for the mojority of us PUGs to learn our tasks in Incursion. I love the way the battle spilts into 3-4 skimishes with the remenants atempting a base take out. A co-ordinated group assault would be devestating.
That cell kill was a bugger. Tough the way we were playing. Im sure your own play test was more strategic. Ours turned into 'Whos got the ball!' and then no one wanted the ball.

Ooook... now i'm suprised. Just checked event page and found out they change requirement for mech bay to just 7 instead of 9 challenges. Really nice touch from PGI after all that whining from our part. Posted Image
