which sterling genius put that build together?

I'm really hoping he was new. He was trying to shoot generally in the direction of a rifleman. I wanted to crop out all the names/chat/etc because there were some unhelpful things being said and the poor guy got nuked with fire. However you can just see the bottom of the riflemans feet in the top of the clipped shot. The're right to the left of center; which was where the guy was shooting. He was blazing away at empty space about a mech width to the Riflemans left.

He was so bad. So terribly, terribly bad. I'm glad you guys noticed the JJs + coolshot that he had. I didn't get a screenshot to show him trying to do a JJ turn - because, apparently, he goes so fast he's got to use JJs to change direction without swinging wide.

He finished under 100 damage. What's amazing to me, truly amazing, is that he can't be new. He saved up the cbills to buy and modify a Dire Wolf.

I hope he's doing better and enjoying himself but that build and watching him in the last bit of that match reminded me why QP is so terribly, terribly bad. He probably hid down there the whole time because he was scared of LRMs - because that's the sort of player that gets demolished by LRMs and the LRM player ends the match thinking 'ZOMG LRMs are so amazing! I destroyed that Dire Wolf so EZ! I have all the skillz!' when the reality is that they could have killed that guy with 1 MG by slowly walking to the left in a circle around him. The Rifleman killed him by standing still and shooting and not missing. A skill still beyond our unambitious friends keen, even after earning enough CBills for a Dire.

The other option, that he bought a Dire via the Dire package or MC hurts my heart too much to think about.

Man this thread cracks me up.

My first proper homebrew mech build was a LRM Roughneck. With practice i refined it. It's refreshing to have a long to mid range built mech when the rest of them are brawlers.........and i was short on funds......i had spare LRM 10's.

Personally, I'm okay with a couple of LRM roughnecks. If you could make LRMs on a roughneck work, that's fine. But flaunting it as "good" build despite contrary evidence -- Novakaine could probably make it work though, as he made the Frigate King Crab work too.

I'd probably try something like this too: RGH-2A AC10 [60] + 3x ML + LRM20A [540], 13 DHS, XL300

But a guy with 170 average match score with hidden PSR rating, acting superior as if he could do any wrong, is pretty ******* annoying.

Oh i am in no saying it's good. Heck i might transfer the build to the none special 1A so i can use the special 1A for making money. My goal was to make a mid range support heavy...and i think it went well.

Well, much of my disdain to the OP is his holier than thou attitude. I know bad builds, but if you can make it work, so what right? But considering his terrible average match score, that just make it even more annoying.

Once the C-Bill variants come out, i'd probably go RGH-2A AC10 [60] + 3x ML + LRM20A [540], 13 DHS, XL300 myself. Probably, i'm still playing around smurfy.

I honestly frown at LRM 100 tonners, but if they're not playing like a god ******* damn potato with an even more potato build like no-artemis and/or no tag, and or two TAGs, and/or no reliable primary direct fire weapons, they get a pass from me.

I'd build RGH-1A with 2x AC5s and 2x LRM10As, but that less energy hard points isn't really attractive to me. I like having more energy weapons, despite reduced to an LRM20A.

Not if I see you first.

BTW, I tend to engage at 300-400M with LRMs so I am not that hard to spot.

Actually it does make a difference. Something that people who do not know how to LRM do not realize.

That counts my AC20 Roughneck, my SRM24 Roughneck, my LB10X Roughneck and a few more variants besides my LRM 30 Roughneck and the LRM20 Roughneck I took out twice, both of which raised my W/L and KDR comparatively.

Haters going to hate.

Yes, give it to him full blast. I am sure this will be affecting his ego!

Ok, so you're proving that your terrible scores have nothing to do with your builds, and really just PEBKAC

Well, the same people probably still say so. But the UberTier players have this tendency of thinking they speak for everyone.

When you get a higher match score than me.

Which many of you haven't been doing.

So maybe focus on your own builds and find another boogeyman to blame the loss on?

luckily I don't have to watch others play often, but I saw that one guy havign to deploy 120 missiles ot kill a orange CT mech. Makes you really wanna cry at this inefficiency when 120 damage fly around to grab the last 30 a mech has.

Lrm's are bad spread damage, high matchscore is heavily affected by damage done. But good gameplay does not come form spread damage.

Play it however you want to. LRM on brother! You owe these people nothing. This game is for YOUR enjoyment alone. These meta players insist on meta play so they just have to learn to carry harder is all. It's their problem, not yours.

FYI, the single battle scores don't mean anything.

Anyone can score well if they play enough battles to get lucky; what matters is being able to consistently score good.

I agree with you,
you have people with less the 100 (10) matches a season bragging about numbers,
you have smurfaccounts for "training" against people with only one account,
in the end the leaderboards dont tell much.

Showing only players with at least 100 matches a season would give some better indication.

Seven pages...and this coming on the heels of the LRM "racism" thread...makes clear to me that we need something new to be pissed off about.

A forum warriors prayer to PGI:

PGI, we beg of thee! Give us the skills tree PTS, so that the salt may flow toward something more deserving. Give us a nice OP weapon with new tech that you ignore for a good long time until everyone is using it and then nerf it into oblivion; and then watch the rage and indignation burst forth! I beseech thee! Give the poor, sad LRMers of the world a break by giving them some new worse folly to (metaphorically speaking) hide behind! Spare us, your forum community of observers, complainers, critical analysts and the two suck-ups who aren't aware of the Russ's twitter account further mental anguish over the too often spoken of horror of LRMs and those that run them ineffectively! This we pray.

soon there will be... soon. PGI's ATM's will totaly invalidate both lrms and SSRMS and IS shall cry about no longer being able to mount the best missile option aviable while clans will want a piece of those mrm's for alpha strike potential.

Jesus, not even arty?

You can downgrade the engine to XL300, upgrade to artemis, and have 60 AC10 rounds, 720 LRMs. Also drop the TAG, you need as much lasers you can get, to augment your direct fire capability.

RGH-1A

If you feel you can go a bit hotter, remove heat sinks for more ammo, like so. RGH-1A

44% heat efficiency is actually pretty good.
