Since the Roughneck is totally not part of the MechWarrior lore I thought "Maybe they can add the Warlord to that roster." For anyone that doesn't know, the Warlord was from the Mechtek pack for MechWarrior 4: Mercenaries(or so I thought) that was basically better than the Atlas in every way.
What's different from the Atlas and the Warlord?

-10 tons more armor than the Direwolf
-An extra ballistic HP on the right torso
-2 Energy HP on both arms, 2 on the CT, and one on the head
-6 Missile HP(3 for each torso)

On top of that it has a top speed of 70KPH. Now I know what you're thinking.. "That sounds stupidly OP!" Oh but that's where you're wrong. The Warlord has a weakness and that it can't have any electronics at all so no ECM nor AMS or LMS. Also, with all the hardpoints and engine choices there are endless amount of builds you can make with the Warlord.

Thoughts?

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

yes, the lack of ecm is totally the weakness to counterbalance all the other game and rule breaking nonsense.

As is your own admission that it obsoletes the atlas... the mech pgi has taken to using as a logo for mwo.

Why not ask for an invincible, reusable, walking nuclear bomb?

I knew a player named "Warlord" once, but that was long ago... He's since vanished from the interwebs. Shame, too. Was an interesting dude.

I know, OT, but whatever, I'm lost in my own little fantasy story land atm and in-between writing scenes, I stumbled upon your little post.

The Warlord is a weird case since there's actually a canon 80-ton mech with that same name. It's actually pretty good, basically acting like a slightly lighter Battlemaster. I'd rather have that than the MekTek version to be quite honest.

Getting the MekTek version of it is basically never gonna happen.

Better chance of getting the Omega than a fan creation that sounds like it doesn't even obey construction rules.

The Warlord in MW4 was basically just a modernized Atlas variant to compete at the level of 3067 era Mechs but doesn't have 10 tons more armor than a Dire Wolf. The stock loadout has 20 tons ferro fibrous armor compared to 14.5 tons on the Dire Wolf in that game. The stock Warlord with 20 tons armor is set at 54kph with 5 heat sinks and an LBX AC/20, Rotary AC/5, two Large Lasers, three Medium Lasers and an Artemis LRM20. For comparison the stock Atlas has 18.5 tons armor at 57 kph and 12 heat sinks with two PPCs, a Gauss Rifle, three Small Lasers, an LRM15 and a Rocket Launcher 20, along with ECM, Laser AMS and IFF Jammer. The Dire Wolf has 14.5 tons armor at 56kph, 18 heat sinks and four ER Large Lasers, two Ultra AC/5s, an LRM20 and a Laser AMS.

The armor types and points per ton are drastically different than the usual construction rules where all 100 ton Mechs can get up to 750 points of total armor with a max of 25 tons ferro fibrous at 30 points per ton, to 37.5 tons standard/reactive/reflective/stealth at 20 points per ton, to 75 tons hardened at 10 points per ton. Not to mention the game doesn't follow the usual critical slot construction rules to begin with and the different armor types don't take up any internal space, there is only one engine and heat sink type, internal structure is fixed and the weapons use a hardpoint slot system with weapons sized accordingly and with notably different stats. Also it supports having up to two additional special armor locations with fixed values beyond the usual hit locations to account for things like the Timberwolf's missile ears, or other Mechs that have protruding parts or weapons that aren't defined by the normal hit locations.

Honestly, I think people are taking this a bit too seriously lol

It's just an idea and a suggestion so chill out. XD

What mechs would you all like to see then? Share your suggestions.

I think people want certain mechs, not all of them powerful and not all of them beautiful. Your question about the Warlord is no more crazy than the Urbanmech and now we have a STD 60 even though it brings the entire team down when someone runs it stock and believe me in PUGqueue you run across them from time to time and they putter across the battlefield and do very little damage, which isn't to say that some one can't make them work but it is a much harder challenge than a Cheetah.

I'd welcome the Warlord and more, how bad can it get? We're advancing the timeline all the time and at some point we'll run out of iconic mechs to sell.

So, if i say "here's an idea: you should be castrated" you should take that good naturedly and smile, since it is "just a suggestion"?

This is "just a suggestion" that makes power creep look like merely leveling up. OP nonsense is unbalancing and destroys games; of course it will not be well received by rational individuals who enjoy the game, who see that the game has enough problems already without adding something like this.

If you want a 'fun' suggestion, consider: An urbanmech with 4 AMS slots - 2 on either side of it's Side torsos. So i can have an urbanmech that looks like it is sprouting 4 tinier urbanmechs that hate lrms.

It could work. But it should probably have even worse hitboxes than Kodiak (like maybe more portruding CT that will be attracting all the shots even those that were meant for legs), and ofc lower engine size.... to make it in plain terms just another direwolf that can defend positions but 1st line spear heading it's not exaclty it's forte.

Since PGI introduced entirely made up mech (at least that's what I'm lead to believe) - Roughneck.
Maybe it's time for an Atlas IIC ? Posted Image
or just an Atlas II.

I'd still wish there was an atlas variant that would have :
- RT/LT +6-8x missle HP
- RT/LT +6-8x ballistic HP
- RT/LT +Y ammount of energy HP (dunno how many, PGi could give it a blast and make like 10 Posted Image)

one more thing.
There should be a DEV pts available for fun/keks. Where you could move around/add hardpoints in them mechs so for example you could put 14 ballistic hardpoints on Atlas over whole body.
I'd give it a go. Most creative and voted on builds/propositions would be put into the game.

Anyone noticed that the Atlas Warlord AS7-W(LGD) has small cockpit which fields 2x critical slots?
Very intriguing!

However, MWO should add AMS hardpoint back to all Legendary mechs, otherwise trouble when LRM/Missiles gets buffed up with proposed Longbow launch...
